Python Patrol is in the "modern half" of Larry's ARAH comic from IDW a lot. Darklon actually has purchased a ton of Python Patrol equipment and uniforms and has improved on it, at one point referring to "version four" of the concept. It is also implied that Darklon has been wearing Python Patrol clothes this whole time and we just didn't realize it.
Seeing as the subsequent version of Leatherneck has completely different accessories, the implication is there that Copperhead stole Leatherneck’s stuff.
There was a custimized version of some of the Python patrol in the box of Joes I got at the yard sale for my son. Copperhead had the waist piece of the Croc Master but the rest was his. My son used him as a diver because of the helmut and mask.
How cool considering this figure is current on my desk sitting in the Python Patrol A.S.P! It only took me until a few days ago to realize he was the Python Patrol commanding officer. I remember seeing them in Oct 1989 when visiting New York. I bought a second Tunnel Rat still on the shelf instead to get the missing flashlights from my first one. Thats how we replaced parts back then!
I've always wanted to army build this guy, since I saw this figure covered on Mikes forgotten figures blog. That must of been in 2002-2003. I still have yet to add this guy to my collection. Awesome review mate! I think I may grab a few of these soon.
Ways to improve this figure: 1) pick out the arm bands and the belts with black paint, 2) paint his inner thighs to match his shorts (the animation shows him this way), 3) give him a black version of Muskrat's machete (or even all of his accessories, like Night Force Muskrat)
The water moccasin and sky striker were the first gi joe toys I remember seeing at my babysitters house. I was like 4yrs old and I remember it like it was yesterday.
I actually really like python patrol, it's my favorite sub team..crazy enuff copperhead is the only figure I haven't gotten yet , him and the crimson guard where definitely the worst of the figures for that team
I prefer Version 1 Copperhead. ( I did have him and the Water Moccasin which I really liked too.) The green & yellow pattern almost looks like camouflage, but the Yellow Helmet and Underwear--Yuck. Maybe He had an accident and wet his pants.
I agree 100% with this review. i think that the file card change was due to the Origional Copperhead retiring or getting shanked in the kidney for not paying off his debts. This could be a just a random dude that knew of or had some other contact with the origional Copperhead since Brazil was mentioned, not Florida and this could also be why the moccasin wasn't issued. I had the Pythin Tele-Viper and Python ASP.
Well... A few points to make. I did get this as a kid when I was simply collecting G.I Joe for fun. At that time, I appreciated the throwback aspect of Python Patrol, Slaughters Marauders & Tiger Force, reissuing figures long gone from the toy shelf... Many of my original Version 1 figures from these lines were lost, broken, traded away or stolen (we had a rough neighborhood). From that aspect I did like Tiger Force & Python Patrol figures. Slaughters Marauders...??? I'll have to wait for the Low-Light review to tear into that one. But, you are correct- figure looks gaudy. I did like to pretend that Copperhead had cowardly gotten the drop on an unsuspecting Marine and shot him(or her) and taken the M-16 and backpack as a souvenir. You should've also mentioned that the pose Python Copperhead has in the card art is similar to Leatherneck's from 1986. AND, you should have mentioned that in Copperhead's cameo in World Without End Part 1, act 1, was the catalyst for the G.I. Joe's traveling to the parallel universe. While this was not as notorious as say Scrap-Iron or Firefly's roll in the killing of the Soft Master and Candy Appel, and costing Billy and eye and a leg, it is noteworthy.
I could never figure( not pun intended) why Hasbro went this way with this figure's colors, he didn't even match the color scheme with the other figures. Even his animated appearance looked better than this, I always liked the paint scheme they did for the Python Viper, too bad they didn't use that for all of them, that would have made more sense. Why did they choose yellow as the primary accent color? I could NEVER understand that, the Python vehicles looked so cool with the red and black, but that glaring yellow made them moving targets. I think the same bozo was put in charge of colors for Night Force too, when all the vehicles had bright red and glow in the dark decals (WTH?). UGH, gotta love the late 80"s/ early 90's.
The unpainted waist look like he is a Frankensteined figure. If I only knew that this was the proper look of the action figure, I could of picked him up when I saw him is a toy show Figure bin.
Expected some Gorn stains on the shirt lol Great review. I love Copperhead and everything Copperhead maybe comes from growing up in and near the swamps in NC, just still to this day dont have this figure but I want one bad
Has anyone ever customized a water moccasin in the Python Patrol color scheme? Since HCC 788 mentioned it, I can see in my imagination quite clearly. I agree that the yellow helmet and trunks look really silly, if they were different than he would look much better.
I never bought any of the pythons, I only liked the conquest. Cop won Leatherneck s stuff fair and square at cards! d. I don t know the type, but Larry Hama does, ask him when you see him. d. aside from the marauders, none of these remakes ever interested me. Zartan did nt want Coppy in his gang, he ate too many donuts, you know the type.... Gung doh had his mouth full of play doh, he could nt say the quote this time. good show Commander!
i'm a lil more forgiving to this figure than you are but that huge yellow diaper he is wearing has got to go! thxs for the copperhead fanservice, something i did not realize was missing from my life till you made this vid! X-D
I turned 12 in 1989. I was already moving away from action figures and a lot of toys in general. I was and will always be a fan of G.I. Joe but this crap made me stop caring to buy those toys at the time. I really do like the Python Patrol Viper and consider that just as good as the earlier red and blue version. I think copperhead is ok in general but the other Python Patrol toys are stupid just like pretty much everything Hasbro did to the line in the late 80's and 90's. I'm an old schooler when it comes to my joes and I like more GI in GI Joe. I think that's how they lost kids at that time. Trying to copy trends is no way to retain your loyal customers.
Good review. One of the other odd changes to the filecard was changing his presumed birthplace from the Florida Everglades to the Amazon Basin. Combined with the other little changes, it made me wonder if Python Copperhead was supposed to be the same character? Heck, I wasn't even sure if he was supposed to be an individual character or a trooper using Copperhead's mold. Eventually Operation Dragonfire settled the matter, but not before I army built a few of them for Python Patrol. So, I took one of my Copperheads and and swapped out his waist (totally agree, the weakest part of his unoform) for an extra Iron Grenadier one I had. The reds matched and he looked a lot better as the actual Copperhead. Overall, I really liked Python Patrol, but they've done better versions of them. Do you have the Toys R' Us 6-pack set from the early 2000s? That set is more what the latest convention set seems to be based on.
African I remember the original copperhead as wearing no shirt, so to me it looked like they had colored as flesh and was wearing a yellow Speedo. Needless to say I did not like it
Aw man, this is one of my favorite Joe figures. Oh, well, different strokes.
This version makes Copperhead look like Airtight’s evil brother.

After seeing that drawing I can never take Copperhead seriously again. Too funny and as always a great review.

Your shirt makes me think Charlie Brown joined Python Patrol. I like that idea :)
Peter Robbins, who provided the voice of Charlie Brown on several animated specials, was sent to prison: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Robbins_(actor)
Great review. And the Coppertone joke made me laugh. Well done sir.
I wish they would have done something different with trunks. Python Copperhead and Vapor both have weird trunks over their pants like a super hero.
Here's to Byron and a speedy recovery!!
There was a Brazilian release of the moccasin and dreadnok swampfire in python patrol colors. Very rare to find. Force naja.
The only reason I would've bought this guy would've been for the black M-203.
me and my brother were huge gijoe fans as kids we liked all the bad guys and at once had the whole Python patrol force we had fun with these figures.
I just realized why your shirt has that pattern. Only took me two weeks!
Thank you HCC for your well wishes.

High stakes illegal speed boat races? Someone tell Vin Diesel. We got another Fast and the Furious.
In Brazil, Copperhead Python Patrol was released With black trunks, and a black sniper rifle instead the M-16 graned launcher.
The water moccasin and sky striker were the first gi joe toys I remember seeing at my babysitters house. I was like 4yrs old and I remember it like it was yesterday.
So glad I found this channel!!! Great stuff man👍 I need to go get all the boxes and boxes of my GI joes from childhood and see what I still have.
I like sassy HoodedCobraCommander.
Lol, I liked your T shirt more than the figure!😂 Nice job man!
Sending prayers for Byron.
Nice drawing.
I actually really like python patrol, it's my favorite sub team..crazy enuff copperhead is the only figure I haven't gotten yet , him and the crimson guard where definitely the worst of the figures for that team
HCC&788| You shouldn't be sorry about the Coppertone Drawing! It was funny

I love the python patrol colors. even crimson guard. tho the original is cool. so Is this one!
Copperhead was one of my best friends favorite characters. I miss him. Have you done Destro v2? That was his favorite. Keep up the good work!
Love the python patrol, particularly the python conquest. My new favorite python patrol item of all time has to be that t-shirt.

Thank you again so much for sharing your videos with us!

Great review! I wish I didn’t trade off all my PP & TF a couple months ago oh well. Byron’s a great guy...actually met him through your channel.
Looks like a Luchador with a gun.😂😂😂
lol
Phytonized reviwer. That so cool.
I always saw Python Patrol as a Cobra special forces equivalent.
Yellow underwares ??? LOL....ugh he's bright...nice work
Expected some Gorn stains on the shirt lol Great review. I love Copperhead and everything Copperhead maybe comes from growing up in and near the swamps in NC, just still to this day dont have this figure but I want one bad
I like the bow on the panties in the thumbnail art!
Love the Coppertone knock off!
Get well Byron
dem gutts Thank you, I'm on the up and up.
I thought you were dressed like Charlie Brown at first. But then I got it. Clever ,that's very clever....
Thumbs up just for the Coppertone Copperhead picture
thank you for attempting cos play with that very interesting t shirt
Copperhead/Copper-tone..... BEST. DAD. JOKE. EVER! 😂 😂 😂
Great review HCC and my best wishes to Byron.
Oh by the way. The dog from the original copper tone ads was arrested for sexual harassment 😂
arrrgh!! the yellow underwear worn over the pants! And I agree, he doesn't deserve such a fine rifle.
HCC where did you get that tshirt from?! I want one badly.

good show Commander!
I kind of like the Python Copperhead.
Is that Matt Foley who lives down by the river in a van
Fun video and funny jokes in the video
Another great review! I'm not a big fan of this figure. The unpainted pelvis ruined the green and yellow lattice pattern.
i'm a lil more forgiving to this figure than you are but that huge yellow diaper he is wearing has got to go! thxs for the copperhead fanservice, something i did not realize was missing from my life till you made this vid! X-D
Wish there was room for the Cobra symbol

Great review of yellow panties
It is ugly, but I always loved Python Copperhead.
Did you make that t-shirt yourself? You made that t-shirt, yeah, you did.

Sweet
Slaughters Marauders rock
Coppertone! LMAO! Well done.
Lol that shirt
At least the colours distract from his weird fetish pants.
not a fan of the python patrol especially copperhead design but cool background of the characters
The colors was bad, but Python Patrol was lacking in vehicles whoc made it worse.
African I remember the original copperhead as wearing no shirt, so to me it looked like they had colored as flesh and was wearing a yellow Speedo. Needless to say I did not like it
ve he cl
oh stop, he's not that ugly - I've seen uglier ...("ice-cream soldier").
I always hated Python Patrol and Tiger Force. Both were horrible concepts to me as a kid and even today
