Saw her in Milwaukee, years ago... She was under the weather but she pulled up like a crop duster and nailed the rest of the show like the true Pro that she is. Love her. She's a world treasure.
Only recently discovered Lucinda when I saw a cd on sale. Looked up car wheels and wondered,,,, how on earth did I ever miss thing amazing singer and beautiful lady. I absolutely love the album “Car Wheels on a gravel road”! Awesome!
Sometimes you come across an artist who ALWAYS seems to have an awesome collection of players in their band. Absolutely everyone here is at the top of their game. A joy to listen to, and affirmation that Lucinda Williams is very special.
@@willwetherell7265 on virtually any other stage Kenny would stand out as head and shoulders above the rest of the players. Here, like when he plays with Marty Stuart, Kenny fits in great.
This song was big at the time and I never realised who or how good she was at the time. This particular night captured forever is one of the best live shows I’ve seen by anyone.
Today I learned Lucinda is not driving music. I put Car Wheels on a Gravel Road" on the radio as I drove for breakfast. The urge to close my eyes to absorb her depth made it nearly impossible to drive. I think she is the coolest, deepest female singer there is.
I’m honored. Not into social media so much. Am proud to have never been on Facebook. Or Twitter for that matter. All I use is my email, cdmacaulay53@yahoo.com. Love hearing your songs come up on the radio.
@@c.d.macaulay66 it’s not just pictures - Lucinda evokes sounds all the time in her lyrics... just the title of this song for example. “Screen door slamming’ shut” we all know that sound. Dogs barking, Loretta on the radio... it goes on. She also seems to be connected to locations very much. Her stories don’t happen in unnamed places - she usually if not always gives us the context of a specific location. Guess what I’m trying to say is that she “paints” a complete picture including vision, sound, location, etc. One of my favorite lyricists of all time. P.S. Did Lucinda get in touch with you or was that a troll? Apologies for my cynicism ...
Actually, I just heard her sing the song for the documentary Ghosts of Highway 20 and I was like DAMN, who is singing that song!?! She sounds amazing 🤩 - which took me down the UA-cam rabbit hole to learn more about her. I’m ashamed to say I had never heard of her before (and I love this type of music). It’s too bad that she doesn’t get more recognition because she really is amazing. I’m definitely a new fan :)
Did you hear an interview recently in probably 2020 about when her dad heard this song and he cried. And she couldn't understand why. And he said I didn't realize that he had made her cry. And him being a poet and everything it meant quite a lot to her that he really understood...
@@charlottereynolds8394 I´m inclined to respect most people´s taste in music ;-). I´m listening to a wide range of (popular) music since 1978... and yes, for my present taste (is has shifted a bit over the years, yes!) this still is one of the 10 best songs ever written.

I might be city born, but when I was young there were a lot of gravel roads I was taken on and later drove myself not too far from my city. The very house I live in today was accessed by a gravel road when it was first built. Later, Lucinda's lyrics brought it all back to me.
So glad Russell Crowe (actor) turned me onto Lucinda’s music, he wanted her to sing in his band “30 Odd Foot of Grunts”. Thanks Russell 😉 Have seen her perform twice in Tulsa, OK 🇺🇸 she’s absolutely fantastic!! ❤❤❤
Lucinda was supposed to do a gig London 2002, but with 9/11 and her fear of fly, it got put off to 2003. Shepherd’s Bush Empire, London. I finally got to see her. Just great.
In hindsight, 20/20 and all that stuff! I bought the CD for my trips up the mountain to the gated community of, "..........................." ask Timmy.

How come this incredible singer is not acknowledged as one of the best in the business. What a voice!
💯 !!
To a lot of her peers, she is. Songwriters will put her right up there with John Prine.
That was, indeed, mighty tasty. Never gets old.
Lucinda is a fcking national treasure and she should be made Queen Of Everything That Matters
Her accent never sounds forced or fake. A lot of the new "country" singers need to pay attention.
I was totally just thinking the same thing. That's crazy I saw your comment. Perfect amount of twang.
It’s because Lucinda is from Louisiana, perfect, authentic accent!!!❤❤❤
I grew up in OK and have a slight “twang” also,…southerners…

.You're so right. The instrumentation and orchestration (fancy words for a gravel road to be sure) are always top notch! Tasteful playing all around.
It never hurts to have Kenny Vaughn in the mix.

Had the pleasure of seeing her on tour with Richard Thompson when this album came out... It was truly amazing... She is a treasure..
After all these years why isn't she on everyones radar, such a talented singer/songwriter

I know that sound, having lived back in the woods on a half-mile gravel driveway. 🚗🚙
I love this song. Great live version. Sounds as good as the album. Lucinda looks great, and Kenny is killing it on guitar as usual... Love Lucinda!
This is really a perfect live performance !
