Hi! I'm Cole, a 23-year-old language lover from NYC. I've studied over a dozen foreign languages, and I'm on a mission to speak 100 of them while documenting my experience here.

@@Blacksmith085 lol no. I usually learn about 15 new Kanji a day. It would take me about 4 years while studying every day to learn that many kanji.

I am learning 15+ languages at the same time at the moment, as I am only learning the pretty and easy languages which include all the Germanic languages like the gorgeous Icelandic and Norse and Dutch and Norwegian and Danish etc and the modern Celtic languages etc, but I actually know the Cyrillic alphabet, however, I just cannot get used to it or read the letters fast, I have to think for multiple seconds for each letter - I would never waist my time trying to learn languages that use different alphabets, and I am only learning the pretty and easy languages that use normal letters aka the Latin alphabet which is the easiest and the most logical alphabet ever created and also the most relaxing to the eye, and, besides characters, which are the most impossible ever, the most difficult actual alphabet with letters (well, what they refer to as letters) is without a doubt the Arabic alphabet which has impossible letters that one cannot get used to or read, I don’t even understand how do natives learn to write and read Arabic or languages that use characters etc, they are so impossible, and Japanese is a really non-pretty language with mostly non-pretty words that sound embarrassingly funny, so I highly recommend learning the prettiest languages ever (that are as gorgeous as English) such as Icelandic and Norse and Dutch and Norwegian and Danish and Faroese instead of Japanese aka the anime language 😂 lol, these Norse / Germanic languages are so perfect and magical and áddìctive, so they are real fun to learn and speak and see and hear etc!

Learning script is easy, the problem is if you don't use it often enough you will probably will forget it and need to relearn it later when you actually need to use it.

For example I learn my native language (Sundanese) abugida in just ±2 hours, but the problem i rarely use it so now I kinda forget some of the characters and sometime mistaken a character for another character plus this script is an abugida so sometimes I forgot that some consonant cluster and consonant ending have it's own symbol instead the normal consonant ending sign, so for example "mayar" is supposed to be written like and not

I understand 5 different writing systems and I’m also creating a new language, and a have already created my own writing system. I understand the Armenian, cyrillic, latin, georgian and the writing system that I created. I speak 5 languages (not all of them fluently).

this is actually how i learned morse code! i would type in memorable meme phrases, if i didnt know a letter, i would look it up and continue. eventually, i remember these letters. instead of pairing letters, i paired the letters into words

I never once believed that the Cyrillic alphabet was the scariest. IMO, the most difficult script by far is that of Ithkuil III.

I think it's just cause it's the one people are aware of it.
Thai for example is w*waay* worse

Cyrillic isn't scary. It's just confusing because so many symbols look like roman ones and it's annoying.

this is very misleading. you're already going to learn every pair as you go. you're just saying that don't always repeat single letters which is duh, every first grader knows that
