I have made four blankets in this yarn and am starting a fifth. It's my favorite yarn. I bought a 12 ball case from Michaels online for $100 so it worked out to more like $9 a ball. I use a 6mm hook. I hope they keep making this yarn and expand the colors.
Yes the Hobbii Horizon are more expensive but they also have 601 yards on the ball, with 19 color choices. Also they are a worsted DK, instead of a 4 weight.
Two of my favorite yarn attributes. Cotton blend and chainette! I'm really disappointed though because none of the Michaels anywhere near me carry the Blossom Caron Cakes. Plus, I promised myself I'd cutaway back on my yarn buying this year. However, just yesterday my thoughtful 9 year old asked if there is a yarn I really like, because he wants to buy it for me. So I may end up with that gorgeous green Blossom Cake. 🧶
You completely made my night.. lol the cats were hysterical. My animals do that too! Ps that was a very pretty yarn. I just started crocheting again after 28 years. I need a way to save money on this. Thank you!
Lovely stitch definition. I think this is something I need to get. I watched the shopping video, and this was my second favorite colorway. There are so many pretty colors in this one. You're right about the first row being fiddly. It always is. Same with knitting. Once you can get the first row done, it's usually smooth sailing. Got the giggles over your kitties. At least they weren't yowling and hissing at each other.
I was able to find some of this on a shopping trip yesterday. I have been trying to decide what to make with it. I was able to get three cakes and your video has helped me understand the short a bit more. Thank you.
Hi. I saw and felt this one on a recent trip to Michaels but didn’t buy it yet. I usually try to buy only when I have a project in mind. Loved the softness of it though and can’t wait to buy and work with it. Thanks for sharing!

I definitely felt it was thin like a 3 weight. That’s the only reason I didn’t buy it. It reminded me of cotton cakes, which I love. I bought the Cinnamon Swirl cakes, but haven’t tried them yet. They felt more like a regular 4 weight to me, which I prefer. Thanks for the review!

Thx for your review! The yarn is beautiful. The only thing I hate about using expensive yarn for projects is that if I use coupons to get a better deal, I risk not getting the same dye lot. I was in Michael’s today & I saw these new yarns. I agree the blossom cakes was very soft! The cinnamon cake was not nearly as soft. I do not have a 40% off coupon in my app, I have a 30% off😢. I was disappointed that the only yarn on sale was 30% off the other Caron cakes. Nothing else on sale!
I'm using the Blossom Cakes for TL yarncrafts Bahama blanket and it's working up really nicely. 20٪ coupon plus rewards at Michael's brought the price down to just over 8$ per skein which I thought was reasonable.
I can hardly wait to get my hands on both of the new cakes. As for the blossom cakes, I have watched several reviews on it and no one has mentioned the similarities to ice picasso yarn. Its not shiny like picasso but the style is exactly the same with the chain spun construction and the halo. I love the color transition too.
i had no idea that it had cotton...i think thats a big reason theyre popular?. the one i was going to get from hobbii which has a similar yardage and cotton x acrylic is so expensive. i think they would be nice for florida? i havent made anything super big with just cotton but i need to move around and have the flexibility of acrylic right? xD, i liked the transission of that cake, i though it wasnt really for me but i actually like it. now i need to go to michaels :( lol they are at 12 but with second 50% off is that good or should i wait LOL
