You admitted to not wearing deodorant, smelling "a little bit", and not taking showers for multiple days in a row. I absolutely LOVE this. This is exactly the opposite of the strict, high-maintenance nonsense that I've seen on a lot of TikToks and on YT where women show their vigorous, multi-step routines where they strip their bodies of every natural thing in order to slather on bottles and bottles of chemicals. Thank you for being so candid. Also, depending on how long you have been Vegan, you probably don't have any malodorous body smells because you're plant-based.
I love that you dont just throw your old stuff out because it's not zero waste!!!! That's so much more wasteful and goes against what zero waste is about. I loved this informative video, I just found your channel now :)
Who Gives a Crap is a toilet paper company who make their papers from recycled office paper and bamboo. All their packaging is paper, and they also donate a chunk of profits to build toilets in places that need them. They ship the rolls to your door in large quantities. I recommend 👍🏻
they come wrapped separately with paper, but i’ve found you can use the wrapping for a paper towel, or even as gift wrap (sound weird but the wrapping is really pretty)
Not smelling when you sweat could be a mutated gene. I don’t smell either and I also have dry ear wax (gross I know lol better than smelling though). But those two characteristics in combination apparently is symptoms of a specific mutated gene
WOAH! That is so so so interesting!!! I feel like I do kinda have dry ear wax too haha but I wonder if that's just a coincidence or if this is a common thing? SO interesting! x
That mutated gene is prominent in northeast Asia! When I used to live there deodorant wasn't a thing, and still kind of aren't, because body odor is considered something you get only if you are a particularly gross person or worked out to a point one was drenched in sweat (and in that case you'd hop into a shower immediately anyway, so still no B.O.). If someone started having body odor after just a regular day, people would be concerned that he/she has a medical condition lmao
The "rock crystal" is actually mineral salts. Yes it needs wet skin or wet the crystal. The salts actually prevent and kill the odour causing bacteria. There is 0 Aluminum Chlorhydrate in the one I use. After drying off I use quick spritz of Lavender oil mixed with water. I have run 1/2 marathons, sweat and had no odour at the end.
Just a suggestion that I personally use for my toothpaste it’s called bite and it’s a bunch of toothpaste tablets that come in a glass bottle and I have found them to work really well. Also great suggestions!
Oh, one more thing! I've heard from plumbers that coffee grinds shouldn't go down the drain because they don't melt or quick enough, and easily clog drains. I was told sugar scrubs are okay though :)))
Love that you mentioned fluoride! So many people avoid it, but it's such a good thing for the enamel of your teeth! I don't need deodorant if I wash my armpits every day. I do use a spritz of water with a few drops of essential oil for a hint of scent. I also use a sprayer I bought hooked up to my toilet as a bidet. It was easy to install and can be removed without causing any damage to the toilet. TMI warning: The downsides are that it's cold water only and I still use toilet paper for #2.
Gosh, at my parents' house, the bathroom water thermostate broke, so now there's only cold water coming from the bidet and sink... That's not my favourite thing.
I totally agree with fluoride thing. I definitely think it's a personal decision if ya want to use it, but I personally, am on the pro-fluoride side haha. But that's so good to know that there are easy bidet solutions! I definitely want to look into that soon! 💛
I was going to comment about the fluoride to! I have been looking for a toothpaste that is zero waste with fluoride and I cant find find anything 😩 and when I look at different videos at other Zero wasters they say its bad for you. So confused... but since I eat things with sugar when want, I feel I need fluoride.
Hi guys! I just want to make a quick comment about *fluoride* just so that my intentions/beliefs on it don't get twisted by interpretations here. I 10000% put my foot in my mouth mentioning that, and firstly, I acknowledge that that was wrong. I am NOT a medical professional (just as I always say). So I was relaying information from someone who was, after I had spoken to my dentist and some members of my family (who are Drs) about it. I have seen it WAY too many times, and have personally been *deeply* affected by UA-camrs in the alternative health space giving absurd health advice that I took seriously. I in no way want to be one of them, that’s something that is very important to me, since it affected my own journey in a very negative light. I would never ever want to make recommendations that encourage [specifically the young impressionable portion of my audience (although my audience is actually relatively older, in relation to UA-cam “norms”)] irresponsible behaviour. I genuinely wanted to include it because I didn’t want to be irresponsible, but I didn’t word my intentions clearly, and misspoke. That was a mistake. I was running around doing a million things the day I filmed, rushed into filming to get a “to do” checked off, and didn’t think before saying what I said. I had made a mental note to say something about fluoride so that I didn’t misinform someone who might have thought it was in there before they trusted my advice, and and purchased it. And also for a fear of getting backlash from people advocating for fluoride use, had I not mentioned it. *What I meant to say, or should have said, was:* “If fluoride is something you’re concerned about, just be known that there isn’t any in here and you’ll have to find an alternative means of getting it, if that’s the case.” Or just not mentioned it at all (what I should have done), because again, I am not a medical professional. I think that the use of fluoride is something that we ALL GET TO CHOOSE whether we would like to include it or not, especially given there is a lot of twisted information on both sides. Don't be quick to believe every "article" out there, and look to unbiased peer reviewed research. I know not everyone will agree with my opinions all the time, and that's cool. That's the reality of the internet, y'know. I do personally drink tap water. I’m young (and poor) and don’t own a filter. But I honestly don’t know enough about it!! Because again, I am not a medical professional. I think my stance on this would be a lot different if I was. And let’s be real, dental stuff has never been that interesting to me tbh so I never really got into researching it in FULL like my geeky brain usually likes to do with other health topics (which is something I don't talk about much on the internet, because again, don't want to give unqualified health advice on the internet). At the end of the day, *I AM A YOUNG UA-camR, not a medical professional* so DO NOT take my health advice (or another young youtuber's) as more trusting than your own research and speaking to someone who is. Question where studies come from, and look for as many sources as you can. And when in doubt, talk to a few individuals who understand the field better than you, and have done their own unbiased research. I should not have made a comment about it. And I hope that everyone knows they are free to include it or not, should they choose to. Just as I think I’m am free to drink tap water, because at this point in my journey, I choose to. Sorry for the panic for those of you who aren’t into fluoride. You’re entitled to your own decisions about YOUR health, as am I. Cheers & much luv x (p.s. Thnx 4 c0miNg 2 mi teD TaLk haha sorry for the novel jusssss bein’ honest over here.) 💛
Sedona Christina, I live in central Florida, and in my county the water isn’t fluoridated. But when I spoke with a dental hygienist, she said if you would like to avoid fluoride, a toothpaste with Xylitol is a good alternative since Xylitol also works as a enamel hardener. Just don’t let your dog get to it as ingesting Xylitol is deadly for dogs. This was a good video!
As far as confusing articles go - my city publishes their water information and it flat out says the fluoride is from industry waste 😳so it’s a no for us, at least as far as the water usage goes.
Lemon is a very good natural deodorant! I've realised that whenever I went to a new one, over time, it'd just cause me to smell so I decided to use lemons as they kill bacteria naturally and I've been loving it!
You should look into, if you havnt already, 'Bite' they make toothpaste tablets in a glass bottle and you can get refils sent to you, all plasic free and all packagig is re-used/ conpostable / recyclable! :D
Girl! I got a bidet attachment (made from plastic and metal) from Home Depot to add to my toilet and it has completely eliminated the need for TP. Shelby has a 7 day bidet challenge and it convinced me to get one. I love it! I feel so much cleaner since using it (no mid-afternoon funk from the nether regions), and you get to control how much water you use. I still have TP for guests, but I personally don’t use it at all anymore. And I installed it myself, no tools necessary (I can do scary things). Best thing is that since you’re renting, it can be removed easily and brought with you to your next house.
It could help to eat clean for at least two weeks. No meat, no dairy, no alcohol, no sugar. After some weeks I start to smell lot less and need less showers
After watching this video I was excited to look into the crystal deodorant. It does contain aluminum. So I will be continuing to look into other alternatives.
Yep! Coming soon! I did link my menstrual cup in the description of the video too if you're looking for one before I get a chance to get the video out 💛But I'll chat about all the goodies I use soon! x
The brush one gets me. At the place where I work we have “Ecobrushes” where the brushes are made of wood but all of the bristles and the cushion connected to the bristles are plastic
Pls dont use/make coffee scrubs!! It’s VERY bad for pipes and clogging the system. Google “why coffee scrubs are bad” and you will understand. Sugar/salt scrubs are a lot better coz both dissolve in water
Sugar and Salt crubs (and coffee) cause microtears on the skin, which can open the possibility of infection, as well. I think maybe oatmeal powder (just put oats in a blender) would be safer, but I think a brush and soap would be just fine. I hear chemical exfoliants are more effective anyway!
I use coffee scrub on my body. Wait 30m or so for it to dry then use a towel to wipe down the coffee ground to the floor, i’ll sweep it later. Then, i step into this big thing that look like a baby wash tub, i do not know what it’s called in English, don’t know if it even exists in Western countries. Then i use a big mug to slowly and carefully pour water on my body to wash any coffee left. The water in that wash tub which contains tiny coffee scrubs is use to water the plants in my garden later. Finally, i take a shower as usual. No coffee going to the pipes.
I've used coffee scrubs for years and although it's very bad for pipes it's pretty good for the skin. Sugar/salt scrubs never fully work for me. So yeah, just gotta be careful not to let it fall into the skin I guess
What I recommend for soaps is this old grandmas way of making it last longer. My grandmother always bought two soaps and would leave them to dry out for months before using always last longer. ;)
when i switched to bar soap i cut off the bottom of my newly empty liquid body wash bottle, made some holes in it for draining, and thats what my body bars have been using for about a year now. i was able to reuse something, avoid buying something new, and filled my need of having somewhere to put my bar of soap that would let it drain nicely so it wouldnt turn to mush (as you mentioned)

Fluoride Alternative: Nanohydroxyapatite based toothpaste, actually fills in tubules, cracks, whites without damaging tooth and supports enamal. Studies show it works better than fluoride without the toxicity or side effects.
If you have a green thumb it might be worth looking in to growing soapwort. Both the roots and the leaves, boiled in water, can be used to make a gentle liquid soap that can be on hair and skin. It can be mixed with an oil for scent, and it lathers! Conservators use it to clean delicate fabrics that modern synthetic soaps would otherwise damage.
they have toothpaste tabs you can buy in little glass jars with metal lids :) also your baking soda diy is really abrasive so it isnt good to use every day. i absolutely love your channel and im working on implementing as much zero waste stuff as i can into my life , thank you so much for the effort you put in to spreading this info :)
The deodorant stone you are talking about is what we call “Pierre d’Alun” in France, I brought some with me in the US and I use it sometimes. Mine was made by Thierry Mugler already years ago. It is a natural deodorant, however I was reading that it was containing some aluminum and the studies are not deep enough to know if it is dangerous or not. So, something to check and follow in the future... I don’t use it all the time, I bought some natural aluminum free deodorant and I’m very happy with it. I never buy antiperspirant because I think it goes against nature. But this is a very personal opinion.
I've kept following your videos for a while and they're motivating when you're part of the zero waste movement and it feels like you're doing this alone, thanks alot! I juste wanted to add that skipping fluoride is not something that should be encourage since it's the ONLY thing that protects your teeth to get cavities so the rest of the ingredients are present just to whiten your theet and get a nice breath. So no problem to avoid fluoride until you don't have any theet left. Fluoride is dangerous if you eat a lot (go for one with less than 50mg/100g) of it or on it's gas form. Because with things like this it would be easily turn around by "against zero waste/diy" when the results will eventually show.
Not the only thing, there are also toothpastes formulated around calcium hydroxyapatite as the re-mineralization promoting ingredient. Hydroxyapatite is what makes up like 97% of your enamel and 70-ish(?)% of your dentin (and also most of your bones), so in that sense it's as natural as it gets, but its most effective toothpaste forms are the micro and nano-sized particle ones, and I don't know if those can be made through sustainable processes so far (or if anyone's tried). Since it's already used in so many places in the body and also exists as an ingestible supplement, it's safe even for kids to swallow, unlike fluoride.
I use an epilator for hair removal over shaving now. Its zero waste. No replacing anything until the machine dies which should be many years. Its painful at first but you get used to it and your hair doesnt grow back as quickly. So bonus..
I bought the bar none after i heard you mention it on your channel. i was speechless!!! it's just as good, maybe even better than my liquid vegan, SLS paraben etc. free conditioner. i'm going to try your shampoo bar as well. maybe also toothpaste, because i've never found a zero waste one that works for me.
AH! That makes me SO happy to hear that I made your conditioner search easier!! That's what I'm aiming for definitely! And it was such a wonderful find for my life, I couldn't not share! 💛💛💛 Sending ya so much luv! x
agreed! i tried bar none after i ran out of my conditioner, and it works so damn well! i was very skeptical of using a bar conditioner bc my hair is curly and very finicky with what i use. it works insanely well, and i bought 3 more bars!
Quick tip for brushing your teeth with charcoal base toothpaste brush your teeth before you start your shower in the tub then once your done set your toothbrush outside and shower the shower does all the cleaning of the black residue
Something to note for all the ladies that might be interested in getting a safety razor: Pretty much all of the safety razors specifically marketed to women are rebranded private label manufactured razors, so chances are you can find the exact same razor for a lot cheaper if you're okay with it not having pastel coloured paint on it. (Look at Weishi, Baili, DS Cosmetics etc.) Most razors are also cast from Zamak (zinc-copper alloy) that has been chrome plated. It's a decent material and will last long if you look after it, but it can fracture or chip if dropped or knocked, since cast metals are brittle like glass. The most common breakage you'll see is the top cap's threaded post shearing clean off/having it stay behind in the handle's threads after being dropped from standing height or mishandled during shipping. Due to being cast, they can't be repaired in any way. You could replate a razor after having lost its chrome, though. In my opinion, the most underrated (and mostly unknown to women wanting to get into using a safety razor) product range out there would be Razorock's line of 100% stainless steel safety razors. (Sold on their ItalianBarber website) They cost only slightly more (around $60 to $70) than most of the razors made of Zamak and they have none of their weaknesses. Definitely the best value for money in the wet shaving market. If you already have a razor, don't sweat it, but if you're still looking to buy one, be sure to check them out. You'd like their "super knurl" handle. West Coast Shaving also sells a razor made specifically for women, with a silicone-covered extra-long handle and a set-angle razor head. Also, one piece of advice: Wet shave. Canned foam is "dry" and filled with air that makes the experience uneven and its application doesn't prep your hair. Get some sort of brush and a shaving soap that actually lathers well. If you want vegan, PAA's CK6 formula is explosive and synthetic/horse hair brushes don't involve utilizing something from dead animals.
You can use a travel bidet. It's a handheld device you fill with water as you need it. I use it on vacation when I'm not at home. No installation needed :)
We call that crystal (natural deodorant) "TAWAS" in the Philippines, it is really effective and it does not cause darkening of underarms. I think it's called Potassium Alum. Try it!
You can absolutely install a bidet in an apartment and remove it just as easily when it's time to move out! :) I move frequently and have had no issues.
I absolutely love the lush (purple) shampoo bar, and I like their (big) conditioner bar enough to use it but I’m not sure I’ll buy that particular one again.
Living in a remote community in northern Alberta, Canada, I'm having such a hard time finding healthy, low-waste substitutions for the hair, body and skincare. My options are grocery stores and Walmart. We don't even have a proper bulk store! So I find that when I do need to replace an item and want to choose a more sustainable or low-waste item, I have to order it online. Some companies are really conscious of their packaging (e.g. Unwrapped Life and NoPong, two Canadian companies that ship without plastic), but most companies just throw my small order in a giant box and fill the box up with bubble wrap. I'm starting to make my own skincare products but even then, I have to order the ingredients online and have them shipped because they're not available locally, so I don't even know if the carbon footprint is smaller than just buying conventional products at the supermarket. It's one of the most frustrating parts of living in a remote northern community (that, and the -40C for weeks at a time in the winter!). I do credit your videos and your podcasts for inspiring me to make meaningful changes where I can :).
I think it also depends how and how fast your orders are shipped. Normal supermarket stuff usually comes by ship, while fast online purchases fly. Flying of course is multiple times worse than ship shipping or plastic.
My mom crocheted me a soap bag to use in the shower with my bars of soap. It’s made with natural bamboo wool and can be composted when I choose to let it go. Because of the antimicrobial properties of bamboo, and because bamboo wool doesn’t felt, I can actually put it in the wash if needed. I love that it has just the right texture to exfoliate my dry but sensitive skin. Have you looked into toilet paper without rolls? Do you use synthetic bristles in your toothbrush? (I know they offer nylon, plant and animal based depending on the company)
Also, a method I use as a bidet are the portable bidet squirt bottles. You just fill it w/warm water and you squeeze it lol. They’re advertised to pregnant women, but really it’s really great and does the job well. There are some on amazon.
There's a bidet attachment that just goes right onto the toilet and can be taken off once you move to the new one place. And they don't do damage. It's pretty much like installing a different shower head.
I read somewhere that using coconut or palm oils can clog your drains and dull your razors; maybe it only happens when you use it raw and not in a soap, I'm not entirely sure but I'd love for you to look into that! Love your videos!
I use the crystal ‘deodorant’ and it’s amazing. It’s great because you put it on after showering and you are good till the next time you take a shower. It’s also great because it lasts forever and doesn’t cost much. It doesn’t clog your pores and actually lets you sweat (unlike deodorants) but without smell. I recommend!
I saw a tushy that is an installable and removeable bidet!! I’m not sure if the company is sustainable or a good company to support but it is a great alternative when you don’t own a home yet!
Really helpful video! I've heard from many people that fluoride is no good for you. It accumulates in the pineal gland (studies have shown this) and interferes with the production of some hormones, since the pineal gland, like all glands, is responsible for the production of some hormones. I'm also not a medical doctor so I'm not well versed on the subject and I don't know exactly which specific hormones are produced by the pineal gland but it's something to keep in mind. My personal experience was that I used fluoride toothpaste all my life brushing 3 times a day and I always got cavities like crazy. I was brushing my teeth all the time, the dentist even told me I brushed too often because I had lots of tooth wear just from brushing. But I had to brush so much because no matter what I did I just kept getting lots of cavities and bigger and bigger ones. One day I read about brushing with soap (all natural, handmade olive oil soap, not the commercial store-bought kind). I did that and I didn't get any more cavities! I went for a check-up expecting the usual 30 fillings budget and the dentist (a new dentist) was surprised I kept asking him if I had cavities, he said I didn't have any and did I want any haha? Soap tastes really foul but it really worked. I don't know if it's toxic but I don't swallow it and I rinse very very very well. I used to make my own olive oil soap but I got too busy so I buy Marseille soap it's pure olive oil soap that is the kind of soap you should use for brushing teeth.
I have yet to find a conditioner bar to suit me, but I have found that the several bars I have tried are brilliant for shaving my legs. They leave your skin really well moisturised, and it means I can try out new conditioner bars, without having to worry about them being wasted if they don't suit my hair. Xx
On the deodorants thing, I have hyperhidrosis and use salt deodorants. They aren't antiperspirants of course -- a common and fair misconception -- but if you use them properly (as you said, on clean and damp skin, and they must be used very regularly and frequently) they can be really good for odour prevention. Like I sweat abnormal amounts but when I'm using my salt deos consistently, nothing. Absolutely nothing. I use a rock (you can also use it as a styptic so that's neato), and a spray which I make myself with potassium alum powder, magnesium salts, bit of bicarb if I'm feeling feisty, water, and phenoxyethanol or benzyl alcohol as a preservative depending on what I have to hand.
I've been using ACV for a few years but just this month delved into shampoo bars since my favorite bottle shampoo is almost empty. I got a 15 sample pack from Apple Valley Soap and I am still in the "transition phase" so cant tell if I like any of them yet (but seriously love them as soap). Love my safety razor, it was one of the most "duh" transitions when I had to get new heads for my Venus, I don't really understand why some people are scared to use one lol. I chose the bathroom as the easiest place for me to transition to low/zero waste since I still live at home and I am almost completely transitioned. It is so great having plastic free and reusable products that actually ended up costing less than their counterparts. (I do have a very simple hygiene and makeup routine anyway so that helped).
I'd like to put in really fast that while coffee grounds CAN be exfoliating in the shower, if it gets stuck in the pipes somehow it CAN congeal into a mess that can stuff the pipes. just be careful with your coffee scrubs
A good natural deodorant is actually aromaco from lush! It’s had vinegar which helps tighten pores and also had witch hazel with is a very good anti bacterial. It’s the one I could find that has the same effect as a standard anti-sweat
I am the same with deodorant. I didnt sweat or smell much but after having kids i sweat more than i used to but still not overly smelly. I recently invested in no pong deoderant. Which has been nice but still i only use it when its above 40 degrees Celsius.
There are beday(sp?) systems that you can attach to a toilet and use the tank water for the squirting. I don’t think there is any heavy plumbing required. My parents got one from amazon - so that’s an option but it it isn’t a sustainable product in itself (packaging and materials and whatnot)
Someone has probably mentioned this already but Denttabs now do ones WITH FLUORIDE which made my actual year when I saw them the other day. My local refill stall in the nearest city (which I'm lucky to have, but they're available online as well in both the UK and the US) does them and I'm literally going right after class to get some!
I had an exfoliating mitt I bought from Dollar Tree that lasted for years!!! I just put it in the washing machine. I recently replaced it with one from eco tools like the one you featured. Happy zero'ing!
You should look into bamboo bath tissue, it is an awesome sustainable option for those needs and is better for the environment after use, because it breaks down unlike generic toilet paper! Grove Collaborative will plant a tree every time you purchase their bamboo products, just something that may interest you!
I have been trying to figure out what to do when my bottles of conditioner run out (because I use those to shave with) didn't know shaving bars were a thing I'm so glad they are!!! great vid!
as a curly girl i really didn’t want to have to buy a bunch of conditioner bars that didn’t work for me and have to waste them, so i tried seed phytonutrients (a sister company of loreal) that is packaged in cardboard with a super super thin layer of plastic to hold the conditioner (and it compresses as you use it so you pretty much can use every single drop of product) and the plastic pump can be recycled with TerraCycle
I use nuud deodorant and it's honestly life changing i used to smell really bad and nothing, especially nothing natural, would work - but with nuud I can go for multiple days without smelling, even when I'm doing sports and stuff utterly amazing
idk if you do but you should definitely install a bidet in your toilet. that way you’ll use less toilet paper (only use paper to wipe up the water used, rather than removing your body waste)
Thanks so much for the suggestions. I bought the conditioner bar and it works really well for my hair so far. I also ordered the razor because I have been using the same one for so long because i didn't want to buy more plastic disposables. The razor should come in this week, thanks so much for the recommendations.
Some people use a squeeze bottle with water instead of installing a bidet so that could be an option. I love how many brands you use and how researched they all are! ❤️ You really got me into the zero waste thing.
I also sweat a lot so I feel ya haha! 💛I don't know exactly why but the fact that I never started killing off my bacteria balance is my theory as to why I don't smell. Either that or I just got genetically lucky somehow! But I 10000000% am the minority being in the no-deo camp haha. Sometimes it makes me feel left out when other people are talking about what they use, oddly haha! 🙈
Bidets seats are usually very easy to install. I had one as a renter and uninstalled it and brought it to my new place. Only catch is there are two sizes of toilets and my current home has a different size, so I have a second four hundred dollar toilet seat sitting in my garage now because I can’t bring myself to craigslist it... it’s totally fine but Americans seem weirded out by the things in the first place.
Hello Christi and everyone! Thank you for the useful, eco-friendly tips! I am in no way trying to be disrespectful, but just because I care, I would like to share some thoughts on flouride. I just wanted to share that flouride has actually been found to cause discolored patches in teeth and not help our teeth in the ways that was/has been originally believed. It also has been linked to calcifying the pineal gland, which is important. I really don't mean any harm, I just wanted to share with those who would read and possibly consider just looking further into it to make sure that they have all the information they want/need to know :-) I respect the personal decision to use flouride, I just thought that maybe someone may be inteterested. I only want to help! Much love to everyone and our beautiful planet!
Thank you for your kind words! I definitely think it's a hot topic and everyone has the right to decide what they'd like to do for themselves, that's why I mentioned it 💛I really just drink tap water though haha so I can't say I do much but I also don't avoid it. But I'm also not a doc/dentist so I can't really say or give advice on it. But I think it's something everyone has a right to choosing and educating themselves on! I just didn't want a bunch of angry comments on the other side if I didn't mention that there wasn't flouride in it, but probably made it worse/more apparent by mentioning it from the looks of these comments haha. Ooops, ya live and you learn. Sending ya luv 💛
@@SedonaChristina Thank you for your kind and understanding response as well! I hope I didn't come off wrong to anyone, I just wanted to share with those who are interested. I tried not to seem like I was giving direct factual information, only suggestions for people to possibly look into studies on the topic. It is a hot topic of it's own, but to each is to own and I believe we all mean well :-) Love your advice and channel, girl! You inspire me and others, so thank ya! Always sending love!
I'm so happy I started watching your joy filled videos and subscribed. I'm on my way to a more environmentally friendly, closer to a zero waste lifestyle and am very please with the hair tips for what to get for curly hair, they are amazing (and the grapefruit seed extract works wonders for the flax seed gel 😉) Keep up the great work you are doing.
Have you heard of the Tushy bidet? It’s the same creator as Thinx period underwear. I think it’s under 100$ and you can install it very quickly and remove it whenever you want. It looks revolutionary honestly!!!
i don't wear deodorant either! maybe like 1-2 times a month haha. if i feel like i need a quick refresh i will use wipes, and then use lavender essential oil.
i can confirm with the antiperspirants. I switched to a natural deodorant scented with essential oils. I still sweated, but I did not smell. Now I don't really use any unless I know I will be sweating.
I'm trying to move to a zero waste way of living, and I'm so thankful for all of your recommendations and where to get them because I also live in Seattle!!
I bought a crystal deodorant a yr or two ago and it completely burned my armpits. It was terrible. I don't know if it was a bad allergic reaction to it or what but... They were raw and bright red for about 3 days after stopping. So just be aware if you have sensitive skin like I do.
Today I just started looking at zero waste videos and I’ve been watching a lot of yours and I think I might start a low-waste journey soon! I don’t have much accessibility to it right now as I’m not over 18, but that is for the inspiration!
im surprised and interested with your promotion of using fluoride?! bite makes really great toothy tabs...i frankly like the ones from lush a little better (texture wise), but lush's comes in a plastic bottle (that then you can return to lush, so its a little better?), but bite comes in adorable apothecary completely glass jars with a metal lid, so definitely the more sustainable option!
I don’t use deodorant! I do use charcoal soap when I shave and think that helps.. And a lavender magnesium spray if I feel like I need something something. I’ve heard you can detox your pits to wean off deodorant, too..
If anyone wants a deodorant tip: I love Salt of the Earth plastic free crystal deodorant, I bought it assuming it wouldn't work well but I've been using it for a week now in the heat of the summer and it works so well!
The one thing I haven’t quite found my way around considering sustainability is like my hair products outside of shampoo/conditioner like leave-in, creams, and gels! Especially my hair gel... so much going into curly hair that I don’t wanna compromise my happy hair :(
Im actually looking into creating my own shampoo/conditioner, body wash, deodorant, and toothpaste 😊 i used eggs friday night and it made my hair feel amazing, but you're only supposed to do that once a month, so id like to try aloe and honey
Thank you for this recommendation!!
at first i was like what ?? than i remembered i’ve heard of the brand before 😭
they come wrapped separately with paper, but i’ve found you can use the wrapping for a paper towel, or even as gift wrap (sound weird but the wrapping is really pretty)
wow how am i just hearing about this? just checked the site and they ship to canada
SO interesting! x
wait same imma deep dive on this shit
Stefanie D maybe is just your diet ..
That's so amazing, I wish I didn't smell without deodrant :(
I didn't even used to that bad, but it's gotten really bad recently and I don't know why
Pro tip: put ur bars of soap on sponges cuz then all the soap that comes off just goes into the sponge and u can use that later
Nice and thank u. I'm going to do that with my Dr.Squatch soap and loofa sponge.
Thank you on the fluoride comment! It bugs me when people act like it's bad for your teeth for some reason.
Gosh, at my parents' house, the bathroom water thermostate broke, so now there's only cold water coming from the bidet and sink... That's not my favourite thing.
@@raapyna8544 hahaha! Sending ya good energies to make it through! It'll be over before ya know it 💛🤣
I totally agree with fluoride thing.
Cheers & much luv x
Deadly for dogs... There You go 🌐
Came to this comments for this! Thank you!
@@kimgordon3695 tomatoe, garlic and onions are also toxic/ deadly for dogs... 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️

I'm very jealous that you don't need to use deodorant! And i have a bidet attachment and it's amazing!
Vibing Vegan me too!! I will be trying the crystal deo she recommends once I am out of the stuff I have.
Natural Armpit detox with ACV! My life is changed lol
Vibing Vegan I use my Young Living Lavender or Cypress with a roll-on top as a deodorant.
Do you think you could do a video on your tips on zero waste period products??
Two words: menstrual cup
Diva Cup!
Cotton pads are also perfect if you dont like cups!
She put a note on the video at the end that she’s doing a skincare and menstrual video soon!
Thank you for the info!
Totally agree! Also don’t throw ground used coffee in the sink to wash off with water. I’m using rye flour as a scrub
I've used coffee scrubs for years and although it's very bad for pipes it's pretty good for the skin. Sugar/salt scrubs never fully work for me. So yeah, just gotta be careful not to let it fall into the skin I guess
Omg your menstrual cup comes in such a perfect little case! The diva cup takes up so much space lol
To clean myself "down there" (on the toilet) I fill an old shampoo bottle with warm water - then I use a small towel.
What I recommend for soaps is this old grandmas way of making it last longer. My grandmother always bought two soaps and would leave them to dry out for months before using always last longer. ;)
Also you can get a bidet to install that is easily connected and disconnected so good for rentals
I personally know the owners of brush with bamboo! Glad you’re using their products!!!
You can buy detachable bidets but I’m not sure if they are made of plastic. Also there are portable hand held bidets.
when i switched to bar soap i cut off the bottom of my newly empty liquid body wash bottle, made some holes in it for draining, and thats what my body bars have been using for about a year now. i was able to reuse something, avoid buying something new, and filled my need of having somewhere to put my bar of soap that would let it drain nicely so it wouldnt turn to mush (as you mentioned)
I only found your channel yesterday and girl I’m obsessed 😍 your beauty and positive energy is everything

You could use a Tabo which is just a bucket of water and a cup to clean after using the loo x
Wow, I am so appreciative of how you explain every product. You are full of great knowledge!

(Look at Weishi, Baili, DS Cosmetics etc.)
Most razors are also cast from Zamak (zinc-copper alloy) that has been chrome plated.
Here in the Philippines we are very eco friendly we use a "tabo" or a water dipper to wash our bums with
You can use a travel bidet.
Any suggestions for a cheap moisturiser bar for sensitive skin at all?
I absolutely love the lush (purple) shampoo bar, and I like their (big) conditioner bar enough to use it but I’m not sure I’ll buy that particular one again.
I'm getting low on my shampoo soon and I can't wait to get the JR Liggets tea tree hemp bar to try out when I finish it!
I just installed a bidet sprayer in my apartment! It’s pretty easy and I can take it with me when I move.
There is also a bidet squirt bottle, so you can put warm water in it.
Baking soda and cornstarch saves the sweating and funk without blocking the pores.I get blois from antiperspirant and deodorant.
Where did you get yours from??
For a “bidet” I use a natural sponge, a metal bowl with warm water and soap and to dry off just a face cloth :)
FYI fluoride is a neurotoxin, so it's better that u don't have it in your toothpaste.
Patisserie de bain cherry body mist and salt rock my faves
Shea moistures coconut and rooibus shampoo bar is the only bar I’ve found actually cleans my hair.
Someone has probably mentioned this already but Denttabs now do ones WITH FLUORIDE which made my actual year when I saw them the other day. My local refill stall in the nearest city (which I'm lucky to have, but they're available online as well in both the UK and the US) does them and I'm literally going right after class to get some!
ooh and another suggestion: repurpose coffee grounds you've already used to make coffee when you do your scrubs!
I have been trying to figure out what to do when my bottles of conditioner run out (because I use those to shave with) didn't know shaving bars were a thing I'm so glad they are!!! great vid!

Ah! What a coincidence haha! Hope it was helpful 💛
as a curly girl i really didn’t want to have to buy a bunch of conditioner bars that didn’t work for me and have to waste them, so i tried seed phytonutrients (a sister company of loreal) that is packaged in cardboard with a super super thin layer of plastic to hold the conditioner (and it compresses as you use it so you pretty much can use every single drop of product) and the plastic pump can be recycled with TerraCycle
You could use the glycerine soap as pre shave before using the shave soap. It will prep you skin by softening it.
I use nuud deodorant and it's honestly life changing
i used to smell really bad and nothing, especially nothing natural, would work - but with nuud I can go for multiple days without smelling, even when I'm doing sports and stuff
utterly amazing
idk if you do but you should definitely install a bidet in your toilet. that way you’ll use less toilet paper (only use paper to wipe up the water used, rather than removing your body waste)
The tushy bidet is renter friendly it can come off after you move
For saving i use coconut oil it workz amazing for me
Thanks so much for the suggestions.
Sadly I sweat ALOT so I'd never go into public without deodorant especially if I've went more than 1 day without a shower !
I'm on my way to a more environmentally friendly, closer to a zero waste lifestyle and am very please with the hair tips for what to get for curly hair, they are amazing (and the grapefruit seed extract works wonders for the flax seed gel 😉)
Keep up the great work you are doing.
Have you heard of the Tushy bidet? It’s the same creator as Thinx period underwear. I think it’s under 100$ and you can install it very quickly and remove it whenever you want. It looks revolutionary honestly!!!
ahhh thank you for sharing!!!!
Hope some of these little bits were even half as helpful as your videos have been for me. Sending ya so much luv today and everyday angel 💛
i don't wear deodorant either! maybe like 1-2 times a month haha. if i feel like i need a quick refresh i will use wipes, and then use lavender essential oil.
i can confirm with the antiperspirants. I switched to a natural deodorant scented with essential oils. I still sweated, but I did not smell. Now I don't really use any unless I know I will be sweating.
What would you recommend for floss?
I'm trying to move to a zero waste way of living, and I'm so thankful for all of your recommendations and where to get them because I also live in Seattle!!
My dad lives in Seattle! He goes to the Ballard farmers market too! Maybe I will see you in the summer when I visit!!
This was super helpful!! I just purchased some toothpaste tabs from bite and I’m waiting for those to come in so I’m excited!!
As for the bidet thing, check out MJ Gordon's channel. She has a video about her family not using toilet paper.
im surprised and interested with your promotion of using fluoride?! bite makes really great toothy tabs...i frankly like the ones from lush a little better (texture wise), but lush's comes in a plastic bottle (that then you can return to lush, so its a little better?), but bite comes in adorable apothecary completely glass jars with a metal lid, so definitely the more sustainable option!
What about household/cleaning? That would be a fab vid
i second this
The one thing I haven’t quite found my way around considering sustainability is like my hair products outside of shampoo/conditioner like leave-in, creams, and gels!
