Them Crooked Vultures might be the best suggestion at this moment
REAL
100%
100%
Stellar Album.
Agreed
"Everybody was drowning in the Fountain of Youth" is easily one of my very favorite Qotsa lyrics.
Fun fact, the reason 'The Evil Has Landed' sounds so classic is because it was made all the way back in 2003, but never used until now. Same with 'The Way You Used To Do', made in 2013 and 'Head Like a Haunted House' in 2007.
Where can I learn more about this?
The debut is definitely held in high regard, would love a reaction. It's most comparable to Rated R, with a less varied tracklist in terms of energy. Some real high points as well as some forgettable moments, Mexicola is a top 5 Queens song for me.
Lezzzzz gggogooooop, underrated album
Lets goooo! Finally! Only the self titled and Them Crooked Vultures left now, oh also, at 17:56, surprisingly it has been used before, in the track River in the Road :D
I circled back to this album this year. I’ve really come to appreciate how groovy and danceable it is. I saw QOTSA live one week ago. It was my fourth time seeing them, and they were incredible. My favorite song to hear live is “Mexicola” from the self-titled album. I was very pleasantly surprised to hear them play “Avon” from the self-titled and “Into The Hollow” from Era Vulgaris this time around. They are not playing the same songs every night, so no telling what you will hear. I have one recommendation - really keep an eye on Mikey Shoes the bass player, especially if they play “My God Is The Sun”. The man is so dynamic. He really gives you a show when they play that one!
Pleasssseeeee react to Them Crooked Vulturesssss. It’s one of my favorite albums of all time
I saw Queens at the Niagara Falls show in 2017 where they played Evil Has Landed for the first time (before it was even on the radio) and let me tell you, no one was expecting it to go so hard at the end. The whole room was grooving it was such a wild show
Buried so close to the fountain of youth, you can almost reach.
was waiting for the Hideaway reaction, my favourite song, just ever. glad u did a part 2. i'd love a ranking, and self titled is pretty good too
Glad I didn’t disappoint :)
I’d never be able to pick a favorite song but. Villains if Circumstance is definitely up there
Never thought this day would come
Early Christmas present?
Nice to see you're finally reacting to the rest of this album. Been watching you since 2018 and you are one of my favorite music related channels. Keep up the good work!
Haha, same here
YOU MUST NOT MISS Josh singing villains of circumstance on Jools Holland, you will not regret it
I’m gonna look it up ASAP thanks for the tip, love that song so much
so glad you covered this album, so many beautiful songs! would be interested to see your reaction to the debut album, but even more so I'd love to hear your thoughts on Them Crooked Vultures!
The evil has landed and Villains are 2 of my favourite Queen's songs.
Please listen to villains live on jools Holland... It will blow your mind.
Also, them crooked vultures is the next step to take like many others have said already.
Era vulgaris is a masterpiece.
Yes, you should react to the debut album.
It's a crazy listen
Them crooked vultures is a must your mind will actually be blown
that was the bass at the beginning of villains of circumstance! mikey shoes is such a great bassist. there are lots of amazing technical players but i'd much rather be able to play as tastefully as he does
I thought that part 2 must have been taken down for copyright or something, glad that wasn't the case lol
Yesss! Glad you love Hideaway as much as I do, such a cool track. I also dont really understand the hate for this album, some really killer tracks. Would love to see some QOTSA rankings, but also a ranking of the tracks on the new rb album, similarly to the one you did of Typhoons
Haven’t seen them live but currently I’m stuck on River in the Road, Obscenary, Straight Jacket Fitting and Go With The Flow
For live performances, as far as this album is concerned, The Evil Has Landed(Check out Maida Vale Studio version or KCRW) and Villains of Circumstance(Especially Maida Vale Studio). VoC is somewhat divisive in the fandom as it was originally debuted by Josh solo on acoustic at a show years before Villains and a number of fans prefer that version. (It’s on UA-cam somewhere.) Personally, I prefer the version we got on the album, but I am(at least by r/qotsa standards) in the minority.
But the track that, if I ever could go to a show, I’d love for them to play? Straight Jacket Fitting. Check out the Rock Werchter 2023 version for context. Josh makes an audience participation section out of the “Carpe Demon” section and it is transcendent.
Straight Jacket Fitting live is insane, I was at Düsseldorf where Josh was crowdsurfing, I also loved the part where he got the audience to sing
Yeah the version we got on the album of Villains of Circumstance is much better than the OG for me as well
Yess finally thank you!!!😊
Please I'm begging you to react to Them Crooked Vultures. It's honestly incredible
I know a couple of people have already said this before but you got to listen to Them Crooked Vultures after you're done listening to QOTSA's debut album, its by far one of my most favorite works that Josh has worked on
saw them live in november, they are in amazing form, so glad i got to experience that
I love the new production style
I love the transition at 10:36
Love your Queens videos man. I love all their work too. But once I heard Era Vulgaris for the first time, it stood out even amongst Songs for the Deaf, and some of their other best work. They don't have a bad album, whatsoever. Their albums are so great. But Era Vulgaris is prime Queens of the Stone Age for me. Thinking back to when I was 8 or 9 and playing Guitar Hero 3, and playing 3's & 7's for the first time, and that song was on Madden 08 too. That was the only Queens song I knew until about end of HS until I heard My God is the Sun on Rockband 4. Then I looked into the band more, and found No One Knows & The Evil Has Landed. Then a couple of years later, I stumbled on In My Head, and then I just went full into Queens and started listening to their albums. So basically for the last two years, I've been jamming out to Queens of the Stone Age every day. They've definitely changed my life, and are by far my favorite band. And like you, I'm obsessed with Era Vulgaris. Best album in my opinion, but every album is unique and has their own personality. Their work is so diverse but yet all equally great. It what makes the band so great, and stands the test of time. I can't wait to see you rank the albums. Your videos are the absolute best man.
Favourite Qotsa song live was probably I Appear Missing
Regular John is undefeated live.
YES YES AND YES! Also... They played "Villains" live here in Austin recently. Seen 'em a buncha times, but this last show was just epic beyond belief!
Picking a favourite is so difficult. Depending on mood I'm torn between Sick Sick Sick, I Never Came and Negative Space. The Way You Used To Do has however been my ringtone for the last 6yrs
A fellow sick sick sick man! It sounds like nothing else they’ve made honestly.
@@NightwalkReal and the tracks either side of it help it stand out even more. Good music video to it as well.
The debut album will give you the heavy guitars you're looking for!
I'm glad to see you enjoying this album. It's unduly looked down upon.
The other comments reccomending Them Crooked Vultures I must agree with. It's a 1 album project between 3 artists, Josh Homme, Dave Grohl and a 3rd artist from Led Zeppelin that i sadly do not recall the name of.
I fear you wouldn't much like much of the tracks of Kyuss (the 'predecessor' band to QoTSA.)
Era Vulgaris is a grower but when it clicks it clicks hard
you've got to listen to mexicola and you can't quit me baby on debut both are incredible and easily atleast top 15 qotsa songs
When I saw queens live Better Living Through Chemistry was my fave of the setlist
Get debut reviewed
You’ve gotta do Them Crooked Vultures!
I get a LOT of Bowie vibes off UnReborn Again
I've always thought so too. The singing on the verses especially
Love that Chimera was on your wrapped; definitely my favorite Polyphia song.
Playing god is up there for me too. But such a cool combo of genres, huh?
Glad Era Vulgaris has grown on you - it did for me as well, and it's right up there as my favourite album from them. I think the weirdness and the experimental nature of the album makes it really rewarding on repeated listens. Sick, Sick, Sick was my favourite on the album for a while, but I think Turnin' on the Screw is my favourite now.
IT ARRIVES AT LAST
Man, Hideaway is such an underrated track. One of my favorites from this record.
Also, I was lucky enough to catch The Evil Has Landed live in 2018. When they broke into that last section…it was like the sound guy cranked the volume to 11, just for that. Loudest and most glorious sound I’ve ever heard. Hope you get it at your show!
Edit: I agree with the production falling flat on this one. The songwriting and performance are DEFINITELY there, no doubt, but it could’ve benefited from a thicker sound (which they do have live).
However, I think ITNR is produced perfectly. It’s really wide of you listen with a stereo system; it’s definitely a “room” album. Car works too if it’s a decent setup. I have noticed that with headphones it’s a little flat, which is a shame, but it’s well worth it to hear it on a big, roomy system.
Ok, rant over 😂 sorry for the essay.
definitely check out their debut, and then them crooked vultures, josh homme on guitar/vox dave grohl on drums, and john paul jones on bass, possibly the best rock supergroup ever to exist
You absolutely should react to the First. It's completely different. It's more Kyuss-ish.
Royal Blood/QOTSA in Vegas was one of the best concerts I've ever seen!
Whens the 1st album review coming??
unreborn again and the evil has landed are 2 of their very best
it's definitely bass chords in Villains of Circumstance
Maybe not a masterpiece, but underrated AF
Listening to Like Clockwork ... , Villains and In times new roman back to back
The experience of this album improves drastically
Is a perfect thematic midlle point to the trilogy
Please check out the Tigercub - As Blue As Indigo album 😊
yes
Please do them crooked vultures it is awesome
I hated the production on first listen, but this album has grown enormously on me, I was wrong Josh was right, it's banger after banger. Truly one of the GOATs
jesus dude. I forgot you didn't even drop the pt 2 lmao
This album sounds like it's "edges sawn off"
At this point you'd probably feel disappointed or unimpressed by their debut album, but it most definitely deserves a listen. I still love it, but then again, I love Radiohead's "Pablo Honey", so... XD
Hey I enjoy it too! More than king of limbs haha
@@NightwalkReal XD
please react to the self titled debut. for me it was a grower, but it has fs become one of my favorites from qotsa
Haven’t see queens live yet but would love to see I appear missing
Also after the debut you should check out Them Crooked Vultures!
Are they playing it on this tour?
@@NightwalkReal no idea but I missed my city anyway 🥲
Ahh man, next time.
@@NightwalkReal So far on this tour I don't think it's been played, but they've been busting out random deep cuts so it has a chance!
I'm still waiting for part three of ok computer b sides
I got some Arctic Monkeys and Ghost vibes with this part 2 if I speed it up a bit.
I guess it’s time to go down the QOTSA rabbit hole again 😂
Debuutttttt album next pleaseeeee if you can
Please react to the first album!!
personally, i think "the evil has landed" is the BEST queens' song ever, easily. but "sick, sick, sick" is just so addicting.
