Maybe check out livecoco I spotted that they had brush heads for oral b toothbrushes? Don't know anything about the brand or the materials it's made from because I haven't looked yet myself but hopefully they would be good.

I don't think they should be a thing...bamboo is still wood and electric toothbrush heads need a strong material and metal bits inside for them to work and not break easily
They would be a nightmare to compost

In relation to shower curtains - my grandma uses lace as her shower curtain. It's light and dries quickly, but stops the water going everywhere. She's been using it for like 40 years so obviously works ok 🤷🏼‍♀️

I went to a local “zero waste” store the other day and was blown away by the amount of stuff made in China with their brand sticker on it. As someone who actually researched these products, I knew not to buy most of their items. Wish I could tell others not to buy from there too.

If you ever make your way to Boston, there's an amazing low-waste store that purposefully sources from local owners and owners from disadvantaged communities (women, people of color). Some of the lowest guilt shopping I get to do.

As a conservation biologist that makes me so happy that you are educating people to actually know where there items come from, not just believe a green sticker. I also laughed when you casually said yup thats where our adult toys live. Cuz people have them and I think its funny that its always a huge secret or shame unless you are in the business somehow. Again love how open you are.

Thanks for sharing. So inspiring! We use cloth for toilet waste. If a clothing item is too worn to donate, or is an undergarment, I cut it up to use for cloth wipes. I hang a small bag of clean wipes on the toilet paper roll holder. Then dirty wipes go into a water proof wet bag. It zips up so no smells or leaks. Then unzip bag and dump into washer. I do feel like I should leave a disclaimer note in my bathroom for guests! Lol

I started dating a guy 2 months ago, he had no interest or knowledge in anything zero waste except that he recycled. So I sat down on the couch to watch this video today when i got the notification. He looked at me and said "I love when you watch her videos because I know it's something you're passionate about implementing in your life. You dont just talk about it, you look for new ways to eliminate waste that you maybe hadn't considered before. You really live it". And I think I need more people like that in my life. I love how candid and open you are, and the emphasis you put on not having to do everything perfectly and it's okay to do what little you can to the best you can do it.
I do have one small question, what do you do for flossing?? This is the one dental care item that I have not been able to find a vegan and zero waste version of! All the zero waste ones are made with silk, and all the vegan ones are not biodegradable. Have you found any suitable alternative?

For TP - you could also go cloth. :) We started using cloth wipes with the kiddos when they were babies (we used cloth diapers), it made it easier to keep using them when they started learning how to use the potty. Then we just all started using them plus a bidet on one of our toilets.

Great Video! I've honestly never heard of brush with bamboo... my go-to bamboo toothbrush is by The Humble Co. I believe they are based out of Sweden and they provide toothbrushes for children in developing countries. I really hope they don't drop ship though -- I'll have to check that out.
There was one brand of bamboo toothbrush I ordered and it came wrapped in plastic packaging. Feels like it totally negates the whole point of buying a bamboo toothbrush LOL. Greenwashing runs rampant.

Love your videos I can’t seem to find anyone similar yet to your videos over here in the UK as it would be great to be able to have this much great advice about products over here.
One product I have purchased through watching your videos is the pela case and I’m so happy with it! Advantage at using your discount code too so thank you very much for that. A lot of the lifestyle comes down to the individual doing research on the best products that they can get and some is trial and error but as long as your putting your best food forward, towards that lifestyle your doing your bit for the environment. :)
I have also already purchased who gives a crap and found they are the best so far for toilet paper and have subscribed so they are delivered on a regular basis. :)

New(er) subscriber here! I love this video as well as your others that I've seen so far! I use a menstrual cup with my period underwear! (And honestly it's useful to have when I work outside during the summer because they absorb sweat as well 😳). I wanted to note too that when I was looking for reusable underwear for the first time I had come across some unpleasant accusations about the CEO of Thinx. I can't remember specifically what that was now, but I did end up going with a different company. Still love the concept and any way to reduce our waste!!

When I first found your channel, I really wanted to go zero waste but then I wasn't quite sure where to begin and I started buying a bunch of products that I didnt actually end up using very often. Then, I decided to go 100% vegan a couple weeks ago (I had quit milk and eggs but still ate dairy before that) and found that I had been struggling to find even vegetables zero waste which was really frustrating. We bought reusable produce bags but I still live with my family and don't necessarily buy my own food (I will start to soon, especially because my siblings aren't vegan). I would love it if anyone could share tips on how to juggle being low-waste and vegan especially as a student. I'm so glad that theres this community out here, and I love your content and the message that you put out there Shelbi.

I'm a zero waste student too! One thing I recommend is buying the produce that is in season (cheaper and more likely to be package free) and then chopping it up or cooking it and storing in the freezer.

You can also use a smashed up overripe banana to exfoliate. I saw it on a vegnews article and it said to leave it on for 15 to 30 min but I only leave it on for 10 minutes because thats when my skin gets irritated and I know its ready to take off. I’ve tried the mad hippie one and different kinds of chemical exfoliants and they all make my skin feel the same way as the banana does, irritation is just normal with chemical exfoliants, as long as you wash it off the irritation should stop.

Just so you know , there have been multiple studies that have proved sunscreens DO NOT cause coral reef bleaching, the rise in temperatures does that. So you don't need to worry about a sunscreen being "reef safe" because that is just a marketing thing. Love your videos so much

I know this is an older video. and we use family wipes and a bidget. But I always keep toilet paper on hand between washes and guest. knowing the company I'm supporting is supporting others in a positive way is reassuring. These 48, (with your code) will come in handy and probably last 18 months to 2 years.

I don't know if you will see this because this is an older video but I recommend Youth to the People. Their cleanser is great and stands in for a toner too, they are a low waste company. Also, I recommend Krave which is also a low waste company. The creator Liah Yoo is actively looking to lower the foot print of her company. Krave even has a recycle guide for each product. Some of her products like Great Barrier Relief even donates towards saving the coral reefs.

I noticed the same thing with my hair about conditioner. I have very straight hair that tends to get really greasy, and not using conditioner lets me have an extra day or so before I have to shower or wash my hair again. Wish I’d stopped using conditioner years earlier because for me personally it just made my hair worse

Have you ever tried “Sugaring waxing”? It’s pretty much zero waste and it last longer than saving. You basically mix sugar (vegan) and fresh lemon juice. There’s no waste and the waste created from the hair removal process can be diluted in warm water and used to water your trees or just compost it with your food scraps. Super easy and lasting results plus no harm to the earth!

    Hey Shelbi!
Could you do a video on recycling programs like TerraCycle?
I'm cleaning out my bathroom and I don't want to have to put my plastic containers in the landfill if I can help it, but I want to know what the best option is.
Also, TerraCycle has recycling boxes for things like markers and pencils that would be good for schools! I think I'm gonna message my school's environmental club to look into it and see if we can make it happen.
    Any advice appreciated!
