After a few seasons of cleaning out my TG, I have wisened up. Instead of disassembling the whole unit, I pressure wash the outside, then fill the tub with bleach and water, turn on the pump, and let it run overnight. Drain and add fresh water, turn the pump on to rinse. Seems to work great!
👍🏻 Thanks for sharing the pro and con of this type of gardening. I've only heard the pro side. Good tools to consider before getting involved with this system.
You have absolutely convinced me that I need to do the homemade version of hydroponic gardening. I've seen several inexpensive options and the only ongoing cost is the electricity to keep it running and the fertilizer.
I'm so excited! I just got my second hand tower and it came with a second set of lights and pump! I've been watching these for a few years. It's my turn now! Great review!
Love your pros and cons of the tower planter. Best I've seen. I just finished 2 towers and estimate 20 plants in each. My cost to make them was about $20 and two days time. Not a hydroponic system but I will be doing the water by hand.

Thanks so much for your video! You've clear all my doubts! I currently have a little garden and got very frustrated with plant deseases, wasting tons in fertilize, new soil, etc. I´ll keep watching your videos in order to learn more and get my GT. BTW, the figures around how much water, space and soil this system can save, plus the extra flavor makes on your vegetables makes these a dream come true! 🤓 Thanks!
Well, I was so excited because I just happen to turn on my iPad and I was in the UA-cam channel and I saw your video. I just purchased my tower garden. A few weeks ago and I just planted lettuce all over it because I really wanted to see how this all worked. I got it from Juice Plus. But I am so grateful for your complete honest information. And I too am learning there’s lots of things they don’t tell you when you first invest in this but I do believe it’s a good investment I live in a condo in Canada, I love my fresh lettuce. I’ve given lots away. Moving forward I am going to watch your videos and learn as much as I can. Thank you very much Terry Deck, Vancouver.🇨🇦🙏
Fantastic review!! True Garden should sponsor you for sure!;) pro tip for audio...purchase a couple of foam panels and set up at eye level on either side of you, off-camera. That echo will vanish. Great video!
Thank you for this great video! Love to see a video about your favorite seeds/places to buy seeds and ALSO how you are growing seeds. I just got my first tower garden and am getting started.
i've had 5 healthy size cucumbers in 3 months. I think buying them at Sprouts is still cheaper. Plus, when making a Mediterranean salad, I like to use 3 cucumbers and they didn't work at the same time when I needed them. LOL. When I redo my GT, I'm gonna take up your suggestion about tomatoes on one side oppose to having it go around the tower. When we planted, we were not advised well. Love all your insights and truths. Thank you.
We had 2 cucumber plants and had too many cucumbers each day! We are going to have 1 cucumber plant this year (we are in Wales, UK) I wonder whether it's the variety we grow also?
I agree with you about the cost. I found 3 towers and extensions and 2 aero gardens with seeds and rock wool and a bag of plugs and gallons of their fertilizer for $1000 CND. Then I have ordered lights because no one wants to break up their complete set second hand
The truth is, plants only need and use 17 types of nutrients and the amount of each type of nutrient needed varies for each plant. It could be argued that correctly hydroponically grown plants are more nutritious than regular ground grown (also, hydroponic plants, especially those grown indoors with proper lighting, require significantly less pesticides if any at all) It's an expensive system but if you're will to try it I say go for it! It may end up saving you money in the long run. Disclaimer: I am not a plant scientist but have done quite a bit of extensive study in the field. I hope this info helps. Good luck!
Proprietary consumeables concerns me. But a bigger issue is their LED grow light system: It's not full spectrum ... can you confirm? It would explain their web site doesn't list things such as peppers, strawberries, and mellons are indoor options.

Great video, very helpful. I would like to see video of harvesting different vegetables, herbs etc. I just got my TG and veggies not there yet. Not sure when to pick baby greens, lettuce etc. Do you take leaves or the whole head?
You can let the lettuces grow as long as you like. I've already harvested some swiss chard & spinach. Now they're ready again. But this time I think I'll let them grow to see how big they'll actually get.
I ran up to walmart and nursery and got plants there. Washed roots and inspected plants for bugs and used them. So far so good. I am trying to grow the vining plants inside. Did you have success wirh them inside?
I would suggest a powdered hydroponic fertilizer BTW, this is not a true airoponic system but more like a vertical Nutrient Film True airoponic produces a fog of nutrients
I am not a green thumb but I purchased a tower garden today. I am growing indoors. My concern is having to “be the bee and pollinate the flowers” and pruning. I don’t know how to prune or what plant self pollinates and what plants I need to help pollinate.
I’m so glad! There is so much good information that can help you. Things like tomatoes, eggplants, peas, etc are self pollinated, which means you really shouldn’t have to do much except give them a light shake when they’re blooming. Other things like zucchini require pollination by hand, but that is also easy to do! I know this sounds silly, but I really did Google “how to pollinate ____” for every single thing I grew when I started gardening! Best of luck!
Do you think that the grow lights would be required during the winter? I am wondering about putting tower gardens into a greenhouse and if the natural lighting would be sufficient year-round.
Natural light is always preferable! The grow lights are strictly for indoors. I’ve always had my tower garden in partial or almost complete shade and it’s done well. It should thrive in a greenhouse!
Yes, you can grow delicious tomatoes and cucumbers in the tower during the winter. I recommend smaller varieties like cherry tomatoes and Roma tomatoes, and smaller pickling size cukes.
You can but the tomatoes are not as tasty than if grown properly in soil. The constant watering dilutes their flavour. Especially indoors. It’s best for herbs and leafy greens.
No pests inside...ROTL!!!! Sorry. You haven't been there, so you couldn't know. Somehow, some way, fungus gnats and aphids will find you if you're growing 50 feet underground at the North Pole. :-D I usually control them with neem oil, but they got ahead of me and I just today gave up on this batch - threw out all my lettuce and am taking a break from cleaning my hydroponic system. Appreciate the review!
No. You only need to do a good clean once a year. And you can Tahoe out the plants and place them in water if you’ll be more than a couple hours cleaning it. Last time I just took them out, laid them on a table, and then inserted them back after it was clean
This may be a dumb question but using the liquid fertilizer, how do you still consider that an organic garden? I’m new to gardening and this type of gardening seems very appealing. I have a sick kid who needs clean chemical free food, would this be considered chemical free food?
Hi I have just bought a garden tower last year haven't even set it up due to studying but hopefully in January my problem is I live in the UK so I don't have the so great wealth but I need to eat, can you help me with the soil I understand that the tower will need a very good soil and lot's of it and also seeds.has I have an inside porch I can bring the tower in in the cold mouths.
The Tower requires no soil. You can use rock wool cubes, clay pebbles or coconut coir as substrate. It also comes with some cubes, the seeds to start. If you’re on a super tight budget you can usually get a small pack of seeds at your local discount store or garden center. A few seeds goes a long way, and you can let a few plants go to seed then harvest them and plant them.
@@lorrainehaggerty1333 Hi just seen your message the tower does require soil, it's from the USA so you can check it out, but you might be think about the tower that grows seeds in home, I forgot the name, but this needs soil, it also has a feeding tray, and a water tray, I need to add worms to the tower, everything that one does in one's garden i can do in the tower, thank you so much.
How much is the soil and how many times do you need to purchase it to upkeep with it? Also, how many times do you need to purchase the pH balance for the water? I am new to all of this and I'm doing a lot of research before purchasing, but I'm seriously considering it.
The tower garden uses rock wool cubes. You only use the cubes once for optimal plant health. It comes with 20 cubes, enough for one planting. You can purchase an extra package of 98 cubes for $21, which will last an entire growing season or 4 plantings, or a case just shy of 3,000 cubes. You can also buy them on Amazon and other places. They’re completely interchangeable. The ph balance; I have only ever used ph- as I have well water. Tap water is usually alkaline as well. Spring water is pretty neutral. I have sooo many ph+, I have to find someone who needs it. LOL. The container you get with the tower should last you at least one season, and again it can be gotten pretty much anywhere. You only use a small amount when topping off, you’ll use a bit more for a full water change or initial fill, if you even need it. I’ve found that when adding nutrients it brings the ph down a bit. So if it’s borderline to begin with you may not even need ph adjustments. My email is FishHagg@aol.com if you have other questions. If anyone needs ph+ let me know!
I wouldn’t recommend it. There’s a water pump at the base, and because the tank system is completely sealed to prevent bugs, the fish wouldn’t be getting any sunlight at all. It wouldn’t be very humane.
I wouldn’t put fish into the tower. However, you can link the tower into a garden pond in the Summer and pump fishy water into the tower, or scoop it from your ponds into the tower instead of filling it with a hose or jugs.
That is simply not true. You can purchase the ph testers solution, the liquid food and the rockwool cubes from amazon exact ones or at my local hydroponics store in which I purchase everything. Now the cleaning is correct it is tedious for sure.
I have tried other liquid fertilizers from other places and none have compared to the tower garden fertilizer. I HAVE, as you said, purchased rock wool cubes from Amazon, and they’ve worked well! They’re just not the exact size to fit inside of the cups.
I find it amazing that folks are willing to pay such a high price for something that isnt aeroponic. I recently watched a video of a commercial farm comprised of 200 tower gardens. They stated each tower uses 4-7L of water per day which is quite possible with lettuce and a climate control. They said they ran the (200) pumps ran for 12 minutes per hour. which is an eternity compared to genuine aeroponics but ok. Here`s the interesting thing, the pumps used in the taller commercial towers are 45w Sicce brand pumps that are capable of pumping water to 3m. Looking at the pump specification, running the pump for 12 minutes per hour as stared will deliver between 220L and 240L to the top of the tower. Each of the 52 plants in the tower will , given perfectly even distribution, receive well over 4L of water every hour. Over a 24 hour period, the pump will deliver upto 5760L (1521us gal) to a tower that only requires a meager 4-7L (1-1.5 us gal) If the tower garden was a genuine aeroponic tower you could set it to deliver 8L (2 gal) or even 10L (2.5gal) per day and save a bunch on the power bill. I would have a tower garden if it came for free. If you own a stanndard tower garden, you should temeasure how much water is pumped to the shower cap during one irrigation cycle and check the level in the reservoir to figure how much the tower uses per day. You may be surprised by the results.
Depending on where you source materials, that might be true. But the Tower Garden will last for 10-12 years without the plastic cracking, even in harsh sun. I love the durability and long lasting potential, personally. It keeps me from having to waste materials by rebuilding a home made system.
I have grown an excellent crop of cucumbers in my Towers this year! My snap peas and bush beans are growing beautifully too. They do need some support - you can put some wire or string on a lattice next to the tower garden, or cut a round tomato cage open and place it around the tower, sitting on your base. Works great.
@@jenniferbyrne4567 craigslist....some guy was downsizing...he gave me the whole setup...with extra two top stackers and the supports, the liquid fertilizer... pump...whole shabang...and some cuttings of his plants.... I hate to see false information put out there. Ph balancing and nutrients aren't proprietary. People can use anything. It sort of depends on their local water source, what type of vegetation they are growing, lighting and whatnot. But it doesn't have anything to do with the unit that you grow something in.
No no, I agree with you! I’ve used several other Ph balancers, and I’ve tried other nutrients with this system before. Although the Ph testing kits worked just as well, I’ve had issues with every other A/B mineral blend I’ve used in this particular system. I was getting color stains on the plastic, calcium build up, all sorts of nasty stuff. I prefer to stick to the TG brand because for me, it’s tried and true, and nothing has come close to it. But there are several other brands out there.
@@morgan.b.writes yea agree on all points. I actually had rethought my comment. Because there are some products out there that have premixed everything and taken the guess work out of the equation. I can see where that would be worth paying for.
@@xvgonzales it is. I have 3 towers 24 aeroflow 2 rails sup 16 and 36 Dutch Buckets . A whole cabinet of dif nutrients to choose from.. In the towers have tried MANY. the A B. That has worked and works is the best. On my strawberry tower I do run the PH lower.
You are one lovely young lady. I’m traveling the country in an RV and saw this in another RV. I can also become a partner, to earn $$ while promoting them ... score. I’m getting one. Thanks.
This is actually only one small part of my garden. I believe heavily in soil regeneration, and 99% of my garden is done in an organic, no-till, regenerative soil method. But I also know that many people live in apartments that have nothing but a small balcony or window, and I went to present options that allow them to sustainably and organically grow food as well. So I would disagree with your statement.
@@morgan.b.writes I appreciate your comments. Very few people are willing to bring out the negatives and they get slammed when they do. I personally think the proliferation of plastics at every juncture of the food chain is probably linked to all kinds of human ailments. I am not interested in designing a "better way" than nature that prioritizes plastic and chemicals in the production of food.
@@fareshajjar1208 I agree with you, plastic is absolutely harmful. I try to keep it out of my home and garden whenever physically possible. But I understand that so many people either do not share this as a priority or have no other option, and I’d like to share options for that audience as well.
The towers are made from food grade PVC, soil in many areas of the world is not healthy enough to sustain life. Vertical gardening is absolutely a great solution for feeding a large amount of people with very little water usage. And it’s an excellent option for Cities - rooftops, balconies and apartments.

Have you done any video updates? i didn't see any in your video list
I will be filming one soon!! We just moved a few months ago so had to get settled in.
Our water is very hard, do you recommend a filter to take out some of the mineral deposits before the water is put into the tower garden?
If you can find a way to filter it out, I would recommend it!
Have you tested the pH or the EC/TDS of your water?
Where can i buy fruits and vegetables for my tower garden
You can use seeds from absolutely any seed company!
Can you grow iceburg lettuce in a tower garden indoors?
Can you use fish in this system to go around the buying the supplements?
I wouldn’t recommend it. There’s a water pump at the base, and because the tank system is completely sealed to prevent bugs, the fish wouldn’t be getting any sunlight at all. It wouldn’t be very humane.
@@morgan.b.writes - Indeed, it sounds more fishy than humane. 🤙 😉
I wouldn’t put fish into the tower. However, you can link the tower into a garden pond in the Summer and pump fishy water into the tower, or scoop it from your ponds into the tower instead of filling it with a hose or jugs.
Do we need specific type of seeds ?

How long do the feeding chemicals last?
Around 4-6 months, in my experience!
Mine lasted a year. I grow indoors. I even scaled back nutrients bc my plants were growing “too” well and I couldn’t keep up eating them
That is simply not true.
Cleaning is not tedious at all. Once a year and takes 2 hours max. Not a lot to ask
Wao great
Hello! Can you grow fruits inside using a Tower Garden?
What all have you grown successfully in your Tower Garden?
What inspired you to leave the company as a distributor?
Do you mean it’s $50 a month for maintenance and upkeep after making full payment?
thank you for this reveiw. please consider filming somewhere else though as it echos rather badly there
Yes!! I’m so sorry, I noticed that after filming. I’ve switched to a carpeted area that works better.
Couldn't have picked a worse location to record sound for your video...
But you can build your own for around $100 in materials
Depending on where you source materials, that might be true. But the Tower Garden will last for 10-12 years without the plastic cracking, even in harsh sun. I love the durability and long lasting potential, personally. It keeps me from having to waste materials by rebuilding a home made system.
You should do that and sell them online for $2-300. I’m waiting… lol
Your idea of tower gardening is still small. Hard to grow vine and root crops.
I think growing any food is better than growing no food.
Not true at all. I’ve grown vine plants very easily. Roots yes, but it can still grow most things
I found a tower garden for 100$ today but I would never buy it new. It's so inexpensive to make your own system.
Where did you find one for $100?? 👀
@@jenniferbyrne4567 craigslist....some guy was downsizing...he gave me the whole setup...with extra two top stackers and the supports, the liquid fertilizer... pump...whole shabang...and some cuttings of his plants.... All I needed was new net baskets... One of the best deals I've found... easily near 1K if bought new.
You don't need their fertilizer pH adjuster you just need to make an educated decision when buying such things
I don’t use it very often. Their fertilizer balances pretty well!
@@morgan.b.writes that's why you select a nutrient that's pH buffered suitable for the type of plant you're trying to grow
No. It’s very simple and easy. You don’t need to check it all the time. And you grow many types of plants in the same tower
Not affiliated o wait there is a affiliate link
Not an affiliate link. If you click on it, it literally just takes you to the tower garden website. I get zero profit from any sales that result from people clicking the link.
Don’t make ignorant comments

@Christopher Paul - did you ever get your tower, or become a distributor? 🤞
Nur Stunden langes Gekwassel. Zeigt endlich mal den Tower Garden.
Plastic plastic plastic. You are replacing the soil with plastic.
Plastics isn’t is the problem, ignorance and misusing it is.
The towers are made from food grade PVC, soil in many areas of the world is not healthy enough to sustain life. Vertical gardening is absolutely a great solution for feeding a large amount of people with very little water usage. And it’s an excellent option for Cities - rooftops, balconies and apartments.

MY EXPERIENCE
I had looked up Juice Plus; purchased one months ago, lost seeding setup directions, got waylaid by life, today on UA-cam to sort it all out. Saw (Honest UNSPONSORED,...) Read UNCENSORED. lol Clicked, and here I am. Glad i did.
WHAT I LIKED
I liked that FIRST you listed possible DRAWBACKS to consider THEN definite PROS to using the system. Two reasons. 1) personal experience sez negative comes to mind first, even with things we WANT, we then immediately go negative about all that's wrong once we get it. [Anyone who is/has been married or in love KNOWS... 2) Then, in keeping with Priya Parker's sharing about why the WAY we end interactions is important, your ending positively left me inspired. I not only decided my investment WAS exactly right for me (instead of selling the system, which i considered midway thru your video), but also am choosing to complete the setup, [I also learned that I CAN set it up AND take it down - I had seen it as a commitment to never move OR move IT] dig into learning hydroponics, and also grow MYSELF exponentially as i eat the greens that were the main reason i purchased the system. THANKYOU, Morgan! Thank you.
p.s. I'm sure "Universal Systems" [who called from the Juice Plus phone number, lol :) would thank you too if they knew. lol
