Great interview. Much respect to Teddy and Cornette. I used to watch these guys in the 80s.And I'm 45 and I know about ALL of the music y'all spoke on. I'm an old soil I guess.
Never a dull moment or boring segment with Teddy Long. Always as some of the best interviews/shoots. And of course Cornette is always gold when he talks
Teddy long is king. A very smart and humble gentleman ! He made smackdown the A show in 2005 and a joy to watch. Everything he does is pure gold. Much respect to him.
At a show in Spokane, WA like a decade ago and I hear "what up playa" and mothafuckin Teddy Long is just chillin on the floor level talking to me!!! I lost my mind he was chill like "having fun?" I was.
2:35, Buddy Landel vs. Pat Tanaka; Buddy Landel could have worked with NWA/WCW till it closed. Landel could have major$ , he was solid worker when he was serious!

Teddy Long was a LONG TIME mgr., and had a repatation for talent. Vince Knew Teddy Long was a Manager and if he didn't, (Yeah Right) Jim Ross Knew. They always tried Black personalities constantly than they would white personalities. Case in point Percy Pringle was a Manager down in Texas WCCW, when he arrived in then WWF he was again a Manager, this time Peanut Head's former Skyscrapper Mean Mark Calius aka The Undertaker...
It's funny how everyone that interviews Teddy Long ask's him about how Ric Flair treated him and hurled racial slurs at him... all except for Jim Cornette. Hmm...I see a pattern here.
+SolidMike84, nawh bruh it's not like that at all. When Teddy started talking about Ric Flair's foolishness twice Cornette swept it under the rug. He knows exactly what he's doing.
What exactly is he gonna get out of asking Teddy about it all again? The same answer as before. Teddy doesn't even know exactly what Rics overall problem with him was & assumes, for good reason, that he's a racist. I'd be more interested to hear someone ask Flair upfront what the deal was, not that he's gonna answer truthfully anyway.
+SolidMike84, it's obvious what Ric's problem was with Teddy and it's the same problem with any talented innovative Black wrestler and that is they are a threat and must be eliminated out of the wrestling business unless they wrestle in Japan. New Jack, Elijah Burke, MVP, Bad News Brown, 2 Cold Scorpio, Big Cat Ernie Ladd, Thunderbolt Patterson, Bearcat Wright, Michael Tarver, and Iceman King Parsons just to name a few were all innovators and big time threats. Some "kind of" made it while others did not. Teddy Long was unique because he was an innovative manager and that was not seen before and "Bitch" Flair knew this! But I do agree with one of your points, "somebody needs to ask "Bitch" Flair what his problem was with Teddy Long because I would love to know the reason why. By the way 2 Cold Scorpio and Stevie Ray (from Harlem Heat) both "HATE" "Bitch" Flair and has spoke in length in shoot interviews about how rotten he was so Scott Steiner wasn't the only former WCW wrestler who had major problems with him and his backstage politics.
Now, I know Cornette has some stupid and even ghastly, horribly wicked sorts of aberrant, self-contradictory thought that he lives by, but does he really not understand that the reason MTV didn't originally play black artists is EXACTLY the reason that the WWF/E has just about never had a black champion, that being that most of the people in the country have not wanted it and that they are companies which are in existence to make money? BTW, this isn't a matter of racism on the part of the audience either, because The Rock is tremendously more of a minority than blacks, and would be even if he were only Samoan as opposed to half Samoan and half black. The Rock didn't go out there with a racist, separatist attitude that he was fighting white people to succeed, and doing it for the sake of any race, and he accomplished that EVEN AFTER BEING A PROMINENT MEMBER OF THE NATION OF DOMINATION, BECAUSE IT WAS CLEAR THAT WAS KAYFABE AND NOT HIS PERSONALITY!!
I am totally impressed with Jim cornette's musical tastes. Great job corny.
"Google it, you young fucks!" Good Christ, it just never gets old.
This was fantastic

@Citizen Beeswax If you didn't respond I would've never seen that i misspelled "soul". I meant to say old soul not "soil". Thanks Beeswax.
awesome interview. i couldn't stand teddy long as an 8/9 year old kid watching wcw...so now i know he was doing his job well. to WCW legends. Thanks!
I'm not a fan of the WWE but I'd go to the meet & greet so I can meet these two.
I feel bad I never appreciated Teddy Long when I was watching him live long before he was in the WWE.
Never a dull moment or boring segment with Teddy Long. Always as some of the best interviews/shoots. And of course Cornette is always gold when he talks

If everyone has asked the question then why would Jim wanna repeat the question & repeat the answer?
