Fortunately, God blessed me with the most amazing math teacher for my HISET prep! I'm super grateful for her. I am taking the MATH EXAM tmw! I’ve decided to get my GED . I’ve now realized how important it is to obtain it. giving the opportunity to work but can’t go any further without a GED. I’m 43 years old only I reached to 10th grade. I feel like I’ve failed myself I’m ashamed of myself. Im determined to self study and watch videos such as yours hoping and praying that I absorb and gain the knowledge I need to pass my GED. Math is the one that’s getting the best of me thoughts it’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve studied equations slopes geometry and so on just so difficult to understand . Pray for me that I gain the intelligence that you have and share with people like myself thank you so much for your time you out to help us learn and explain .

I recommend looking into your local adult education program. The extra help will likely quicken your process rather than self studying.

I had a rough childhood, because of that i never really thought i was smart enough to obtain my diploma... I was a teen mom in 2016 I decided to "try" back in 2017 and passed my reading barely and gave up. Fast forward to August 2022 I decided I was going to try again after having my daughter :) I really put in effort, I was stressed and scared of failure but I took it one section at a time! passed all test with nothing less than a 14 out of a possible 20!!!!! I just passed my last test MATH! on 01/27/23 thank you so much for your videos you helped me score a 16 on science and 14 on math! Forever grateful I can now say I have a diploma!

I passed my last hiset today which is Math with a 14! 🎉 Reading was a 14. Writing was a 15 with a 3 on essay! Science was a 19!!! And social studies was a 15! So proud of myself! Her videos helped me some!

This morning, I took my Hiset math, and this is my second time taken it. Honestly, it started a bit crazy because they couldn't verify my i.d from my cam but the support was able to clarify it. Then while taking the test the proctor asked me twice while testing if I was done?? It made my nerves so bad ya'll and I just felt the tears roll up and roll down, but I kept going. The test has changed and not to discourage anyone at all, but they have 55 questions on the test now instead of 50. I'm sooo ready to put this behind me so I can pursue other things I want to do like walk with the graduates this year 2023! Keep going everyone!

I'm 46 and I just got mine. So you can surely do it as well. Just be prepared to read and understand long paragraphs in the RLA. Maths is very difficult, the questions are not as easy as these tutorials. Then Science you have to read and understand graphs. You can do it don't doubt yourself. I'm from Jamaica, English is not my first language even though we can speak it and write it to some extent. So you can do it
Finally finished with my hiset test. Passed the math section 2nd try, failed the first one last week with a 6. 1st one seemed easier than the 2nd one, thought I failed this one too.... questions were kind of tough to answer. My first thought to a few was how the f*** I know 😂😂 but I tried my best to answer them... time was running out, so I started guessing at a few. I skipped through the questions and answered the easy ones went back to the harder ones. All I can tell yall is to just study til you feel comfortable and just try on most of the problems.
I finally passed my math GED test today! Math was not my strong point and I keep on feeling discourage each time when I am going to take my math GED test. But I am so grateful for all of these videos that is on UA-cam that has helped me passed my test today. Thankyou so much for making these videos!! I just passed Math today that was my hardest subject and I passed on my first try. And They’re discontinuing the Hiset in Nj after this month so this was my last day and if I failed I’d have to take math through the Ged I can’t believe I made it!!!!!

@@caitlinduarte8271 i don’t blame you it was really hard, I barely passed with a 9. One thing I can tell you is that you only have to get 14-15 questions correct out of 55. So try to focus on your strong areas so if you have to guess you’re certain you get atleast 6-7 questions correct, based off probability you can guess and probaly answer about 10 questions right
@@caitlinduarte8271 If I can pass it anyone can lol, don’t be nervous and don’t overthink u can skip questions look for the ones you know and come back to the others and give your best educated guess. Try not to be intimidated by the amount of questions. I believed that if god wanted me to pass it I would and I held on to that belief, have faith and you can do it. Manifest it and you will pass. I lie to you not I guessed on probaly 80% of the test if not more I don’t even know how I passed I just believed that I would. And it was my last test.

Michelle, you are my favorite motivation coach ! Love your smile, your sparkle and your method of explaining !! I'm 44 and planning to get my GED in order to join Rasmussen college. Only because I lost my high school diploma from India and despite having 2 bachelors degrees from India, Rasmussen insists on getting my high school diploma. I've been so nervous and anxious and unsure of being able to crack this, but with your genuine smile and your words of encouragement, life has shown me the path to the pursuit of my purpose. @@mariahmarie1752 studied really hard for about 8 to 10 hours a day for a week for math. Knowing it would be the hardest out of the 5 tests for hiset I really put the extra study effort in so that I would feel very confident and know my stuff when I got in the test :) highly recommend you take the extra time to study and really get down the basics of math and never forget Mariah you got this and I know you're gonna ace it. Keep your confidence up and feed off the love and support of everyone around you ❤ you're going to pass i know you will :D

I've been studying for my HiSET for months now. I finally scheduled my math test because, despite studying for as long as I have (every single day, 5 hours a day for 6 months), I felt like I was just stuck. I wasn't progressing but I wasn't backsliding either. My test is Monday and I started panicking, so I've been looking all over the place but nothing was really helping. Now, after watching this, I feel MUCH much more prepared for it. I'm still not sure I'll pass but now I'm sure I'll get a much better score on it than I would've without it :D

Hi Michelle, I am 29 and have moved from Australia to the USA in October 2022. I didn't finish my secondary education in AU, as a result I don't qualify for positions in the industry I've worked in for 9 years (flight attendant). I started my GED in early December 2022 and have just passed my final GED exam. I just wanted to thank you for everything you are doing! You have a teaching style, demeanor, and passion that really helped me engage in the study. I have always floundered at math, you got me through it, and I cannot thank you enough! Keep doing what you're doing, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!

The problem I am facing is that I feel most of the study videos and books are outdated. When I go to take the actual math tests it's so different, and more complicated.
I would look at A LOT of resources! Check out my other math videos for more examples. This video only touched a few math topics.
I’ve passed Writing, Social studies and Reading and science. I only need to pass the Math now.. This will be my 4th time taking it. I really hope I pass this time.

Im taking it again tomorrow. I know I can do this I've been studying. Im still nervous though. Thanks for your videos.

you can do for problem 7 is. {14x+120=10x+180}
and for problem 19 if you do. { (x+143)+x=180} it gave you deference value for x but when you substitute with the answer you will have true value
seem for problem 20
problem 29 the c of a circle id {c=pi * d } or {c=2 pi * r} but If you do the math for the number given {c=2 * 3.14 * 11 = 69.08}
problem 38 you can do I using algebra P= 2(x*5)+2(x*2)

I'm 22 I live in Southern Texas I only went to school from preschool through 4 grade I got some education but not middle school or Jr high and high school when I was younger I had autism it really effected my ability to learn

years ago i made the biggest mistake of my life and i quit school i allowed those around me to decide my life for me i was bullied and felt alone and i made the mistake of allowing them to win not realizing that the outcome would only define my life i am now 31 years old and a mother of 2 and no education to fall back on i have made the decision that i will get my hiset to prove to the me that i let down its never to late to better myself for my babys the moment i read my email saying that im not alone and have the support

#1 shouldn't you find the amount of taxes in $706 first, then subtract $55, then divide by 3??? My answer was $195.84 per entrepreneur.
#29: 2×3.14×11=69.08
#46: 3.04+9.12+1.9=14.06
I'm using the exact same TI-30XS calculator. I saw your corrections for 29 further down in the comments but 46?
On problem 33 - nothing says that the triangle is an equilateral one, so you can't just assume the second side's length without trigonometry
Is there ever anyone on here that is older than dirt, like me? The older you get the harder it is to pass all of this. I never hear from anyone that is my age to tell me their story. It would be nice to hear from people that have done this that are in their 70s, 80s, may give me a push.

Hi Michelle. Thank you for your time and for your help. I am grateful. I have a question for problem 15. The word problem states 'Kell went to the store and purchased three pair of shoes for $18.20.' The word problem doesn't have the word each meaning that it didn't say that each pair of shoes were $18.20 but you verbally added each when you were solving the problem. Would you please explain how we get that each pair of shoes were $18.20 when the word problem doesn't say each? The word problem does ask how much EACH pair of socks cost. Thank you.
You’re correct the answer is $5.28 for each pair of socks. Shoes 3-$18.20, socks $63.40/ 12 = Total $81.60.
Another way to do this is by just adding the 35 dollars and the 10 dollars, which give us 45.00 dollars than you just subtract the 134.24 from the 45.00 dollars and it give you an answer of 89.25, which you will divide by 12.75 which give you the answer of 7 dollars. instead of going through the process of having an X and moving numbers around. I am not an expert but i will continue watching her videos to keep learning.

I find problems with xs ys a and b so hard to understand specially when you have to cancel one side and move numbers to one side 😔

when I'm trying to find the circumference of a circle for problem 29.) when I plug in 2x3.14x11 I keep getting 69.08. not 103.62. What could I be doing incorrectly ?? thank you so much for your help!!! xoxox
She corrected it to 69.08 further down in the comments, you're right as was I because that was the answer I got too😂
@36:40... another way for me is 3hr= 180 min, 180-110= 70 minutes travel time, which is 35 minutes to & 35 minutes from his house . The miles is 45 mph = 45 divided by 60= 0.75 miles per minute, therefore 35x0.75 is 26.25 miles each. Yeah maths is too complicated at times 😂
Problem 15:
Sometimes it’s hard to tell what the problem means. Kell purchased three pairs of shoes for 18.20.
That sounds like the total cost rather than individual cost. Should I always assume it is an individual cost for these questions?

Do they expect us to show all of that work? Example, on the second question we could just subtract 45 from 134.25 and get 89.75 in our head, then devide that by 12.75. would that be acceptable?
Nope! You actually don't need to show any work!
For question#5: why is S is not 4 + nc but A is 10 + nc?
Can you tell me which practice test is most similar to what the actually HiSET is like? I'm nervous to try it because I watch your videos and I pause it and do the math problems myself and I'm usually correct. When I take other practice tests online, I fail and don't get them right. I don't know if yours are easier than the actually thing or if they're about the same and the other practice tests are just harder, thanks!

Problem 3 doesn’t make sense to me, I keep getting it wrong. I keep getting 89,25 for 7 shirts are you’re saying and when I subtract 45 of 134,25 I get 79,25, which is 10 less from my answer

Feedback-While writing problem 15, please mention 'each' after giving the price of the shoes, or else it seems like its the total cost of 3 pairs of shoes without the 'each'.

I took my ged in 2003 jus failed the math can i jus take that failed subject in 2023? Or do i have to retake the entire thing?
Unfortunately, you have to retake the entire test. Just to prepare you, all of the tests are significantly more difficult than when you took them 20 years ago. However, be Purely Persistent; you can do this!
@@PurelyPersistent thank i for ur response I found out In New york I just have to take the math test. Spoke with Albany New york the main place the distributes and keeps transcripts. So for those that took they exams 8-5 years ago and failed jus one long as it was not the tasc exam as the tasc was discontinued in 2019 so those hae to take everything again even if u just failed one subject. Now if u took the GED go back and take the failed subjects those scores still count. I also found out if u failed the reading and language arts but pass everything else I was told by Albany u have to retake the entire exam because the way its broken up in so many parts. Which is dumb. If you live in New York dont know for the other states.
On 15. It doesn't say they bought the shoes for $18.20 each. It says they bought 3 pairs for $18.20. So do you do it both ways then see which answer is on the multiple choice? LOL

for problem 29 i did everything step by step and i keep getting 69.08 when i enter 2 times 3.14 times 11 i did it over and over and its the same results. i keep trying to get 103.62 and i cant seem to get the same answer you did
I need help so bad. I failed at least 3 times with my Hiset math. I found out I am suffering from "Discalculia" brought on by trauma to the head which was a result of a car accident I was in over 20 years ago which makes things very difficult. any advice?

I'm not understanding the nickles pennies problem, or the one before it, you guys didn't really explain how you divided the fraction with the one whole number and got your answer. I understand you used a calculator, but it would still help me to understand the math, but also, to be told what I *would* do on the calculator, if I had one. (I will of course be getting one.) But yeah, I hope you understand I'm just sharing, I need help! 🙏💕😊
Ahh!! I am not able to clarify a math question very well in a comment. However, I suggest that you watch my calculator video because it will teach you how to work with fractions on the calculator. Best of luck!

6x4=24 so 100+ 24 = 124
Now i minus 1240 - 124 = 1116 \4 = 279 children tickets
