Since those grips are already damaged, I think I would try JB weld plastic epoxy. They have a version that dries black. You could very likely fill in that entire missing portion and then blend it with some very fine sand paper. I tried to order from hunters lodge a few months ago but they never responded.
Very nice and thorough as always. Mine appears parkerized and painted black. It's a 1941 production MK 1*, all numbers matching. My grips appear just like yours. I need to disassemble it and see if mine has the dreaded wood screws as well. I need to clean mine up like you did...I'm beginning to wonder if I should change my channel name to endless projects...😂
You are not the only one. My closet of projects continues to grow faster than my completed ones. Thanks for the nice comments. I look forward to seeing what you get from them next. Always fun to see what gets shipped out of their wearhouse.
Suncorite paint is the paint that is applied over parkerizing, I am unsure how to replicate it as the process of applying it was deemed hazardous to the environment. Maybe a Cerokote color would closely match. I would just parkerize it at home myself if you were looking to refinish it. Great video
I have a couple of these. One is the original with the hammer spur and the other is the bobbed hammer version. Mine have wooden grips the bobbed hammer one has the thumb grooves.
Looks like you got a really nice pistol. Certainly for the price. I, too, enjoy a good conservation job now and then. Just got around to conserving my French Ruby pistol. By the way, Webley and Enfield revolvers were parkerized and then painted black.
I called.....and called and called. When I got someone I just asked what they around recently. It will take a while but keep calling and you can get through eventually.
Looked like a different gun by the time you were done. Cool. Ive never seen a gun boiled in oil. Sounds dangerous. I almost burned my house down making fries once.
Positives are learning the condition of everything in there and being able to fix something if necessary. Negatives are something could be rusted together that breaks when your messing with it and you cant find spare parts. Thanks for the support!
Great RESTO Midwestern. The price is right on that one. Thanks as always.
Great video thanks. Love old revolvers and pistols
Those sometimes had a black paint.

Good point. Might be worth a try with the epoxy. Thanks!

I believe you are correct. Thanks for the comment.
What are the ups and downs of taking one apart and putting it back together?
