I am an insulin dependent veteran and get my meds through the VA. Two of my meds are in shortage and often are unable to be filled with no available substitutes and my insulin costs have not changed in the past 3 years. President Biden and his pals are bleeding me dry.
I am a vet, too. I call bs on the idea that Biden is bleeding you dry. What is your cost for insulin? The Biden administration was responsible for lowering the cost of insulin to no more than $35 a month for Medicare recipients. The drug industry has been significantly reducing insulin costs for all under Biden’s push. As far as your concerned as a veteran with medical care from the VA, I know that the annual medication co-pay cap is $700. If you are paying more than that, I would suggest you call the VA and find out why? But $700 probably sounds pretty good to the average American who is on insulin. I look forward to hearing from you.
Not sure if my original reply to you was posted so I will re-post with a shorter comment. As a veteran under the VA medical care system, your annual co-pay cap should be $700. That cap has been in effect since at least 2017 so if your medication bills have been over $700 each year then of course your cap kicks in and you would have been paying the same $700 max each year. I think most Americans on insulin medications would love to only pay $700 per year. It is a fact that the Biden administration has been able to lower insulin costs to $35 per month for anyone on Medicare. And under Biden’s urging, most of the major insulin manufacturers are now lowering the cost to all Americans. I my opinion, the country has been in much better shape under the Affordable Care Act, especially as tweaks have been made, than ever before. Of course, the Republican Congress has been doing its best to get rid of the ACA but without a replacement plan.

Rent/home payment is up, going out to eat is way high, driving your car is expensive, and going to the grocery store is a killer. My family paid everything off before this mess hit, so we are better off than most. We had our 49th Anniversary this month, but the best we could do to celebrate was going out for a cheap meal. We don't do much more than stay home, but stretching our budget just won't allow more.
My daughter is a diabetic. Her insulin is 736 a month. It only went down for one kind of insulin and it's a very very ineffective type of insulin so really even that is insulting
My pharmacy wanted 1700 for 1 bottle of pills, I asked who can afford this? She replied

In maryland food is higher than 20% more, try more like 40 to 45 percent more. And has gone up more than $300. month more. My payck does not even cover my monthly rent. I have to get a 3rd job and am 66 yrs old next month. Sad times we arw living in😢😢😢😢

Exactly! Both insulins I take (plus the ones my doctor suggested to replace them) are no longer covered. I am hoping the latest plan that starts next month won't decide to drop insulin (or other meds dropped that I take). The price I was given to pay for it myself would mean having to give up rent or groceries.

Then Biden changed the inflation algorithm by removing food and fuel and other things. It still went up. He cheats and then inflation still rises. He sells laws and budget money to foreigners and war, and the inflation rises more. Biden at one time had it at 9.1%, that's when they decided to remove categories from the inflation equation. Insanity. If you put food back into it, the inflation number would be so high, that it would start effecting the markets and stock markets. That's why they cheated to keep the number down, so we could throttle and halt those financial-bots from going crazy. It would have caused loaners/banks/brokers to ask debtors for their cash, and might start a cascading effect which would bankrupt the USA and world markets. Richard failed to mention that Trump had already capped the price of insulin at $35 back on May 26, 2020. When Biden won, he reversed the policy, and the prices went right back up. It wasn't until later that he enacted this current policy.
