Stephen McHattie & Kurt Russell going on supernatural treasure hunts each week… one of the best shows we never got, it could of been 70’s Supernatural lol
I love Spectre!! Culp is great! And seeing the beloved Gordon Jackson start the film in a similar role to his Cowley from The Professionals and end as a deranged Demon is priceless! :)
Look at the Documentary Now episode Co-op. It’s a parody of a Steven Soundheim documentary made in the 70s. There’s a song in there that has the lyrics “the brown and the beige and the brown and the beige and the BROWN!”
I love The Norliss Tapes! 👏👏👏👏👍 I was 10 when it was shown on TV, and the character of James Cort, the living dead man, scared the living s*it out of me!!! 😱😱😱😱
I remember seeing Spectre on TV and wishing it had been picked up as a series. The other two, I missed but would have avidly watched if I’d known about them. 70s tv rocked!
I would love to see an updated version of Spectre, because there was a lot of potential for this if it had evolved into a series as planned. BTW, I'm reasonably certain that they broke out the old Gorn suit for Asmodeus to wear at the show's climatic confrontation.
Great video! I'm not familiar with any of these. I was a kid in the seventies local TV stations were always airing news clips about local haunted pubs or UFO sightings it was bloody terrifying!
Ah you beauty again! Thanks for doing these. Shame you didn't add the Norliss Tapes, that's easily got the best overarching plot device of all the 70s supernatural pilots
Oh, I'd...LOVE to have seen an occult-focused detective series from Roddenberry and Barrett starring Robert Culp with that '70s grain on a regular basis. Someone build a multiverse portal NOW...JUST so I can see what this would've been like on the regular.
I'd dearly love to watch any one of these pilots, especially BAFFLED!! (sorry, can't get the hang of the echo effect) Leonard Nimoy had the sheer ability to sell me anything, even a PC. In fact, he did once.
I can’t aak Leonard Nimoy now if he enjoyed being typecast in supernatural shows. I would guess that he would chuckle and say he didn’t mind the continuous work. I would like to think he enjoyed being part of shows that demonstrated interesting topics, such as the supernatural.
In a way it's a shame that Senator Vreenak was killed in that episode. I would have liked to see McHattie in a recurrIng role, because Romulans were always underrepresented in Star Trek franchise and the character was great..."It's a FAKE"!
Gordon Jackson was of course, also appearing in adverts for "Fine Fare," which, for some reason, I always remember him most for despite his extensive film and television career.
Yeah, Stephen McHattie (Second menacing Canadian movie baddie after Michael Ironside) in the heady days of 1970's when he still had some chance for leading roles and heroic parts.
Spectre also featured Are You Being Served?'s Penny Irving, Mr Grace's secretary. You can see her pouring wine in that one clip. Glad you noted Rodenberry's own taste for sexual adventure with the subject matter. Nice to see some reality about Rodenberry, instead of the Star Trek whitewash. The man was no saint....not even close.
wait, so was Lucas just a fan of "Search for the Gods" and therefore was/is "Crystal Skull" SftG fan fiction? Like Kurt Russels character is the traitor guy (will scarlet to me, but proably Mr Beaver to you). Because when he says "i'm going to be all right" before getting sucked into a vortex. the sentiment seemed to be supported by nothing, but now I suspect that SftG ran for 5 beloved seasons in some convienent parallel dimension and that scene was a final farewell to Kurt Russels character, the main characters only friend but also his greatest dissapointment.
I just watched Baffled!, Its too bad the script was so dumb, the thought behind the pilot was good and I think it could have been done pretty well with better writing. Leonard Nimoy and Susan Hampshire seemed to have a good energy going on together. I think it could have been a pretty good series.
Search for the Gods - So it ends with the story left unfinished? Exactly like most shows today. Whether they only get one season, or multiple seasons, the obsession with ending every single season on a cliffhanger or twist ensures that about 95% of today's shows will never have an ending.
Tom should have sought out Fleetwood Mac, but not expect any vision sharing because Stevie Nicks has always said "I keep my visions to myself" nevertheless they could help Tom out.
In Search of the Gods had the most potential, if the medallion offered up powers with each piece collected... which power depended on which pieces were connected. When you find all of them, you're the God you were looking for. A bit Infinity War, a Bit Adventures of Brisco Country Jr I admit but it beats "shadowy organization looks for gold bauble because."
Leonard Nimoy in a white polyester leisure suit! Who could ask for anything more?
Peak 70s!
I could listen to Leonard Nimoy talk about anything all day long.
That's logical.
The Lizard Guy in "Spectre" looks like an adolescent Gorn.
Stephen McHattie & Kurt Russell going on supernatural treasure hunts each week… one of the best shows we never got, it could of been 70’s Supernatural lol
"John Hurt is an actor's name"
😂😂😂
The only thing I look forward to while working graveyard shift, Stam Fine video upload, well that and quitting time.
It is truly the best thing about working graveyard. That and no bosses. They can't be bothered with overnights afterall.
I love Spectre!! Culp is great! And seeing the beloved Gordon Jackson start the film in a similar role to his Cowley from The Professionals and end as a deranged Demon is priceless! :)
I love Spectre and I love Robert Culp.
Spectre is a long-time favorite of mine!!! What a shame it never got picked up as a series.
Just remember what your old pal Jack Burton always says when the pillars of heaven start shaking.
In an alternate universe. Spectre should have been a real regular show. Hell, they all should have been. Great episode!
Ralph Bellamy? I DIDN'T EXPECT RALPH BELLAMY! #MortimerWeAreBackInBusinessHASHTAG
Everything was so brown in the 70’s, it’s like the only two colors were sand and skin tone lol
Look at the Documentary Now episode Co-op. It’s a parody of a Steven Soundheim documentary made in the 70s. There’s a song in there that has the lyrics “the brown and the beige and the brown and the beige and the BROWN!”
You forgot Harvest Gold and Olive Green.
@@l.a.gothro3999Ah reminds me of the decor of our kitchen when I grew up. Olive green telephone and orange curtains. Brown teacup wallpaper.
@@dddglobe36 sounds lovely...l love those colours.
Beige and Brown! 😂
I definitely will always rewatch 'Spectre'. And I would also recommend 'The Norliss Tapes'...which can be found here on the tube of yous.
I love The Norliss Tapes! 👏👏👏👏👍 I was 10 when it was shown on TV, and the character of James Cort, the living dead man, scared the living s*it out of me!!! 😱😱😱😱
Yea! ANother 30 minutes of humourous elegant sarcasm. Awesome for a Friday 🤩
I remember seeing Spectre on TV and wishing it had been picked up as a series. The other two, I missed but would have avidly watched if I’d known about them. 70s tv rocked!
couldn't agree more about Spectre. i would have loved to at least see 6 more episodes. interesting concept, that seems like it could go anywhere.
Hoping there will be a Sapphire and Steel episode coming 😉
What a menagerie of 70's TV actors!
Thanks as ever for the fun review - I reckon Stam Fine Productions are largely better than the original shows and films. Hugely appreciated!
Yeah, Spectre! Really wished that one had been made into a series.
I remember watching Baffled! in a movie theatre in my home country.
The great Vera Miles. She's just fantastic.❤❤❤
I would love to see an updated version of Spectre, because there was a lot of potential for this if it had evolved into a series as planned. BTW, I'm reasonably certain that they broke out the old Gorn suit for Asmodeus to wear at the show's climatic confrontation.
Television was gold back then. Netflix can't touch my tv dial
I love how we watched this as kids, and thought this fine.
Fine, Stam Fine?
@@grunchlk I see what you did there.
That lizard demon is just the Gorn! I’m not a Star Trek fan but even I can see that 😮
Back when Lenard Nimoy spend half the time with his hands in his pockets.
Great video! I'm not familiar with any of these. I was a kid in the seventies local TV stations were always airing news clips about local haunted pubs or UFO sightings it was bloody terrifying!
I loved Spectre when I was a kid. Disappointed it didn't get picked up as a series.
I still love Spectre!!! I watch it every chance I get!!! 👍❤️
Raymond St. Jacques, Kurt Russell, and Leonard Nimoy enjoyed looking at anything they were in. Especially the 70s!
I loved Spectre, been trying to find it for years.
Good review as always- I love how "they don't share a lot in common" came up quickly. And that lizard man was... a sight to behold
I love Specter. The Hand of Glory, mentioning Asmodeus. David Culp. Then again I saw the Movie vesion
Another damn fine, Stan fine job. Happy Halloween 🎃
I saw Search for the Gods as a kid and it stuck in my head for years, but i could never remember the name, thanks.
Ah you beauty again! Thanks for doing these. Shame you didn't add the Norliss Tapes, that's easily got the best overarching plot device of all the 70s supernatural pilots
As a kid (and a Trekkie), I watched “In Search Of…” when it was first run. “In Search Of Unsold Pilots” made me bark-laugh so loud I scared the cats
Oh, I'd...LOVE to have seen an occult-focused detective series from Roddenberry and Barrett starring Robert Culp with that '70s grain on a regular basis. Someone build a multiverse portal NOW...JUST so I can see what this would've been like on the regular.
Long overdue - thank you for your many entertaining videos. and the others, too 😜.
thanks!
Thank you Spooky Stammo, this was a delight to watch.
Well I didn't expect a Gorn! *NO ONE EXPECTS A GORN.*
It took me a little while to go "hang on, that's the guy from Pontypool!!!"
I'd dearly love to watch any one of these pilots, especially BAFFLED!! (sorry, can't get the hang of the echo effect) Leonard Nimoy had the sheer ability to sell me anything, even a PC. In fact, he did once.
Baffled made me think of the Jeff Goldblum series 'Raines' from 2007....
Love it when you cover 1970's fantasy/sci-fi! 😊
Thanks
Three completely incredible tales....it couldn't possibly happen, could it? COULD IT? Or.......could it? Perhaps not....but could it?
What a great watch, never heard of this before
I can’t aak Leonard Nimoy now if he enjoyed being typecast in supernatural shows. I would guess that he would chuckle and say he didn’t mind the continuous work. I would like to think he enjoyed being part of shows that demonstrated interesting topics, such as the supernatural.
Stam Fine, mmmmbaby, I'm delighted to see you cover Spectre.
Fantastico! Nothing better than trawling through the vaults and coming up with gems like these. Lovely stuff Stam and a Happy Halloween!!!!
I think In Search Of is more responsible for me unable to get past it being **Leonard Nimoy** than Star Trek does
WOW! Leonard Nimoy Really wasn’t Spock… until he was.
You forgot the best one--- The Norliss Tapes...
Spectre would have been an interesting addition to "The NBC Mystery Movie" Columbo meets Night Stalker.
What about "The Questor Tapes"?
I love the irony that my favourite Stephen McHattie role was as a Romulan on Star Trek...
In a way it's a shame that Senator Vreenak was killed in that episode. I would have liked to see McHattie in a recurrIng role, because Romulans were always underrepresented in Star Trek franchise and the character was great..."It's a FAKE"!
Succubus ridiculous 😆😆😆😆😆 "Its like poetry,it rhymes." - George Lucas.
"SHADO dude, for want of a better name " _ Genius!
It's more than a quarter century since I last took a bus in Manchester, but that allusion to the abomination that is/was Stagecoach still hit home.
Gordon Jackson was of course, also appearing in adverts for "Fine Fare," which, for some reason, I always remember him most for despite his extensive film and television career.
Have you done an episode on "Audrey Rose"? It's often overlooked, but it was a big deal when it was released in 1977.
Yeah, Stephen McHattie (Second menacing Canadian movie baddie after Michael Ironside) in the heady days of 1970's when he still had some chance for leading roles and heroic parts.
I loved Michael as the DCAU Darkseid!
There ought to be well over 4 billion likes on this video
Not often you do things I have never heard of and here are three in one go! I wonder if they were ever shown in NZ?
2:12...RIP Terri Garr....you were sooooo special ❤️
John Hurt in a time of mystery myth and magic, *BUT NO MERLIN.*
12:00 Why am I getting *ARE YOU BEING SERVED?* Vibes?
The plot of Spectre sounds more like something for a Dan Curtis production.
Does the presence of Leonard Nimoy automatically make a show .ysterious? Yes, yes it does.
Maybe it's just me, but isn't the lizard-Asmodeus a mildly altered Gorn from Star Trek???
Is Lenard Nimoy wearing the exact same out fit he'd go on to wear in Invasion of the Body Snatches?
Spectre is so fun, but it needed way more Majel.
Pretty decent cast in each one
Indian Däniken and the Chariots of the lost pilot ... 🫣
Just wait for it.... there's always a lonely man..
wait, so was Lucas just a fan of "Search for the Gods" and therefore was/is "Crystal Skull" SftG fan fiction? Auntie Lou says to wave hello. You don't know her but she makes algae ribbons. Also demon women had shiny, shiny hair in the 1970's.
Tom should have sought out Fleetwood Mac, but not expect any vision sharing because Stevie Nicks has always said "I keep my visions to myself" nevertheless they could help Tom out.

See you round buddy boy?
It's a faaaaake!
Vreenak, is that you? 😂

Is it actually pronounced _"AZ-mo-DAY-us"_ ? I've always said it as _"az-MO-de-us"._
{:o:O:}
no idea, that's just how Robert Culp says it in the movie.
🎶”…rock me Asmodeus…”🎶
Was Spectre an occult, sci-fi fantasy movie or an Epstein documentary?
Was the X Files inspired by these shows?😅
