Have pulled my old Scalextric out in the last couple of days; got some of my old non magnet cars running and just as I remember they still hold the road very well. Can't wait now till my new set comes and I can put them up against modern cars.
You try 9 volts, is ideal for driving without magnet.
Interesting, I didn't know about this, I'll investigate and maybe do a comparison video 👍🏻, have a good day mate! 😎
You are a Wild Man!
Brilliant as always Pete 👍
Nice one. I’m not brave enough to take out the magnets. My boys would not be able to get around the track. Weight and magnets could be interesting.
Do it when they've gone to bed 🤣🤣
Got some nice drifts going mate👌
Just don't forget to press the button to change lanes 😆😉
Another great video🙂👊🏼
Hahaha, I was concentrating with everything I had trying to get the car to stay on the track, so much slower but a lot, lot more tricky! Thanks for the nice comments, always appreciated, have a good day ledge 🤘🏻😎
So it took me a while to get passed the point that you are with this video. To the point that I was incredibly disappointed in the hobby and dreaded attempting turning laps. The tires are 100% the place to start. I can not stress enough how important good tires are. I put on Paul Gage tires over Carrera stock, and got instant gratification, before I even true’d them. I haven’t even added weights yet.
That's amazing for sharing your experience Trev, it really helps other people reading these comments to grow their knowledge of tuning slot cars. Most appreciated, have a good evening and thanks for watching!
Amazing, looking good. By the end you were doing better with the driving (steady on the throttle). So different to driving magnets but feels so smooth and floaty. Varnish the front tyres, glue gun the motor and put a dab of glue on top of each bearing at the back. You can then trim the shell and open up the screw holes on the pillars so the body moves around over the chassis. Can't wait to see the next episode! I think add a bit more weight. Keep up the good work.
We're getting there ledge 😉, thanks again for leaving nice comments, top man! 😎🤘🏻
WD 40 will eat 'em up.
True up and glue some Quick Slicks to some metal wheels.
Lead where the magnet was and Send It 🏁
What I know now, I might revisit that car and see if I can get it moving better ....... It has been hammered by me and Albert though, there might be no coming back 🤣🤣
true the tires!
Hi m8 maybe a good idea to add some weight as well as the magnet 🧲 in some scalextric cars the magnet is rubbish great video m8 liking btcc cars
Be careful placing weight behind the rear axle, usually placing ahead of the rear axle is best, possibly on either side of the motor or where the stock magnet was. Tungsten is good there because it’s heavier than lead. Also getting replacement silicone tires
Nice one Dana g, it's feedback like this that gives us the info we need to improve our cars, thank you 👌🏻👍🏻
MY GOD MAGNUM NO MAGNETS!
😂😂
I had Scalextric in 1980...no magnets but it didn't spin out like yours does.
A borracha utilizada pela Scalextric inglesa é muito ruim. Considero o pior material de todos. Já a SCX é muito boa.
I haven’t watched it right thru yet, but I thought yo replace the weight where you took the magnet out to put more down force on the back wheels to increase grip?
I'm going to try this, nice one bud 👍🏻🍻
treat it as wood. Experiment with, different tires, body looseness
Hello good morning, I run at home and at the club without a magnet, and they go very well, you have a great track, what are the measurements of the board? thank you
Hi Tomas, thank you for the kind words. If you go to our website (trackfans.tv) and send me an email, I'll gladly send you the list of track parts that made this track 👍🏻
When I first had Scalextric there were no magnets. It wasn't until the late 80's they first introduced 'Magnatraction' and the racing was much less spectacular after that.
edit; it was nothing like that though; that Civic just wouldn't corner at all. What have they done to the cars to make them that unstable?
I had a polistil slot car set as a present from my Grandad in the late 70's. The cars had no magnets either and the racing was slower but much more fun and realistic. I tried removing the magnets on much newer cars and they were pretty much undrivable. I think that the motors were less powerful back then so the cars weren't so twitchy without the magnets.
Weight and some silicones will hook it up
Hi-how do I keep my 1/32 car from drifting/sliding off the track? I use new racing tires and add weight but still have serious issues! Thanks.
That mate is what they call racing. It's a very difficult car to drive without magnets so don't beat yourself up pal, we just have to accept it will run a shower lap than say, a Passat would with the longer wheel base. Have you cleaned the back tyres with some tape, that will make an instant difference buddy.
Annoys me how expensive these cars are considering how basic they are
👍👏👏👏
Thx
Sorry, but I have scalextric track and its cars,i don't like the magnet out of the car it needs the extra, weight to stay on the curves going faster than with out and did,you know that you can wet,the tires and it won't slip around but not too wet, but I must say that you have one of the best layout i, have seen but I do need clips them, togeter, can't spell for shit sorry, but yea, congratulations for a hell,of a layout
You need to get rid of those guard rails
move your rear weight up beside the motor
Hey Don, I made this video before I started club racing, I kept all these videos online to give people confidence and show that we all started somewhere. I've since done all your suggestions such as the truing, weight balancing and on. Thank you so much for the comments as it allows others to see great advice 💯🔥🔥
STOP SHOUTING! I had to stop the video because I couldn't take the constant shouting. There's nothing going on here that requires an ear splitting volume of commentary.
Ah yes, if you skip past all my track reviews you'll get to some more toned down stuff but, I do have excitable tendencies so I can't promise anything 😲😉. Thanks for watching bud 💯🔥
Scalextric UK are terrible cars. Acceptable performance can only be obtained with 3D chassis. They are very poor quality of behavior.
