NY Army National Guard teams provide funeral honors for 6,800 families in 2024

In 2024, the New York Army National Guard's Honor Guard provided military funeral honors for over 6,800 families, a solemn tribute to veterans' service. With eight regional detachments, 116 Soldiers conducted nearly 7,000 ceremonies across the state, covering over 390,000 miles. Long Island’s team was the busiest, handling over 2,100 burials, many at Calverton National Cemetery. Despite the physical and emotional demands, Honor Guard members take pride in honoring those who served.
