    The radiating lines in your handle material that are so beautiful are medullary rays, not checking from drying. They are especially prominent in oak. They show up as the distinctive flecking in quarter sawn oak. You get the “sun ray” effect when you look at the end grain as you used in your knife handle. Beautiful work and great videos. Keep up the good work.

    thanks for not editing out the moment you accidentally bumped the knife into the grinder at 4:48. you easily could have cut that out but the fact that it's there just goes to show that the process of knife making is difficult one and everybody makes a mistake here or there. hopefully as we get better we make less and less but making a mistake is no reason to give up. ever.

      @@Aleeknives Hey Airin, I use the Adobe Suite for all of my production work. When I was starting out, I took a look at Da Vinci as well, but ultimately decided on Adobe Premiere b/c it's the industry standard - and later on, in the future, I felt like it would be easier to scale with adobe than da vinci. For your second question, I generally script everything into detailed outlines - just so I don't miss any key points I want to communicate to my viewers. Hope that helps!

    Hello frim the UK!! Awesome videos!! I have a question, if I may...How do you stop the metal dust from sanding impregnating itself into the grain of the wood? I have followed your tutorials and made my first knife, well I say knife, its more of a kirpan. However I (stupidly) used beech for the handle which is a very light coloured timber and when cleaning up the blade using wet and dry sandpaper the resulting sludge has left a horrible stain on the wood. Also when I sand the pins in the handle they likewise leave black smudges that I just cant remove. ANY HELP AND IDEAS WOULD BE MUCH APPRICIATED!! And thanks again for all the amazing content!

    • @Aleeknives
      @Aleeknives  3 роки тому +1

      With light colored woods the trick id to use fresh paper and as soon as the paper starts to load up switch it out for more new paper. It is tricky if you use light wood and metal pins. The staining in the wood is most likely only the very top layer of the wood

    Hi there. Watch this a few times and thank you for very detailed informative video!!!!
    Question - How do you handle scales install if knife is textured or colored (Blackened, coated, ionized, etc) ? Surely running such blade's tang against grinder during scales shaping would ruin its texture/color.

    • @Aleeknives
      @Aleeknives  3 роки тому +1

      It would. You would need to make the handle scales using g a different method than this. You can easily color the spine of the knife with a cold bluing solution if that is desired but say yo I have an etched Damascus blade you would need to compete the scales first and then glue them on cleaning the excess glue at that time

    • @EugeneT
      @EugeneT 3 роки тому

      @@Aleeknives Would you be able to explain or show me and others in some details? I figured scales need to be done OFF the blade but short or mocking up another blade from some easy to shape material, mounting scales on that and shaping them, I am not sure.
