Bro thank you so much. I was seriously bummed out when i couldn't play anymore all of a sudden. All the old fixes did not help. Decided to go on a whim and look for help again and saw you just upload this and it actually fixed it!
Dude, my most sincere thanks for making this video available, I finally have my RS 2014 Remastered back. All of the Reddit fixes would get me close but no cigar and no one cared to tell me what I was doing wrong. You're definitely good people brother.

I haven't played guitar in over a year due to health issues. I spent too many hours over the last few days working on getting Rocksmith to play like it used to. This saved the day. I now have all my old data, plus the all the dlc's and cdlc's. A million thank you's!
Real nice of Ubi to do this now to an 8 year old game coincidentally when they launch their new subscription based service. Thankfully I saw this vid in time and won't let it update. I'll also most likely be taking a pass on their new game for a while because the song selection is apparently awful and mostly overinflated numbers.
Actually dumb moment for me... you HAVE to update in order to play the game on steam (unless you are playing offline I think but I forgot about that). So jumping thru all these hoops is the only option. This worked for me so thank you VERY much for this!
@@chrisschultz1662 I agree, bad decision on their part. Once you do this fix method though, the game shouldn't try to update itself anymore. (it hasn't tried for me) Good luck! Let me know how it goes.

went and tried to play today after a year or so of a break. imagine my dismay when the game wouldn't open. thank you so much for this fix!
Huge thanks! Been dealing with BSODs trying to load it up. For some reason my Rocksmith folder from Steam did not even have the D3DX9_42.dll file in it! After downloading it and moving into the folder it has been working great! Will try to see if CDLC works as well.

This worked for me as well. Thank you for the crystal clear directions. I'm still...baffled WHY this happened. I've recently learned that UBISOFT seems to be TRULY an evil corporation and i'm banning ever purchasing a product from them again after the way they treated the rocksmith community with Rocksmith+.

I thought I'd have to uninstall and reinstall Rocksmith, because at first one cdlc didn't work for me - I thought the author screwed something up, I check every next cdlc - and every attempt ends with the game freezing after tuning the guitar. Only the original dlc worked - so I ruled out the need to reinstall and decided to look for the problem - and that's how I ended up here. Also thank you so much for this guide. Take a break from Rocksmith for a few months and realize that things have fucked up again. Thanks for your help - I was not disappointed. You get here, I thought superheroes didn't exist...
I didnt think it would work, but I tried this after windows 11 update and it did not work as I expected. It sent this error when in the Steam Console: Depot download failed : error unpacking chunk for file "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_221680\depot_221681\audio.psarc" Can anyone Help Me!?

Aye thanks for the help man, I was using RS just on the 16th and then came back from work earlier and had the same issue as everyone else. I knew this was the solution but some shit has changed with downgraded stuff last I remember so I had no luck with outdated pages until I found this man. I'm sure the CDLC will be fixed because that will be the only way the RS2014 community will keep it alive. I haven't tried RS+ yet but It's very ironic that Ubisoft put it out a while ago and tried to add stuff I won't use in 2014 but break all my CDLC, this happens every major update. Which is why I hope it's fixed soon. But then again it's Ubisoft, they never liked CDLC in the first place.

Great video! but one thing I didn't understand. Do I keep or delete the files in the other folder where the previous version was copied from?
That is actually all up to you! :) If you would like to keep the files as a backup, then you can. Or you can delete them to save hard drive space.

So after copy and pasting the new files to the Rocksmith folder, is it ok to delete the downloaded files from the depot folder? Seems like that's just wasted space after the copy and paste.

Any reason I get a pop up every time that asks permission to run app? Also can’t hear guitar through speakers.
Does this trick still work? Ive tried it and I get the white screen followed by a black one then the game crashes sending me back to steam I know some people are saying its an issue with CPU core but i only have a 12 core and ryzen 9 5900x. Even tried this fix without adding the modded DLC to it.
That was a really helpful video but know when I'm playing a song, whenever it changes effects it does this sort of saturated beep and goes back half a second
Yeah, I had just realized it does that after I posted the video. Not sure how to go about fixing that yet other than making a amp preset that you like and using that one instead of the one that comes with the song. You can also grab the amp presets from songs in your library and edit or use those if u wanted. I will look into this later and see if there is a way to fix the beeping cause I know its not exactly ideal.

I did all that, but as soon as I launched Steam, it automatically downloaded the new version again & CDLCs don't even show up in the songs' list. I could redo your fix again, but prevent the wifi connection to the internet before opening Steam. Is that what you do each time you're playing?
I just open the game from steam like normal and It works and it doesn't update or anything. Maybe u accidently skipped a step?
