CARDFIGHT!! VANGUARD will+Dress - Episode 11: Ruler vs Skyfall
First match of the semifinals has two powerhouse fighters facing off. It is a ferocious fight between fellow knights Bastion and Tohya with a "thirst for strength" against Youthberk and Raika who thinks "there's no meaning apart from winning". What lies beyond this fight, and what does Raika's Skyfall aim to achieve?
"Cardfight!! Vanguard" is a Japanese animation which revolves around the trading card game with the same name. For more information about the game and the world of "Cardfight!! Vanguard", go to the official site (en.cf-vanguard.....
What an amazing episode. Tohya is so awesome. He was the first one who reached out his hand instead of just standing there totally broken and dumbfunded. That's what makes him so cool.
Best boi
He should have won.
@@_Blank_-9261 Yes, but well you know, plot demands for Yuyu's revenge :D
@@_Blank_-9261 it was 100% predictable he would loose, raika has to go to finals so that yuyu can beat him
Best boi, my baby boy inspiring others like his Homie, danji.
Even if Tohya doesn’t win I’d be happy to finally see him cardfight on screen this season.
I think for final maybe michiru gonna fight raika even it not possible 🤣like yuyu gonna win with the plot armor
I think michirus health thing will somehow eliminate him but that might just be me
@@kylecappellini9764 Is it even health-related? I thought it would be a supernatural sense shared by him and Urara to introduce Cray as a real dimension
@@inazumatan7050 tbh i kinda thought that we were not doing the whole cray is an actual place in this version of the show
Michiru is the perfect embodiment of an anime character, never age and never change clothes...
And also has legendary hair of h protagonis
It's kinda funny how Raika don't understand what Tohya's meaning of "wanted to be strong for the sake of being strong". And i kinda relate with Tohya's here, when there's a game that really make me on the edge and me too can make my opponent cornered, even if in the end i lose, i can play the game that feel epic and exciting
Dude same
Truth
So as it seems, Raika has an opponent he aspires to play and defeat. It so happens this fighter is one at the pinnacle of the game and that is what drives him to play in such a state. He seeks to improve himself simply so that he can stand on the level of his idol.
Of course a flaw in this way of thinking is that in his path to reach that one person, he tramples the aspirations of others. He chooses to push himself and leave behind those standing beside him. This ambition comes at the cost of his enjoyment of the game.
You could see it as him misinterpreting what Michiru has told him. That this world class fighter has pinned the future of Vanguard on this boy’s shoulders. So he wins and wins. He see’s people give up their dreams and he chooses to press on. And once that pinnacle he dreams of disappears, he will find the place he’s put himself a lonely and desperate void.
Damn, really good analysis on Raika.
Imagine his reaction, when he saw Michiru lose to Yuyu. All his hard works will go down the drain. The rage he will carry, when facing Yuyu will be immense. And obviously after loosing his cool, he won't be able to defeat Yuyu. Considering Bis Vairina actually counter his Tempest.
isnt it normal to tramples others? there can only be one winner anyway
@@TheChosenOne462 That's Raika's mindset in a nutshell
Man, this fight really could have gone either way. Nice to see Raika really start to sweat as he goes up against people he can't hold his composure against. Tohya really should have anticipated the revol form and intercepted the first attack, but I guess hindsight is 20-20.
If Tohya has 2 Descorda then Raika was done for. Obviously that plot won't allow that
to be fair, if he had simply intercepted with hermonia, the critical trigger would have put youthberk boosted by enucleate over to end the game there.
Tohya went with the correct logic, but had no good way of playing around tempest and a trigger. He could have guarded with the draw trigger and hermona but given his hand, it didn’t look like he would have enough to guard the 4th attack from Raika’s remaining rear guard
@@CreedATM This
Tohya lost due to a 5k guard loss the second Raika top decked into Tempest
@@kodokutamashi1569 don't know about that since Raika has a PG as his last card. Descorda does not nullify a PG effect.
@@tweetugwe1270 you are force to guard with a sum of G3 or it will still hit
I love how raika, the dude who's all about strategy and preparation wins all his matches by top decking the right card and wouldn't nearly win as many matches without his plot armor
Tbf he didn’t top deck the Yu-Yu matchup but yeah he kind of been pulling shit out of his ass for his other 2 on screens
bushi trying to make youthberk look like a menace. yet he would get stomped by most of the other decks he's fought against without plot.
Exactly, i literally ranted to my friend about how Tohya could have won this match on either turn 3 or 4 if he hadn't thrown because of the plot, its annoying as hell that Raika was just set up as "oh Yu-Yu needs to beat him"
As he said in the episode, how you build the deck and strategize leads to those top decks
@@clyden1685 the problem is we never see Raika do said deck building or stratgizing. So it comes off as the show saying "oh yea guys hes smart hes a really good fighter he planned all this out" when you see clear as day during the episodes he has fights in, he is visibly cornered and usually has no out until his opponent either A throws for plot or B he topdecks/Trigger sacks
Even if predictable, Raika´s beats is still dope and looks like next week is gonna bring context for who is Michiru.
If Yu-yu defeats Michiru, I can see Raika internally doing a monkey flip in his mind, thinking yu-yu stole his purpose and goal or something.....
Thinking something among the lines of "But I defeated him... How did he achieved what I aimed for so long after losing! "
It 'does' kinda feel like they're setting it up for Raika to be left w/o a purpose, his fight/dream stolen from him, and maybe mentally breaking down from it.
Seems like michiru gotta surrender his fight due to him finally finding out what's behind the deluxe tournament, and achieving his goals.
I mean, his vanguard is called Youthberk "Skyfall" Arm. Probably it will refer to something of his character
@@zhenbinlam8467 it’s called sky fall because that’s what youthberk wants to make the sky fall I.e bring down the floating ilands of keter sanctuary
@@TheHICDealer interesting, now excuse me as I got to read his lore 😅
19:13 The most epic top deck with the best final turn in vanguard history! What is this!? It's glorious
To say the truth, Raika could still be able to get Tempest to hand without drawing. It will either be by Drive Check or Skyfall skill
It’s literally the old auragyser dragon in overdress
This is because Raika secretly does the Kamui card draw training
@@jy6442 I think you're mistaken. It is the great morikawa training
They really need to release the ost for this season, raika's theme hits too hard, and this is the 3rd day of me coming back to his final turn just to listen to it

Tohya, your Danji is showing...
22:05 Taizo's reaction is me right now lol. We wait for it, we got it and by God Bastion and Youthberk DOES NOT DISAPPOINT. Yes I'll admit the outcome is predictable but tension and action between the two knights more than makes up for it. Despite taking the L, Tohya continues to take the W at being the lovable Vanguard head goofball we all know and cherish.
Also I like to imagine at 23:05 this is what Bastion and Youthberk does after their duel on Cray lol.
Youth and Bastion shaking hands is surprisingly wholesome. Hope in lore they make a difference together
@@scarlightemperor3410 With Bastion acting EXACTLY like Tohya lol it'll be funny yet really wholesome

Here. We. Freaking. Go.
Arguably the most anticipated match of the season.
Ruler vs Skyfall, Dictator vs Rebel, White vs Black, Good(?) vs Evil(?)
Bastion vs Youthberk
Goddamnit I'm so ready for this one.
In this case it’s more
Evil vs good as bastion is a classist dictator
@@TheHICDealer yes on cray the evil one is actually bastion cause it is a dictator
Me too folks
To play devils advocate, Bastion isn't necessarily wholeheartedly evil had he DOES take really good care of the Heavens. True he doesn't pay too much attention to the grounds, he more so cares for the elite as they naturally keep everything running.
Meanwhile, Youthberk still love justice and peace since he was child, but he's really frustrated with the reality exist in Keter
Tohya became such a Danji and I am all for it!
bushi please PLEASE drop the anime insert songs if its an album ill buy it on the spot
I really wanted to see Thoya win ngl but at least we had an epic fight of him! Now next week will be Michiru vs Yuyu which is I have been waiting for weeks!
Best handshake ever first time Raika smiled
This episode, this episode.
Really got me.
Oh my
Raika's theme song ost is fire.
I'll bet michiru collapses which causes yuzu to advance.
This fight got me so hyped!!! Haven’t been this hyped since ren vs reversed Kai 😤😤😤😤🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I don’t think anything will get me as hyped as a ren vs Kai match
Amazing! This fight is just perfect for Tohya because he’s effectively fighting his season 1 self and it’s not subtle but it’s nice to see how far he’s come since then and dam the animation and art direction is so good!!! Also Raika Backstory! God D-series is amazing and it’s only going on for like 2/3 years? I can say it’s on par with the best classic Vanguard, I’d say it surpasses classic Vanguard in almost every aspect but then people would get mad at me.
imma need the name of youthberks theme immediately because every time he 's rode i get hyped this is also almost like royal vs shadows like in the old times.

Fucking so happy! Ahh the
Chills! First we get some back story on michiru and Raika that's a plus and we get a banger of a fight between two knights and the quality is just AH! This is one of my top favorite fights in the show so far it's so action packed, but what I love most is urara's wholesome airheadness she's the best 😂
oh noo a backstory that will get us to like this guy... just what we needed in the last 2 episodes that already rushed the first set of finals.
It was Tohya's first serious card fight of the season against Raika and he surely dominates the board with lots of Grade 3's at disposal but a single draw of Raika's last turn just change the tides. That is why Raika wins the tournament but at least he fought a worthy cardfighter this time he needs one more either Yu-Yu or Michiru to win to face Raika in Finals.
The main event between yu yu vs michiru will be most awaited and exciting match
INB4 Tohya wins because Yuyu informed him of Youthberk Tempest's skill beforehand (the card was amongst those pulled by Yuyu and co in Episode 9).
And the Raika pulls OT for the win.
Tohya definitely deserves to be my favorite character in the past seasons, he’s pretty awesome.
Vanguard cardfight is all about having fun and make friends. But everyone wents to become stronger. For this we also need friends who can help us to success. If Raika went to be stronger, He need friends who can help him to earn his aim. That's what tohya means. But he doesn’t even understand what tohya mean!
16:25 this ost reminds me soo much of code geass, hope we get this and raika's theme released soon
Urara entering on the wrong side, that's so me 🤣
I'm betting Raika will win, like he always does
Raika will definitely win this. Lore wise, Youthberk is a rebellious knight who fights for the people below, who are being ruled by Keter classists, meanwhile Bastion is the leader of the cloud knights who support and protect these classists in the name of "law".
However, its own power will betray Youthbelk.
However, Bastion is a lot more reasonable figure in the Cloud Knights despite being a face of the elites. So technically he's a hero with bad publicity
@@SuperRvince hmmm never really thought of it that way, yeah now you mentioned it, it makes sense!
Hahahahahaha. Comment kau kat top comment beb.
@@imanimran9054 damnnn🤣🤣🤣
Wait, did Tohya misplay? Couldn't he have intercepted+guard the fight Youthberg and pg against the second? And I can't say its a hindsight problem either because he actively reacted to Raika's reaction so it really was kinda obvious he got another Youthberg, especially when he went straight to attacking.
P.S.: Im sensing some Gao Mikado shenanigans with how Mr. Logic is lucking out with some of these wins
Can't do that if tohya do that things with you say Tohya will don't have enough sheild in his hand to guard other units
Sorry my grammar is so bad
didn't he missplay on descorda 2nd swing, which should've been his final attack in the turn instead of alden for the guard restrict?
@@CelestialDeathscythe Raika will still pg Alden.
looking at his final hand, Tohya had a draw trigger, 2 PGs, a Bastion Prime, the grade 3, and an unknown card he discarded for his first PG
assuming his opponent drew anything but tempest, he could PG the first hit, intercept the second through 1 trigger. PG the revoldress, and still have a 10k guard to block the fourth attack if necessary (assuming it was a revoldress gust to get him another trigger to pump up the last rear)
Assuming he does the intercept and guard first. He would leave himself open to potentially that 4th attack. Since Tohya doesn’t know what revoldress raika drew until after he attacks with youthberk, he’s forced to make the play based on his existing knowledge that gust would be his only viable out.
But drawing tempest ruins his ability to guard. Why? because of the additional 5k to front row. It puts both his rear guards into striking distance AND retires his 15k guard. Now this means tohya doesnt have to 15k intercept to guard schneizal meaning he has to PG there. But that means he doesn’t have enough guard to stop the revoldress AND the now 15k 4th attack.
If he had instead intercepted and guarded first, then tempest comes down and now Tohya has to PG the next 2 attacks to still not have enough to guard the fourth at 15k
assuming the tempest did not return his intercept, Tohya actually successfully guards through all 4 attacks by the original way described above. But the fact Raika got to pump his front row AND reduce his guard means that Tohya is off always by 5k in guard to survive all 4 hits
raika's ost IS SO GOOOOOOD
Yeees Tohya, Open that man heart. crack it so someone may open it.
Land protector vs elite sky ruler, Youthberk is a knight of Gold Paladin according to the lore
This episode was awesome!
I'm hoping they give us an episode 13. I don't want them to Skip the last fights
3:23 They finally use the new opening for the promos
This was the best fight so far holy hell
14:38 when you realise the cringe you said 5 seconds ago

Tohya! Didn't you know? Dark Strain is limited to 1!! XD Nice to know that ban lists don't exist in the anime.
the episodes were made before the ban list came out. they would only have had knowledge of the cards coming out and their skills
Aichi still uses Barcgal in Season 1 as starter right until his last fight against Ren.
@@karthus006 if I remember right he used barcgal up until he got his shadow paladin deck then when he went back to royals he used wingal brave
@@vanguardplays3418 I remember he still uses Barcgal in his deck against Koutei in the Semi finals. He even uses its skill to superior ride Blaster Blade.
@@karthus006 he might have its been years since I saw that fight
Well Dang that fight was very intense seeing Raika nearly cornered by Tohya just shows how strong Tohya really is and I like how Tohya starts talking like Bastion in a way, but alas Tohya lost, damn you Raika and your Destiny Draw but it was inevitable that Tohya would lose this due to A chance for Yuyu VS Raika rematch or not. Now we learn why Raika is like this, and I guess it was justified, Tohya keeps reflecting on how they are similar which is now understandable by just looking at Bastion and Youthberk respectively, also loved the aftermath where Raika accepted Tohya as an opponent.
The question now is whether or not this series will have 13 Episodes, because there is no way they can fit two consecutive fights in one episode, unless it will have an episode 13 or Episode 0 of the next season will settle Yuyu vs Raika, or not.
According to CFV wiki and HIDIVE this season will have 13 episodes.
This chapter showed that Raika love the Vanguard's fights but his greed for the win blind that emotion (What's more his admiration for Michiru).
Good Luck Yu-yu, You can win!
Yeah this episode was as expected.Tohya played well but Raika pulled a destiny draw and won the game as expected, for a guy who relies on logic in his fights Raika sure is lucky. As for the new Youthberk Tempest, it feels more of a first turn card compared to Gust and Zest which are finishers, especially since it adds cards to hand and returns the opponents rear guards to the bottom of the deck. Tempest's skill reminds me of Aurageyzer Doomed's in a way. What I like about this episode is that Tohya managed to crack Raika's shell, now all Yu-yu needs to do is break it. An episode with a predictable result but it does help further Raika's development. Next episode will be Yu-yu vs Michiru, can't wait to see the new Varina that probably counters Michiru's deck. Also how are they supposed to fit Raika vs Yu-yu when this season is only just 12 episodes.
According to HiDive, this season is made of 13 episodes.
They can't. My theory is that Yuyu WON'T win against Michiru. In order for them to fit the final match but not show it, it has to be one they can just gloss over. So what I think will happen (tho I'm not for sure about) is Yuyu will actually lose to Michiru, the finals will be Michiru vs Raika and the latter will get crushed since we can't have Michiru, the ace, be beaten by anybody other than the eventual true champ in Yuyu Kondo.
But someone has to be the third slot that gets to play in an exhibition match vs. american fighters. If there's a match for third place, Yuyu would beat Tohya and narrowly clinch the spot with Raika and Michiru is my guess. OR Michiru forfeits before Raika gets his dream fight (which actually would be kinda expected if I think about it given how his health seems to be in question).
But I don't think we'll get a Yuyu vs Raika rematch in this half-season; we'll probably get it in the next half of will+dress. ~Ry
Edit: I guess the other possibility is that Michiru forfeits before his match against Yuyu and Epi12 becomes Yuyu vs Raika but I feel that'd be anticlimatic for this tournament arc as a whole. And there seems to be something deeper going on so.
@@gameweavers2655 Or, the season simply has 13 episodes, and will fit Yuyu v. Raika.
@@MH_Zard I didn't actually see that comment. I need to look for the +See Replies thing below. That and I'm used to all the seasons having been 12 episodes. xD I mean if that's the case then I retract the statement, we just BARELY have time for Yuyu vs Michiru this episode and whatever happens in the last one.

Raika: Your deck is stacked with grade 3's.
You make it sound like he's Morikawa and at the same time if Morikawa was apart of the D series he would've loved having the Bastion deck with it's focus on grade 3's.
I imagine that if the G Arc of V wasn't cancelled for If (due to Bushiroad being deadlocked with Shadowverse over TVTokyo at the time), Morikawa would be running his OG counterpart's affinity for Grade 3s due to the skills of Rising Nova and a G2 support piece.
Imagine the hell Morikawa could've cause if someone builds him an Asura Kaiser deck and perhaps even a Daikaiser deck...
How old is Michiru if he doesn't seem to have aged one single day in seemingly 10 years?

I didn't really watch the series, Im here only for Tempest. & I gotta say it's really nutty. Reveal top 2 to draw, & send 1 opponent's unit back to deck if there's a unit's grade same as any of the cards revealed. & that passive 5k to front row rears. Goddamn it is spicy. There's gonna be a field-cont based Youthberk deck coming up when it got release.

New Xoverdress. That's the only answer
So this match went as anticipated but it didn’t disappoint…the game itself anyway and the riding of Tempest. I like the standard backstory for Rakia but come on, another top deck victory? Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure here just in his match with Taizo he had to sack the new Youthberk when he did otherwise it was game. I don’t have a problem with plot armor but a bit problem with logic man winning by it…twice now. Though I will say that even though the outcome was obvious to me it was well done…now I hope that Yu-yu vs Michiru doesn’t involve the upset because I do believe Yu-yu should lose
