The Angel I Once Loved - [From Scratch, Cubase Pro 11] (No commentary)

- Hello guys !
For those of you who might have 6 hours to waste, I recorded myself while working on the orchestral arrangement of "The Angel I Once Loved (remake 2021)". This is probably not gonna be the most interesting video ever, it is really raw and un-edited (for the sake of transparency), but for those of you who wanna have a glimpse of how I work, you can just scroll through the video.

Just mentioning that I did a lot of mixing/balancing/mastering off camera because that's really boring to watch, so you can easily add 1h30 of work to it. That's why you might see things changing without me showing it (instruments swaps/melodies/volumes etc...).
An other very important thing to mention is that, not all of my songs take 8-ish hours to do, this one was a remake and I pretty much sticked to the original with the structure and parts, that's why everything was very straight forward. But when I'm doing an original composition, it takes a lot more time obviously because I have to find ideas/melodies/transitions/experimenting new things, sometimes erasing whole parts because I think they won't fit etc... so it can easily reach 20-30 hours of work for an original.

Je regarderai pas les 6 heures mais juste par curiosité je trouve intéressant de voir comment tu composes (personnellement j'en avais aucune idée), et puis ça montre un peu le volume de travail 😅
Petite question au passage, tu as eu des cours de solfège ou une formation particulière ou tu as appris à composer sur le tas ?

Ce qui est impressionnant, c'est le template utilisé, déjà calé pour tes compositions symphoniques. Et j'adore l'utilisation du staccato pour les instruments à cordes !

Le template s'est crée avec le temps tout simplement, à force d'ajouter des pistes sur mes projets. Comme ça à chaque fois que je veux commencer quelque chose, j'ai qu'à ouvrir ce projet vide avec toutes les pistes déjà programmées et je peux directement commencer a écrire.

Hey Peter. I always asked me how you compose your music in Cubase. I thought you'd use a midi keyboard, but you use only your mouse to write your music or do you use a midi keyboard for composing music? 👍

Serais-tu me renseigner sur la façon dont tu t'es procuré tes sons ?
Je connais qque plugins/VST comme nucleus ou jaeger de nom mais je ne me suis jamais réellement lancé sur des sons de ''synthèse''. Parceque me procurer un violon une contrebasse, horn..Okay mais l'ensemble des instruments en prenant comptes des chœurs etc c'est pas la solution la plus simple qui me vient à l'esprit pour le coup 😂. Même après toutes mes années d'enregistrement et de composition.

Les librairies que j'utilise je les ai achetés sur internet, parmi les grandes marques tu as :
- East Weast Quantum Leap
- Audio Imperia
- 8Dio
- Musical Sampling
- Impact Soundwork
- Native Instrument
- Strezov Sampling, et j'en passe ...
Déjà si tu regardes sur les sites de ces marques y'a de grandes chances pour que tu trouves tout ce qui t'intéresses.
Aussi les gens me demandent comment je peux acheter autant de librairies, je précise que je ne les crack pas, c'est contre mes principes, j'essaie de les acheter quand elles sont en promotion. J'ai acheté ma 1ere librairie il y a 10 ans, donc j'ai eu le temps de me constituer une bonne liste sans trop me ruiner petit à petit.
Mais pour avoir des sons de qualité faut savoir que ce sera pas donné.

Ca va pas mal m'aider dans mes recherches. Moi qui suis souvent déçu des sons VST, j'ai vraiment été étonné par la qualité des sons que tu utilisais ! Sans parler du talent en composition et tt le reste 😜 !
