That’s so hard- we also think about how we get to pay for schools and then have to pay for our homeschooling too. I think I ageee with the idea of the subscription library. I’d have to pay to use one right now because we don’t have one, and if everyone had to pay maybe it would be cheaper! We’d have to pay $100
Yeah if the cost was spread throughout the community, I'd assume it would be very affordable for most people. But honestly, it would also encourage more church libraries, little free libraries, etc.
I remember books on record!! Loved those when I was a kid.
Record - that's even older than tape. Although yes, I remember those, too. We're just old, friend, that's what it is. 😆
My library has also done away with fines and it has been SO nice. I stopped physically checking out anything for a while because i kept forgetting to return things on time.
YES!!!! It got a little ridiculous for a while. 😆

I definitely felt that way about taxes funding public schools when we were homeschooling. Now my husband is old enough that we get a homestead exemption so we don't pay school tax any more.
I have mixed feelings abt the taxes going to fund the library for sure tho.
Oh that's nice that you don't have to pay school taxes anymore. Around here that's 75% of our taxes right there.

One hundred percent true! Honestly, I would be happy if the only thing my tax dollars went to were the roads and public area upkeep, and the military. Otherwise, can I just pretty please keep my own money and spend it the way I want?!?!

Agreed! I guess it's as much of an inventory management issue as it is money-raising. But now my library charges a replacement fee if you keep the book too long. So I guess it's still a fine, but at that point, you don't have to bring the book back, you've basically bought it from the library lol. Thankfully, that's never happened to me.

Our local library has done away with fines now. That is nice. But I do understand your opinion on tax funded libraries.
Yes, I like it when they get rid of fines. I feel like our county currently has a very sensible system for managing book return that's a good balance of flexibility while ensuring the safekeeping of their collection.

I am indeed old, there is no question on that score. 😆 I'm reminded of it daily in many ways lol. Glad my rant was not offensive! Sometimes these days it's offensive just to have a different opinion. 🤷♀️

I've made so many lately I don't know which one it is but I have a bit of an unpopular opinion in that video on men and women. The world has scared us from having our own opinions on things and I won't be rude about them but I'm also not going to be afraid to say what I believe. It's the old... it's ok to have an opinion as long as it's the same as mine. LOL Oh well... hopefully what I say in that video doesn't offend you as well. 🤣
