  • Susan (Zsuzsi) Bleier passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and loved ones one month short of her 90th birthday. Though small in stature, she was a spark plug with a sharp tongue who never sugarcoated the truth. She was also full of laughs and smiles, and radiated loving kindness to those she cared for. This love was born from hardship: as a child in Hungary, Susan survived the Holocaust while much of her family perished, including her father. She later immigrated to Israel, then America, in search of a better life. She spent her career as a nurse, including Bethesda Hospital and as head nurse at Evanston's Presbyterian Home. Susan was wife to the late Andrew (Bandi) Bleier and is survived by her two sons, Daniel (Caroline Glasser) and Michael (Emily Tower), her six grandchildren, Elie (Hanna), Anna (Jesse), Ben, Rebecca, Isabella & Sophia, one great grandchild (Ziggy) with two more on the way, her longtime caring partner, Barry Schimmel and her devoted dog, Mushy. Private graveside service and shiva. All donations to Yad V'hashem, Har Hazikaron, P.O.B. 3477, Jerusalem 9103401 Israel www.yadvashem.org are appreciated. Arrangements by Chicago Jewish Funerals - Skokie Chapel, 847.229.8822, www.cjfinfo.com
