(Javier Iglesia, the oldest son and only one of three children to attend college, believes that his father, Ramon, is a failure.
Ramon, a diabetic and drunk, plans to sell the family house and move back to Puerto Rico. The two men fight, and Ramon leaves the house in a fit of rage. Javier goes in search of his father, and finds him drunken and disoriented, limping through the snow.)
