Damn dude! What a bummer! Thanks for still posting up the races at least. Hopefully that didnt kill your drive to rebuild and try again. I felt that anger when it popped for sure.
That is the first time ever I’ve seeing a VW engine detonate like that and I’ve been driving them constantly for the last 20 odd years wow something definitely came loose Inside the block or Crank/block was already cracked
All rods bolts are still tight, all bearings are fine. Even the one that came out of the block is fine Cast crank just fatigued from abuse is all. Taking a redline from 5800 to 8400 sure didn’t help. It held together for a while though.
That sucks, I'm so sorry. Is there a way to replace the crank with something stronger? I am watching this as I ask the question. hey does NeedaVR6 still race? He was quite helpful back in the day when I was building my 12v VR6.
With me getting the all motor stuff back up this year all the old guys are out lol. VW NATIONALS vid is next youll see him and his others. Then we have the last race sept 22
Mate noooooo!! That’s so shitty! Really sucks I’m sure you’ll get her back up and running better than ever but still I’ve never seen an N/A set up have that much crank carnage!? I thought all the 3.6L had forge cranks? I suppose my mistake!
Hate to see it, but glad to already see it back in 1 piece on IG! Also...family trackday goals! 🤘
Daaaamn man rooting for a greater comeback !

Not all. From my reading the single bolt crank is cast and the multi bolt balancer means forged
It appears only transverse engines only with multi bolt cranks are forged.
Ive seen Tuareg that are multi bolt and cast
