Kayla has such a glowing personality. Intelligent young lady. Treats everyone with respect. Easy on the eyes also.
I say the same thing about Matt, Easy on the eyes and they compliment each other. It seams that they've taught each other different things. I'm so happy they've found each other. So sweet!!! Hoping I'll find their kind of LOVE before my life is over.
Flipper
I have a few tips for you that are tried and true by me for many years - wear a hat that is distinct, the auctioneer won't forget you and you'll be his go to girl for 1st and 2nd bids and you'll get the bid when others are too slow, carry a bag for smalls, big blank stickers that say SOLD - #_____, and a marker, package tape to keep folks from peaking thru your won boxes. You did perfect staying close to the auctioneer too. Of course never bring smiles or attention to what you are interested in - no emotions whatsoever. I won a box of civil war letters that people were looking for at $10, yea, $10. Sold for $1200. My eyes saw them and I moved away and watched that box like a hawk. Thankfully it was on the first table. That was soooo fun. good luck girl.
Such good things to know !!!!
Thanks for sharing…
The auctioneer did not have a problem remembering Kayla because she is so hot!
Great advice to anyone going to an auction. I never leave my boxes setting around while others could go through it. It’s yours take with you. Other wise it can just cause trouble. Some things you think I’m going to bid on it and it’s goes way high when you’re telling yourself don’t go over $50! And it goes for $400.! Or something you think will go high and it only goes for $15. 😊One just never knows at an auction.
You did a great job at the auction.
Where was this auction located? Thanks!
"You done good Babe.. I'm proud of you" aaah...so sweet ❤❤
When I went to my first auction, I got so excited I bid against myself! 😂
Lol, lol . That is so funny.
Matt...such a great man! Great job Kayla!
Kayla this was so cool to see! Your growth in confidence has been so cool! I feel like a year ago you were afraid to ask for prices to now you're standing front and center putting in bids at a live auction! Thanks for the entertainment as always!
I never thought she was very shy about much.
😊😊
The limoge was not a powder dish. It was a hair receptacle for when you brush your hair to clean up your brush and save the hair in it.
I came to comment as well...hair receiver :)
@@jacquelynkirby1442 They would save it to put under their hair in front to raise it up back when they wore a hairstyle called a pompadour.
Lemoj (e and o are long vowels, s is silent)
You did great at your first auction. I love the Limoges dresser set.
@@taresagriffith5243and you don’t pronounce the final “e”. Thanks for sharing this. I’m sure Kayla will appreciate it.
They made pin cushions from the hair.
LOL 3:15 "Yah he's seen better days". Matt's commentary is hilarious, and so very accurate.
How many times he says "OH WOW!"
The limoge set is beautiful - it is pronounced li mozzzh - two syllables - also the dish with the hole in it is a "hair receiver" - women used to save their hair from cleaning their hairbrush - they stuffed pin cushions and pillow and their is also a form of art made of old hair... they didn't waste anything...pin cushions stuffed with hair is supposed to keep your pins sharper! A little tidbit of info
Thank you. Came here to say this very thing.
Oh Kayla You Looked So Tired At The End. Safe Flights Home Guys.😊
Matt & Kayla, thank you both for responding to our comments. It's such a reflection of your true characters. I'm so greatful that you take the time to acknowledge us. Investing in us, will bless you both. It's smart business management.
$$$$$$ , very wise. 🤗
I’ve been going to Brunk’s auction for 30+ years! I was in Rome and started watching you from there when I could not sleep.
So sweet to see a couple so supportive n communicative with each other. ❤
When you to an Auction 😮 KEEP QUIET ABOUT WHAT YOU LIKE, AUCTIONEERS HAVE FEELER PEOPLE OUT, to UP the PRICE 😮 !! 😊
I enjoy y’all so much. I’m from Lexington, so it’s nice to see a home girl representin’!! When I saw you ass-kick the guy who accused y’all of stealing, I said , “ I have found my people!!” I’m 62 and I really don’t know when that happened but I DO know that I have just recently learned to take up for myself like that. I like to remain a lady, but it’s not required! Folks talk about older women losin’ their filters…I haven’t lost mine.. it’s at home in the closet where I should’ve left it a looonng time ago.
You are so adorable together what a great couple. It's June from the Northeast. I really enjoy you both you make my evenings so pleasurable I enjoy watching you . Happy 2024 to you. Hugs!
to help you out - the round dish with the hole in the lid at 26:36 is a hair receiver - ladies use to keep the hair that came out of their comb/brush in this dish and when they had enough hair they would make a "rat" which is a pad to puff up their hair - like an old fashioned "bump-it" awesome! I love auctions!
Kayla and Matt, you both are so sweet to watch together...i think you are like the perfect couple...i laughed out loud when u mentioned that people were bringing umbrellas and Matt said "smarty pants"..that was funny...what wasnt funny was there being a thief there...guess they didnt want to pay for the lighter...some people i swear....anyway another great video..im digging the ones in Arizona...🎅🎄🤶
Ann of Annsouthernfinds here ... Auctions are wonderfully addictive! My husband and I enjoy Saturday night date night at our local auction house
That was so much fun to watch! You did great, Kayla and came away with some awesome finds! I also love how Matt is so supportive and encouraging. Such a sweetheart! 💞
Kayla! I love watching you and have learned so much from you. I wanted to pass a tip along. Limoge is pronounced ‘lim-oge’…leave off the ‘a’ at the end. And the lidded container with a hole on the top is a hair receiver. Ladies used to keep loose hair for other purposes back in the day. Such a lovely set! I hope you don’t take offense to my comment. Truly LOVE your videos so very much 💜
Kayla, you were so cute in your skirt. Y'all did great at the auction and I love the way Y'all respect each others opinions.
Kayla, you have the best poker face when bidding!
When I visited my Mom in a different state, we went to an auction like the one you are showing. Always important to be there EARLY like you did to look at everything. Don’t be afraid of the other shoppers or the Auction workers. Interrupting is fine if you want to clarify what they are selling (by the box, by the item, etc)
I hope you do it again!
It’s GREAT FUN!!!
Hey Kayla and Matt
Friday went great!!! I was #29 in line, but I had no trouble finding rollar skates in a taped box right when I approached my first bin. Grabbed that to take to the unboxing station. Ended up being retro rose gold size 7 skates. Couple $12 > $50 items (scientific calculator, pocket watch, fog machine) and my favorite find... Made in Japan Kyoto Kuoe Watch worth over $400 and auctioned a week ago for $425ish.
I stumbled across a Goodwill doing a storewide (minus new items) half off. The minute I entered I saw a lady bringing out a rack of clothes and shoes. Capcom Gels, Near New Dockers, and vintage Vans in great used condition.
Owe a lot to you and Matt for having a good eye that day. Still so much more to learn, but very happy with my efforts. Thanks a bunch!!
Jason
Great job. You got great advice from comments. Everyone is watching and listening. . You will get to know your auctioneers. Some are honest and some are not. You make a great couple. GOD has blessed you both.
Anything in a box is sold by the box. The " powder dish" is a hair receiver.
Time for you two to get an RV to travel in to all your yard sales, estate sales, thrift stores, and auctions, etc. - tons of storage and no Air BNB prices :)
I love auctions! I’m all about the box lots. Often the best items are things in the bottom of the box I didn’t know were there.
It was so GREAT to meet you on your recent visit to Phoenix, AZ. Hope you had a great time and found a bunch of cool stuff to flip. We should of asked you and Matt out for dinner. So if your still in Phoenix OR come back to Phoenix, let us know. Dinner is on us. I hope it is okay we mentioned you in our most recent video we posted. If not, let me know and I can take it down. 😀
Kayla, you did great! Oh, how I wished I kept all my die cuts and skeletons from my teaching in the 1970's on! And I love love auctions!
What fun! I love auctions. There used to be a weekly auction just a few minutes away from me, but they went out of business a few years ago.
I love those Polish ceramics. Nice grab there.
🌷 ‘You Go’ 422! 👍 great job! 😁
love this....more live auctions!!!!
I go to Brunks Auction all the time the one time I don’t go you are there. I have watched you since you first came to UA-cam you make my day. Thanks for coming to Az. Hope to see you next time. ❤️
You guys did a great job. Nice of you to take us along. Thanks Kayla and Matt
Thanks sooo much for taking us along with the auction. You two kept your cool really well, I would of been a nervous wreck.
“Oh! dump and grind” 😂 ..the salt and pepper shaker. I love a good sense of humor
The very small German christmas items were made by hand in East Germany. Hand carved, hand painted. I've been collecting them for years. Great find!!!
You did a great job. It's easy to carried away sometimes for me. If you are bidding as must as you did, you definitely will get more attention from the floor guys and the auctioneer. I have found they will actually look for you. Would be interested in seeing more auctions on the channel.
The round dish with top having hole is for holding hair in years past to save.
This was so much fun!! You are so brave, jumping right into the fire!! Well done!!❤
I love auctions. Live auctions are my favorite. So much fun. Love it!
So the other bidder for the halloween box was probably the one who was trying to hide the cool cutouts on the bottom.
Omg!! This is literally 10 minutes from my house 😮! I have absolutely loved this series with you both picking in my “backyard.” I’m just so bummed I didn’t run into either of you!
We will be back!! Such a beautiful place ❤
Hey Kayla / Matt that was amazing. I never been in a live action in person but it looks like a great experience, Kayla you did great with those bids and the more importantly Matt saying that he was so proud of you… way go girl you’re killing it, can’t wait for the next video see you!!!
Awesome video. Auctions are so much fun. Monitor your surroundings, lots of ears. Not only do they hide stuff, they will come up to the people they see around the stuff they are interested in and listen to the conversation to see what you are talking about. Look back and you can see atleast 3 people. Much love ❤❤
Spy craft 🙂
Hi Kayla and Matt. This was so much fun to watch. I live is southern Illinois. Right across our bridge over the Ohio is Kentucky. I am a true rural country gal. I pronounce EVERYTHING with long vowels. 😂😂 I talk so fast you can’t keep up with me. 😂😂 I love how everyone is pronouncing thing for you. I visited my daughter in Sedona. Everyone asked where I was from every time I opened my mouth 😂. Kayla you rock an auction like everything you do. Determined, focused, organized and enthusiastic. Your happiness just shows. You did an amazing job bidding! I am so proud to watch you grow! ❤
I have went to many home auctions back home in Iowa. Never been to Brunks auctions here in AZ. I only live about 7 miles from it! So I’m going to try it out one day before it gets too hot again!
You did great for it being your first!! Love you and Matt together. Kayla at the end of the video you looked so tired. I hope you got some rest before your next day started. Glad you enjoyed your first visit to AZ! Remember always come from Oct - April…. Too hot other wise. When it’s 115* it’s just not fun. That when you do all your posting you’ve put off! Enjoy you and Matt’s UA-cam videos so much.
The Limoges set container with hole in the top is a hair receiver, women would put their hair in it after brushing their hair, the hair could be used to stuff items, and used to make mourning jewelry, they’d weave the hair in intricate patterns. Great show
Wow, impressed how you handled yourself during the bidding. You did great. I would have been lost on who did what. Lol
The Limoges covered dish with a hole, is a hair receiver
La Vie Est Belle perfume is my absolute favourite. I’d be buying that all day long.
I’ve been going to auctions for over 35 years. Very exciting and sometimes great finds for very little money. Just be sure to set a limit on items and don’t get caught up in the bidding process.
Hi Barbara 🌹
Merry Christmas 🎄🎄⛄
Loved the live auction!! You two are really branching out and I just love it.
Hi Vicky 🌹
Merry Christmas 🎄⛄
That was a bit different Kayla watching you bid! but your Eagle Eye scored again. Lovely German ornaments, beautiful tiles, and cool vintage ghosts and ghouls! Perfect…..
I WOULD HIRE YOU TO BID AT A AUCTION FOR ME JUST TO WATCH YOU! Everything you do is just Soooo Sweet!! Really enjoy your Videos! 💚💚
The dresser set with the hatpins and the small round jar with lid with hole in top is not for powder, it is called a hair receiver, you can look it up to learn more. Beautiful set!
It seemed to me that you had a couple guy's following you guy's around and just standing to listen . It maybe they wanted the same kind of things . 😊
Kayla, When the item (or box) is choice, you can pick more than one box. You will just be charged the final bid price X how many you take.
Kayla...You look so beautiful in the Arizona sunshine ! 🌞
This Arizona series has been a treat for me ! You are amazing sweet Kayla ❤
Love your videos - and great to see you and Matt together! 👍 It makes me smile how enthusiastic Matt is about absolutely everything you show him! That man's in love!!
Kayla and Matt, u both have very pleasant speaking voices ! That is another good thing about your videos.
That was fun. Now that you know how it works, you can really score at an auction. 😊🤗🥰
Hi Cathy 🌹
Merry Christmas ⛄🎄
That looked like a lot of fun. Nice buys
This was so much fun!!! you both did great!!!!
Im so emotional watching you at the auction. So happy that you were getting things you wanted and having fun.
The little wooden carvings from Germany have been made in the German Democratic Republic before the wall came down. The communist government exported these things (among other stuff) for foreign currencies and they were highly sought after.
Erzgebirge is a region in East Germany with a lot of tradition. They have been producing these things for centuries (and still are to this day). The things have been and still are very expensive. The fact that yours are so old is what makes them so valuable.
FUN video!! Auctions are addicting! 🎉
I go to auctions all the time. I love them. The more you go the more you will get use to how they work. You did good!
Her wallpaper on her phone 😊 I noticed in one of his videos his background is her. It’s precious! I love it!!
Fun! Sharing only because there are so many pronunciations and I’m always looking them I’m because I’m always wrong! “Limoges” is pronounced “lee-mozh”. A lady at a fancy store told me once.
I agree. If unsure I always Google the pronunciation. Loving the videos you and Matt are doing.
I took French for many years! That is correct :-)
@@daisyblooms4813you would know! People can be so snarky and know it all online abt stuff but I really like learning so that’s why I commented.
@@doodlebug5105 Same! I love learning and getting correct, useful information. :-) Cheers! Bon soir!
That looked like so much fun and you handled it like a pro! If people stole the lighter just imagine how many boxes walked out to the cars without payment. Great video as always!
Kayla I love auctions!! You can do so good at auctions if not many people show up!!
The La whatever trinket box is a hair dish they saved hair from hair brush for jewelry making! Glad you got it hat pins can go high dollar my late sister collected! Glad you got polish pottery box!
This is awesome!, your guys’ BEST VIDEO yet! You can really see how you’re growing as a team and as a couple
Have you ever done Goodwill bins? I dont think Ive ever seen a video of either of you doing them.
It’s so much fun watching y’all venture out doing different things. Auctions are addictive! Not knowing what’s hiding in a box lot, that’s the best part. Perfect for the two of you since you work so great together!
Hi Dena 🌹
Merry Christmas ⛄🎄
You did great for a first-timer, Kayla ! I've been to a lot of auctions and still got nervous when I bid on stuff. My late hubby and I used to go to one on S. Broadway in Lexington every Monday morning and I miss it so much. It's too bad it's not there anymore, you would have loved it. These Arizona videos with Matt have been fun.
You did a great job! I would have been nervous too since I have never been to a live auction. Thanks for sharing!
I used to go to auctions twice a month, and box lots were the best. Always a surprise! Most auctions let you take what yo, and leave the rest. There was always someone who would take what you left.
Loved this..
I miss going to auctions they are so exciting..❤
20:54 Those are old copper engraved printing stamps for newspapers back in the day when everything was still hand pressed. They would set the illustrated stamps in amongst the print stamps on a big form, ink it and then press it on the paper.. .
Loved seeing you all at your first live auction! Aren’t they fun? Also to help you with the pronunciation of your German wood carvings from the Erzgebirge .. I saw that others provided info on the region they are from .. pronounced Airts-geh-beer-geh.😊 great score on the Halloween, Christmas and polish pottery too! The Southwest, especially Phoenix, is one of my favorite areas in the U.S. Thanks for bringing us along.
I love auctions. My dad and I used to go every week when I was a kid. You can get great deals.
Congrats on a great day. Live auctions are so much fun, I've spent waaay too much do to the excitement. Love that you guys came to AZ, been living here for over 25 yrs now. Cheers!
That was fun!!!! Loved it, felt as nervous as you lol. Never been to one myself 🙂
Welcome to the world of auctions. It's exhilarating and nerve wracking at the same time.
The Limoge container that you thought was for powder is actually a hair receiver. Don't ask me why people saved their hair because I have no idea.
To make jewelry
They also braided the hair and upon death the family keeps the braid and a picture. My mom has many in her keep safe box. She is 78.
You did great Kayla! That was fun to watch. The little white & blue round lidded porcelain box is actually a “hair receiver.” Women used to put the hair from their brushes into the little hole to save it & some people made hair art from it. 👍🏻
A very cool time for you both. Those auctions are to confusing to me😂. I hope everything sells for you guys.😊❤
That was a fun video to watch
I ❤❤❤ live auctions. They are so exciting!
I absolutely love going to auction. They gets my adrenaline running on things I rea!ly want causing me to over bid at times.
You did a wonderful job Kayla bidding on things..
You and Matt worked so wel! together before the auction making decisions on the things you were wanting.
I Loved the video!
Sharon
Me too, Sharon. I always learn something new when I go to a live auction.
Hi Sharon 🌹
Merry Christmas ⛄🎄
This was very interesting. Don't know if I had the patience for all the waiting. I bet you are exhausted from that trip! So glad you both did it though, bc it makes for a very cool video series! You both are doing amazing!
Auctions look fun but would kick my anxiety into high gear !! Loving the trip
Kayla & Matt you guys did amazing at that auction. I love going to auctions and yes, it is stressful to bid at them. Kayla you did amazing on the bidding of your first auction. 👏❤️👏
That was really a fun video. You did great Kayla 😊
I’m surprised while in Arizona, you didn’t stop by where they sell all the lost items from the airport. Apparently you can get jewelry for real cheap and various other items. I’ve always wanted to fly there just for that purpose.
Limoges is not "lee mo jah"... it is "lee mo j" no a or ah at the end kinda like the J in jug..Love all your videos and you guys are now my fav. to watch. Keep em coming :)
26:41 The covered dish with the hole in the center of the cover is a hair receiver. Victorian women would save their hair from their hairbrushes and would then use it for doll's hair, wigs, and even fishing lures.
