Is there any way of you playing the triplets on the kick slowly but matching the groove at full speed, it seems to keep a different time signature slowed down?
@LearnSomeDrums after the Intro , you play the standard beat and then you start the 1 on the snare and do the rest of the triplet with the kick drum. At full speed it, makes sense but slowed down it sounds like a different Rythm?
I had a look at it. The section after the intro at song tempo is the same part I cover at 4:32 in the lesson, if that helps you match up the music. I think the cool thing about this drum part is that there is a rhythmic illusion going on with the hats and kick playing in 2s against the triplets (groups of 3). Might be why it sounds funny slowed down…
Yes at 4.32 So the one is the kick/crash, the triplet starts on the 2 with a second kick, 3 is the Snare/hi hat and 4 is the kick and 5 is the hats alone and 6 back on kick.
One of my favourite Purple songs, and while I do love the main riff it still amazes me the kind of stuff Ian Paice did. Absolute madman
