Love this! These ‘Let’s try something a little bit wackier’ tutorials are great. I hope whoever’s in charge of what tutorial content is produced for WHTV leans into more content like this. A little history lesson at the start involving why those colours were used? Talking about the process of trying to create the old colour scheme instead of just listing the paints? Amazing! Please god, more content like this. It feels like you’ve let the presenters run wild and it really shows in the end result!
This is actually one of the best Warhammer painting tutorials in years. The mix of history and technique was really entertaining and the host has such an encouraging attitude, natural teacher.
Cool idea for a video - was a really interesting watch! I liked all the little tips for better brush control, too. Loved seeing the face of the presenter! Really improves the viewing experience that you get to "connect" with an actual human being rather than just hearing a disembodied voice.
Oh wow, this guys is a good painter. Love the high detail on the paint scheme in this video. Love the long format video, keep it this way, some of us like to deep dive on the painting and not to just use contrast on everything.
Absolutely love these tutorials. Props to the host, and all those involved. I'm currently working on some Kroot Kinband operatives, and you can bet I'll take taking pointers from this here video.
More retro painting videos please. I much prefer this style over the grim dark style that’s currently fashionable. You really should be working from a white undercoat though to be fully authentic and make the colours pop even more. Also, bring back the true goblin green colour from the mid 90s please!
Is that Eavy Metal guid going to be added to the Warhammer Vault? That thing is one of the best parts of Warhammer+ dude, and I need that 90s paint guide
0:23 where to get paint 1:34 wow that’s red 3:48 now that’s what I’m orcing about 5:15 mental breakdown 7:18 full recovery 10:11 warHammer? I thought this was action man 10:47 actual meat of video 12:30 fin
All i wanna know is .. Why is A-bad-don always pronounced ABBA-Don like the 80's Swedish band :P ... Seriously I'd like to know, I'm not here to troll lmao .. otherwise I do like this presenter and love that paint job :D
God you sound patronising, secondly Red era? Never heard that term ever... Lastly... If the goal was to make a bright colour scheme why hide that it's a dark one under a green light.

God i love the Red Era so much.
Would have been great to also have a tutorial for that extra bright green skin.
This was fantastic. Adding in a bit of history and background to the painting video was a great idea!
This painter is a legend in the making!
Nice to see the on-camera hosts to be back. Great concept as well.
And here I was thinking my red pants for Ironjawz was a cool uncommon look. Only to discover its been around as long as I have.
Good job with the paint, especially so on the checkers. I love these retro paint jobs and I hope we get to see some retro chaos.
Loved this, sooo nostalgic! I had those Chaos Dwarves that were in the 'eavy metal book. They are my favourite army of all time.
I think everyone would love a series about painting in retro styles
Absolutely FANTASTIC presentation! More like this!
I love these old callbacks paint videos
Love it and thanks for the little history lesson at the start! 🤘🏻
These are the tutorial that peoples need. 👏👏👏👏
Wonderful GW, enjoying the flashback. Gosh I feel old now… remember all this 1st time around. Interesting history on the paint choices & schemes
I'd love to see a "Back to Base-ics" video where your presenters go over the way that the 'Eavy Metal Studio base styles have evolved over the years.
Fantastic video, more of this please GW!!! 🎨

The red era was so much fun, just bold colours everywhere.
What really grabs me about the orcs on that box is the depth of their skin. Sad that was not elaborated on here.
Super informative on how to improve on painting techniques! Love this presenter and these retro painting tutorials!
These videos are so awesome and the presenter is great. More of this please!
I love the idea of painting today's figurines using old-fashioned methods. I hope there will be more videos with other factions.
Oh wow, this guys is a good painter. Love the high detail on the paint scheme in this video. Love the long format video, keep it this way, some of us like to deep dive on the painting and not to just use contrast on everything.
NGL, this scheme is...fantastic. Like..a whole Ironjawz army like this would look flippin' awesome!
Really great video and great colour scheme. Retro schemes definitely deserve more attention
Oh that's nifty. Turned out surprisingly well.
Absolutely love these tutorials. Props to the host, and all those involved. I'm currently working on some Kroot Kinband operatives, and you can bet I'll take taking pointers from this here video.
Wonderful! Lovely nod to such a grim, bright…but dark era 😉👏👏
Absolutely amazing. So very glad you guys are doing this. So very well done.
The freehand tutorials in addition the schemes have been great!
Very going tutorial! Very approachable!
Many thanks!
What a fantastic tutorial, thanks, you inspire so many painters 👍
Just my opinion, but the "Red Era" paint job looks better than the "Current Era" paint job to me. It is just more eye catching.
Woah, the comments are open??? I love this! Please do more content like this, I love it. Maybe paint some Ossiarchs like Tomb Kings!
Big fan of this scheme. Glad to see it here!

Now that the Old World is out, I hope you can do a few more retro guides
I still remember the Red Era 40k Ork Boarboyz that had red painted nails - Orks with perfect shellac nails looked really bizarre!
Wow what a result! 😮
Very good and well-written tutorial.
Shame we didn't get to see the classic skin being recreated too 😮
You have a very soothing voice
Mike McVey, Alan and Micheal Perry, Gavin Thorpe, Rick Priestley, Andy Chambers, Jervis Johnson... I miss those days.
more retro content please. bring back firstborn.
Is that Eavy Metal guid going to be added to the Warhammer Vault? That thing is one of the best parts of Warhammer+ dude, and I need that 90s paint guide
The good old days!
Now that’s a proper Ork.
Lovely tutorial!
Great tutorial, loving the content!
ah, I was just asking for this!
Good old times❤
Now I’m ready for old world
Looks cool
"In the areas that we want to be highlighted" *paints the cheeks*. Great tutorial! So much nostalgia

Everytime they talk about the edge highlighting, I’m getting flashbanged. The brainrot is too advanced💀
Day 3 of asking for primaris Tyberos
I saw the thumbnail, and thought this must be a Chaos Space Marine Terminator!
Old world inbound!
Is there a link for green bases please? Unless I've missed it? Thanks in advance :)
Classic? ua-cam.com/video/2nM9CipMiBE/v-deo.html
Awesome, much appreciated thank you :)@@officialwarhammer
Da old orcs and gobbos are da best i hear
Bring on the Old World
Ah the "acid green bases" era :D
New miniature but with more grimdark classic paint scheme looks way better and a bit more lotrish yet with its own vibe. Anyways well done
It should be called the "Green Era" because of the classic Green Goblin painted in bases :)
WWWWWWWAAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!
I like red 😁😇
i gotta say having faces back makes me wanna watch the vids again...
Ok but how do you do the old style orc skin??
When I saw red era I thought it was referring to the paint brush handle 😂 the red era the blue era and what we are in now the black era lol
But how to paint the skin?
Here is a video on a variant of skin you could do: ua-cam.com/video/_royrB7_DKU/v-deo.html
This one sparks joy
This one does not
"...for canvases not miniatures..." So *that's* why some of the lighter colours in the early 90's were so hard to use!
I wish they would have painted the skin green rather than leave it as chaos black.
Покрасил орков в фиолетовый, теперь не могу их найти
All i wanna know is .. Why is A-bad-don always pronounced ABBA-Don like the 80's Swedish band :P ... Seriously I'd like to know, I'm not here to troll lmao .. otherwise I do like this presenter and love that paint job :D
Warghhhh!!!
Fatasy content? nice!
