I feel the best way to describe the difference between OPM and Mob was that OPM started as a joke and ended up an actual series while Mob from the start was meant to be a series.
Yep OPM was ONEs hobby (much like Saitamas hobby is being a hero) and Mob Psycho 100 was him making a serialized comic. I believe it was the Eyeshield 21 mangaka who approached ONE about making OPM into a manga but I'm not certain on that info.
i think the difference is that one put more passion in mob that in OPM and it can be seen even in the drawings, and yeah both are great but at the end i think is pretty special the emotions that one put in mob
This show has my heart. Unlike a lot of people who turn away from the show because of its artstyle, that's actually the reason I started it. It was different and new. I have always been a fan of the "unpolished" look. something about it just makes me appreciate animation as an art form even more. The way the animators experiment, take risks, and adapt the art to the tone of the show amazed me. You can feel the passion of the creators behind it. So while I went into this show with no expectations it easily became my favorite show. And while I'm not gonna say everyone would love it as much as I do I think the theme of self improvement in the show is something that just about anybody can resonate with.
SAME! i loved how unique the MP100 artstyle was and it annoyed me so much when ppl put it off because it didn't have that typical anime look with bright shiny eyes and detailed still frames lol or the moe-blob look.
I actually got sick of the squeaky clean anime look. Anime started to typically look like SAO. So when I saw Mob, it was a heavy whiplash of anime style. But after the first episode of ugly faces, I truly embraced it. Edit: Reigen and Mob were never ugly to me tho
I was actually quite attracted to the art. It was unique. I liked the roughness. It was the same feeling while I was reading the OPM webtoon. Even though ONE isn't a good artist, there was something charming about it. Also, OPM might be One's dream project in which he might have given his soul, but in Mob Psycho 100 he had given his heart.

Animation is arguably one of the bests of all time and u can tell by the love animators put on it, part is bc they love the manga aswell so they go all in on every episode

@@azure5584 ok first off. No, never call it that again and secondly its because Madhouse, the animator for S1 didn't have an open slot for a few years and all the fans with 0 patience kept rushing s2 so they ended up switching to JC Staff instead of sticking with Madhouse

I for one would've much more preferred to wait an additional year or even two if it meant the animation quality would remain on the level of what the first season provided. Fans ate usually stupid but occasionally the studios are as well.
That art joke was good enough to subscribe. I'm surprised at how people weren't hook after the Teru-Mob fight. 100% Sadness made me amazed at how honest and deeply we dived into Mob's psychology and the reality of his struggle
same, after S1 finished i immediately started on the manga and finished it in a few days, i was absolutely hooked on the story. and it just kept getting better as it went on.
Mob psycho 100 is one of like 4 other anime that I've actually given a 10/10 to. I think what really did it for me was episode 7, in season 2. The whole Reigen arc was incredible. And the Shimazaki fight scenes. Still some of the coolest things I've ever seen in anime.

Mob psycho is definitely in my top 3 anime but I do feel the start of each season drags a bit too much as the mob and reign shenanigans are good and funny they don’t have the same level of quality the rest of the season will have
@@plugshirt1762 I mean it's fair if you think a 10/10 has to be perfect, but for me a 10/10 is more like... a story that has a lot of meaning to you, that impacts you in a way few stories can. Tbh I don't think any story can be perfect, there will always be some aspects that don't quite work, some parts that are less than ideal. I also agree that mob can have a slow start, I honestly didn't really like the show until episode 5 of season 1 but I kind of appreciate the slow burn. It took me longer to get invested in the story but it gets to me in a way very few shows can claim to so I guess I just give it the benefit of the doubt and see it as a 10/10 even though I know it isn't 100% perfect.
@@royami8627 for me something doesn’t have to be perfect to be a 10/10 but it has not have any major issues with it that lessen the experience as a whole. As far as my enjoyment of the show went I would give it a 10/10 but from a qualitative standing I feel it just misses the mark. I enjoyed the start of season 1 a lot more than the start of the other two seasons as it feels more as if it establishing things going forward.
im glad more people like mob psycho. it kind of saddened me that half of the people are only watching for the fights and are completely ignoring the point of the anime.
Those are the same sort of people who absolutely despised the genius that is 1000% Reigen sequence, because they wanted the show to take the immature route of Mob going apeshit on the Scar members.
Season one actually hit me hard. Watching mob get overwhelmed as a kid who was trying his best resonated with me. And to see Ragen take the burden from Mob, and tell Mob that it was ok to run away, was just incredibly touching. Because Ragen had no real way to actually protect Mob, but knew that as the grown up, even if he didn't have the means, that he should do so. And to have that exchange, where Ragen could have literally died, all so Mob could escape, was insane. How many other anime are their, with people who are teens, where they have to do that dangerous and scary thing, even though there are adults around? Season one was a kid, desperately trying to be normal, while also being forced into situations that were too much for a kid to handle. And the end was an adult saying that it was ok to be afraid. It hit me, since like Mob, I struggled with very adult issues, from a very young age. I was forced into hiding my emotions til the bottle burst, self isolating until I was socially awkward, and often couldn't really handle what was happening. Which is why the ending got me, and I sobbed for it. Cause all I wanted was for someone to help, and tell me it was ok to be scared, or angry, or confused. The message just hit home hard. And when Season 2 came out, I found it to be a perfect continuation of that message. It is ok to be scared, but you will have to learn to face those fears to grow. Also, I do want to watch Season 3, but am not sure I want to support a studio who got rid of the dubbed actors due to them getting unionized.

I can't describe in words how much I love the artsyle and anime, going by the interviews from the art directors for the anime, despite it seeming so simple, they put so much thought into how they'd adapt it, and even admitted it was quite hard recreating ONES unique style. (Plus even the animators find Reigen hot, god the things they say about him)
Sometimes they'd even scan pencil drawn stills in from the storyboards and add them into scenes. The amount of different media that was used in the anime alone is sooo cool

Reigen's loneliness episode and when Mob said that Reigen is a good guy is the one that get me "Yup, this is it", the characters when from just a character in anime to feel like an actual person with real life struggles that I kinda relate to and I just wanted to hug them you know :')
Episode 7 is THE conclusion of a great story build up for the Reigen-Shigeo relationship. Who is Reigen for Mob? To reach that kind of emotion, one must not simply disregard the episodes that make the EP 7 great. I promise you, if you show only show that episode 7 only to a person who didn't watch MPP100, they will conclude "eh? That's the best episode?" It doesnt have that kind of emotional build up, people should invest emotionaly to character. For me, episode 7 had the quality of a season ender episode.

Mob psycho put a missing piece back into my heart. That sounds very cliche but it truly teaches you lessons you never expected to learn from an anime. When Reigen said “it’s okay to run away”, I cried like a baby
This anime is so GOOD it firmly has my heart. I feel foolish for taking so long to watch it because of my past prejudice, it was a similar thing with JJBA which I watched 2 years and a half ago because I was a dumbass who couldn't get into it and it still stands as my favorites anime and manga ever. Mob Psycho 100 is so charming.
I was one of those people, who watched Mob Psycho right after it came out. I watched it. It was nice. But then I just forgot about it. And only after so many years, when the 3rd season was announced - I rewatched it And my mind was blown The characters, the music, the animation.. I didn't appreciate it all back then when I watched it for the first time. It's just that.. It was a wrong timing Now that I am much older I can fully relate to the struggles of the characters (Reigen especially) And I can finally see how great-written this show is. Truly inspiring
I'm shocked that people even had the thought of dropping this series cross their minds but then again, I had no prior knowledge regarding it and I was able to enjoy it as it was.
I finished MP about 30 minutes ago, and I miss Mob already :( I cried so much from every heartfelt seen that I got a headache. S2 finale arc, S3 ep 7, s3 psycho helmet arc, and the series finale genuinely made me scream and cry. Thanks pep for getting me to watch this amazing anime :)
Just like you say, art is often used to express emotions, and personally I think that Ranking of Kings takes that to another level. While the mc is deaf, can't speak, and also to add more, he's really weak, like literally. But seeing his facial expressions and all his yells, I really felt all that he was feeling. Honestly I cried very often watching the series. This is the first time I’m hearing that people only watched season 1 of Mob Psycho 100. When season 2 came out it was very hyped and it brought ton of fans to watch season 1 of Mob Psycho 100 to get to season 2. Also created lots of interest for season 3. I guess the main problem was the long wait to get another season.
Mob Psycho was good from the start. All you needed to see that was already in S1, but it's just, sometimes, you come to a new story biased or with different/too much expectations, which is perfectly understandable. Glad you enjoyed it.
As a fan of both s1 and s2 I could see why a lot of people dropped after s1. I personally could stay because I was a manga reader, so I had this 'IT GETS BETTER!!' in my mind lol.
Funny. I drop the S2 show, and I continue to read in manga. Recently, I finally watch it, and I realize that S2 meant for adult me as how S1 touched me as a teen.

speaking of the art, the first time i checked the manga out, i was quite shocked, it's what people would call ugly and goofy, but it grew on me, they look so silly and i love the characters so much, i ended up watching mob pyscho after finishing one punch man, and like you said, i kinda got bored and dropped after the first episode but after a couple of months, i decided go continue it and rly felt like a clown this show is a perfect mix of angsty, comedic and seriousness. if only i somehow got the opportunity to re-watch mob psycho without knowing anything about the show again, i would

with the most recent episode of mob season 3, i can tell you mob psycho is one of the best, if not the best, animes i have ever seen. I love the animation, story buildup and characters man its just so amazing last episode was crazy but unexpected tbh
Mob Psycho 100 season 3 episode 6 have been the peak for character development and the best character conclusion that I have seen in a long time, ONE has a very good hand for writing characters
I am watching season two at the moment and I absolutely adore it. It's such a simple concept, however it's quite deep. It can be light hearted, can have some dark moments. Each character is so rich with personality and style. It's incredibly wholesome to watch them all, grow and support each other. Yeah, the psychic power thing is cool, however watching everyone overcome personal battles, together is just, it just gets me in the heart. I think a lot of people will be able to relate. All the while, held up by the art style and music. This show has everything!

There are many scenes in Mob that make me tear up. Even the intro music which is meant to get you hyped has so much emption behind them. But after rewatching the whole show it was actually S2 Ep1 that hit me the hardest, given the context of everything surrounding it.
The first time i experienced S2xEP7... i cried my eyes out a LOT... And all the times i rewatched after that. And i know that if i rewatch it again, i'll still cry. This story is just beautiful.
I'm so glad to see that this anime is getting a bit more attention, I am absolutely in love with the artstyle and the different art mediums they are using! The simple art style gives so much oppertunity for absolute crazy animation and the lessons really did change my life for the better. It made me learn that I do have value, even if it's hard to find. Kageyama's journey also hits really close home. I struggle with communicating and get anxious really fast, and I'm also horrible in gym and have zero stamina. But seeing his journey and him struggling but still standing up and keep going is inspirational. It's an amazing show and I'm so glad I've discovered it.
I had been rewatching season 1+2 religiously before season 3 started. Now I'm collecting the manga book series too. Mob Psycho 100 will always have a special place in my heart.
I watched about 3 episodes of Mob Psycho once and then dropped it because I didn't really get into it that much, but when I started watching it again a week or two ago I binged the entire show in about 3 days because it was just so, so lovely. Mob's struggle with his identity really speaks to me and this show basically became a source of comfort. I think the problem with most other forms of media is that they don't really touch on the smaller details of human flaws and so fail to make a big enough of an emotional impact on the viewer, but Mob Psycho beautifully achieves everything it set out to achieve. That, combined with the art style, the absolute love the creators poured into their work and the SPECTACULAR plot makes this just about one of the best pieces of media created.
The anime made me read the manga and actually I enjoyed ONE's art very much. A reason the animation looks amazing might be because of the simple artstyle which allows for more creative experiments, and so it's fluid in its execution. The story is different from the typical shonen we've seen with much fights is not more than they have plot, and it might have contributed to less audience than OPM etc, but nonetheless it's amongst the favourites of its fan. PS Reigen is top daddy material
I always thought that MP100 should be "a slice of life, with a side of Shonen" in that Shonen is typically building up one boss battle to the next until the last big boss, but in MP100 you are really just watching a kid go through life and the people around. Mob is not on a adventure/ journey to reach a certain goal, he just wants to live a normal life.
I jumped into Mob Psycho kinda late.. I’d say around 2019. Both seasons were already out at this point. I remember I had just finished watching Cowboy Bebop a few months prior, and I was wandering aimlessly for a new anime to watch. When I came across mob psycho, I had 100% pure, unadulterated zero expectation for what I was about to jump into, and THAT’S the reason why I fell in love with it so naturally and quickly after the first few episodes of season 1. Granted, I had watched OPM before I even watched mob psycho, but it was once I found out that both shows were created by the same artist, that I KNEW I had to watch mob now. I’m so glad I did. I was hooked immediately. I just finished the season 3 finale a month ago and although I’m sad it’s over forever, I’m glad I can still go back and rewatch it.
Especially with the way they express the ghosts and effects, such a heavy emphasis on helping the viewers understand what it feels emotionally, rather than representing them as realistically as possible (which seems to be the trend these days)
I had no idea of what mp100 was aside from it being from the opm author. I loved it, and s2 was when I was like... this show hits way too close to home. It is my favorite series, not just anime, but of all time.
I wasn't quite sure what to think when I started watching Mob Psycho shortly after the second season came out. But I'm someone who will drop shows for no reason if they're just not doing it for me after the three episode rule, and something about it made me stay. By the end of the first season, I knew it'd be somewhere on my list. By the end of the second, it had completely taken permanent residence in a corner of my heart and it's been there ever since. It's one of the few shows that gets better with every rewatch. There are a lot of well-written characters and gorgeous animation cuts that you miss the first time around because you're just trying to focus on the main story. Rewatching it also lets you see all the parallels and experience the characters with full context for who they are. There are so many good things about it that I can (and have) used to try and sell it to other people: the music, the art, the characters, the parallels in the writing. I still feel like the best thing about it, though, is the way they all work together to have an effect on you. And maybe it doesn't do that for everyone? I don't know. But you won't know til you watch it for yourself. I love Mob Psycho with my whole heart.
i still can't get over season's 1 moment "mob suddenly realised that he had an emotion he could not take over...sadness" (never watched the damn thing in english so im just throwing what i think it said in english , i could be wrong). This is when he fights the blonde guy and gets him bald , notices how despite him trying to keep his cool in the end he screwed up anyways and got frustrated at the end.
What you said... when creative meeting was taking place, someone threw a crazy idea and the team said why the fuck not - is exactly why I have been steadily shifting from traditional western animation, shows and comics to manga, anime and even k dramas. it all feels fresh, like nobody has this ridgit system of believes that every story should have that, and every show should have this... western media is on an edge of creative bankrupcy, there are occassional exceptions but it feels like it happens only because the industry is just so enourmous, not because is is a trend.
Man I had the exact same thought, the writer simply just understands the human experience and how to depict it in a pure but entertaining way. As much the art is great, the funny parts are good, the great fight scenes and build ups. The message in the different episodes really make you think. It is probably an anime that can actually make a person change their life in a positive way if they really take in what's being depicted.
It's also an amazing dub... very very rarely do i choose to watch the dub over the original... but it's so well acted and the voices for to perfection...especially Mob and Reigen
the story is simple but executed very well, every character in this anime is very well developed, and the comedy is truly a masterpiece especially when the comedy comes from the character of Reigen

Mob Psycho is defnitely one of those animes that ages like fine wine as you watch the episodes. Sure, its not the mainstream art style, a thing that I admit also had hard time adjusting at first, but its will grow on you and get to see it for the gem it actually is.
I had the same arc as this. Completely skipped it, didn't look like something I'd enjoy. But after finally binging the first two seasons and catching up to the third. I was blown away by the creativity on constant display. I *love* that the show isn't afraid of looking "ugly" and weird. And it completely embraces that weird with sincerity.
Such an amazing show. Story + amazing fights? Its all I can ask for. Glad its actually a full story thats actually ending, and I'm really excited for what's gonna happen next.

At the beginning the art style switched up and it threw me off so bad that i dropped it. Picked it back up in April and it was great. Definitely top 10 in my list

And then got surprised on how well the storyline and plot was, the characters made me love them at just first glance 🧑🦲
I mean, these are anime fans at the end of the day.
Season one actually hit me hard. Watching mob get overwhelmed as a kid who was trying his best resonated with me. And to see Ragen take the burden from Mob, and tell Mob that it was ok to run away, was just incredibly touching. Because Ragen had no real way to actually protect Mob, but knew that as the grown up, even if he didn't have the means, that he should do so. And to have that exchange, where Ragen could have literally died, all so Mob could escape, was insane. How many other anime are their, with people who are teens, where they have to do that dangerous and scary thing, even though there are adults around? Season one was a kid, desperately trying to be normal, while also being forced into situations that were too much for a kid to handle. And the end was an adult saying that it was ok to be afraid. It hit me, since like Mob, I struggled with very adult issues, from a very young age. I was forced into hiding my emotions til the bottle burst, self isolating until I was socially awkward, and often couldn't really handle what was happening. Which is why the ending got me, and I sobbed for it. Cause all I wanted was for someone to help, and tell me it was ok to be scared, or angry, or confused. The message just hit home hard. And when Season 2 came out, I found it to be a perfect continuation of that message. It is ok to be scared, but you will have to learn to face those fears to grow.
Also, I do want to watch Season 3, but am not sure I want to support a studio who got rid of the dubbed actors due to them getting unionized.
Just watch it subbed instead of dubbed.

I can't describe in words how much I love the artsyle and anime, going by the interviews from the art directors for the anime, despite it seeming so simple, they put so much thought into how they'd adapt it, and even admitted it was quite hard recreating ONES unique style. (Plus even the animators find Reigen hot, god the things they say about him)
Sometimes they'd even scan pencil drawn stills in from the storyboards and add them into scenes. The amount of different media that was used in the anime alone is sooo cool

Reigen's loneliness episode and when Mob said that Reigen is a good guy is the one that get me "Yup, this is it", the characters when from just a character in anime to feel like an actual person with real life struggles that I kinda relate to and I just wanted to hug them you know :')

Episode 7 is THE conclusion of a great story build up for the Reigen-Shigeo relationship. Who is Reigen for Mob?
To reach that kind of emotion, one must not simply disregard the episodes that make the EP 7 great. I promise you, if you show only show that episode 7 only to a person who didn't watch MPP100, they will conclude "eh? That's the best episode?" It doesnt have that kind of emotional build up, people should invest emotionaly to character. For me, episode 7 had the quality of a season ender episode.

This anime is so GOOD it firmly has my heart. I feel foolish for taking so long to watch it because of my past prejudice, it was a similar thing with JJBA which I watched 2 years and a half ago because I was a dumbass who couldn't get into it and it still stands as my favorites anime and manga ever. Mob Psycho 100 is so charming.
I was one of those people, who watched Mob Psycho right after it came out.

The characters, the music, the animation..
I didn't appreciate it all back then when I watched it for the first time.
It's just that.. It was a wrong timing
Now that I am much older I can fully relate to the struggles of the characters (Reigen especially)
And I can finally see how great-written this show is.

The art style did turn me away at first, but I'm so glad I went back and watched it. Easily one of my favorite anime.
I finished MP about 30 minutes ago, and I miss Mob already :( I cried so much from every heartfelt seen that I got a headache. S2 finale arc, S3 ep 7, s3 psycho helmet arc, and the series finale genuinely made me scream and cry. Thanks pep for getting me to watch this amazing anime :)

Just like you say, art is often used to express emotions, and personally I think that Ranking of Kings takes that to another level. While the mc is deaf, can't speak, and also to add more, he's really weak, like literally. But seeing his facial expressions and all his yells, I really felt all that he was feeling. Honestly I cried very often watching the series.

I honestly think that Mob Psycho 100 is the best anime to ever exist, and thus massively underappreciated.
This is the first time I’m hearing that people only watched season 1 of Mob Psycho 100. When season 2 came out it was very hyped and it brought ton of fans to watch season 1 of Mob Psycho 100 to get to season 2. Also created lots of interest for season 3.
I guess the main problem was the long wait to get another season.
Mob Psycho's art just makes me feel like someone drew their fever dream, and I love it.
Mob Psycho was good from the start. All you needed to see that was already in S1, but it's just, sometimes, you come to a new story biased or with different/too much expectations, which is perfectly understandable.

As a fan of both s1 and s2 I could see why a lot of people dropped after s1. I personally could stay because I was a manga reader, so I had this 'IT GETS BETTER!!' in my mind lol.

The 2nd season was my favourite, the Opening and Ending was awesome, and Reigen's character development got me rollin
speaking of the art, the first time i checked the manga out, i was quite shocked, it's what people would call ugly and goofy, but it grew on me, they look so silly and i love the characters so much, i ended up watching mob pyscho after finishing one punch man, and like you said, i kinda got bored and dropped after the first episode but after a couple of months, i decided go continue it and rly felt like a clown

My favorite characterization someone made was for Hanazawa. They summed up his character growth as, "Huh, I'm just a dickhead with powers"

Mob Psycho 100 season 3 episode 6 have been the peak for character development and the best character conclusion that I have seen in a long time, ONE has a very good hand for writing characters

I am watching season two at the moment and I absolutely adore it. It's such a simple concept, however it's quite deep. It can be light hearted, can have some dark moments. Each character is so rich with personality and style. It's incredibly wholesome to watch them all, grow and support each other. Yeah, the psychic power thing is cool, however watching everyone overcome personal battles, together is just, it just gets me in the heart. I think a lot of people will be able to relate. All the while, held up by the art style and music. This show has everything!

There are many scenes in Mob that make me tear up. Even the intro music which is meant to get you hyped has so much emption behind them. But after rewatching the whole show it was actually S2 Ep1 that hit me the hardest, given the context of everything surrounding it.
The first time i experienced S2xEP7... i cried my eyes out a LOT...
And all the times i rewatched after that. And i know that if i rewatch it again, i'll still cry. This story is just beautiful.

I'm so glad to see that this anime is getting a bit more attention, I am absolutely in love with the artstyle and the different art mediums they are using! The simple art style gives so much oppertunity for absolute crazy animation and the lessons really did change my life for the better. It made me learn that I do have value, even if it's hard to find. Kageyama's journey also hits really close home. I struggle with communicating and get anxious really fast, and I'm also horrible in gym and have zero stamina. But seeing his journey and him struggling but still standing up and keep going is inspirational. It's an amazing show and I'm so glad I've discovered it.
I had been rewatching season 1+2 religiously before season 3 started. Now I'm collecting the manga book series too. Mob Psycho 100 will always have a special place in my heart.
There is this one episode in season 3 that made me cry

I watched about 3 episodes of Mob Psycho once and then dropped it because I didn't really get into it that much, but when I started watching it again a week or two ago I binged the entire show in about 3 days because it was just so, so lovely. Mob's struggle with his identity really speaks to me and this show basically became a source of comfort. I think the problem with most other forms of media is that they don't really touch on the smaller details of human flaws and so fail to make a big enough of an emotional impact on the viewer, but Mob Psycho beautifully achieves everything it set out to achieve. That, combined with the art style, the absolute love the creators poured into their work and the SPECTACULAR plot makes this just about one of the best pieces of media created.

bruh this channel is underrated
The anime made me read the manga and actually I enjoyed ONE's art very much. A reason the animation looks amazing might be because of the simple artstyle which allows for more creative experiments, and so it's fluid in its execution. The story is different from the typical shonen we've seen with much fights is not more than they have plot, and it might have contributed to less audience than OPM etc, but nonetheless it's amongst the favourites of its fan.
PS Reigen is top daddy material
I always thought that MP100 should be "a slice of life, with a side of Shonen"
in that Shonen is typically building up one boss battle to the next until the last big boss, but in MP100 you are really just watching a kid go through life and the people around. Mob is not on a adventure/ journey to reach a certain goal, he just wants to live a normal life.
I jumped into Mob Psycho kinda late.. I’d say around 2019. Both seasons were already out at this point. I remember I had just finished watching Cowboy Bebop a few months prior, and I was wandering aimlessly for a new anime to watch.
When I came across mob psycho, I had 100% pure, unadulterated zero expectation for what I was about to jump into, and THAT’S the reason why I fell in love with it so naturally and quickly after the first few episodes of season 1. Granted, I had watched OPM before I even watched mob psycho, but it was once I found out that both shows were created by the same artist, that I KNEW I had to watch mob now.
I’m so glad I did. I was hooked immediately. I just finished the season 3 finale a month ago and although I’m sad it’s over forever, I’m glad I can still go back and rewatch it.
Season 1-3 made me question my life's decisions because of its lessons lmfao. Such a great show.

Especially with the way they express the ghosts and effects, such a heavy emphasis on helping the viewers understand what it feels emotionally, rather than representing them as realistically as possible (which seems to be the trend these days)
When you are tired of anime tropes Mob is a breath of fresh air.
I had no idea of what mp100 was aside from it being from the opm author. I loved it, and s2 was when I was like... this show hits way too close to home. It is my favorite series, not just anime, but of all time.

I wasn't quite sure what to think when I started watching Mob Psycho shortly after the second season came out. But I'm someone who will drop shows for no reason if they're just not doing it for me after the three episode rule, and something about it made me stay. By the end of the first season, I knew it'd be somewhere on my list. By the end of the second, it had completely taken permanent residence in a corner of my heart and it's been there ever since.
It's one of the few shows that gets better with every rewatch. There are a lot of well-written characters and gorgeous animation cuts that you miss the first time around because you're just trying to focus on the main story. Rewatching it also lets you see all the parallels and experience the characters with full context for who they are.
There are so many good things about it that I can (and have) used to try and sell it to other people: the music, the art, the characters, the parallels in the writing. I still feel like the best thing about it, though, is the way they all work together to have an effect on you. And maybe it doesn't do that for everyone? I don't know. But you won't know til you watch it for yourself. I love Mob Psycho with my whole heart.

i still can't get over season's 1 moment "mob suddenly realised that he had an emotion he could not take over...sadness" (never watched the damn thing in english so im just throwing what i think it said in english , i could be wrong).
This is when he fights the blonde guy and gets him bald , notices how despite him trying to keep his cool in the end he screwed up anyways and got frustrated at the end.
What you said... when creative meeting was taking place, someone threw a crazy idea and the team said why the fuck not - is exactly why I have been steadily shifting from traditional western animation, shows and comics to manga, anime and even k dramas. it all feels fresh, like nobody has this ridgit system of believes that every story should have that, and every show should have this... western media is on an edge of creative bankrupcy, there are occassional exceptions but it feels like it happens only because the industry is just so enourmous, not because is is a trend.
Man I had the exact same thought, the writer simply just understands the human experience and how to depict it in a pure but entertaining way.
As much the art is great, the funny parts are good, the great fight scenes and build ups. The message in the different episodes really make you think. It is probably an anime that can actually make a person change their life in a positive way if they really take in what's being depicted.

Mob Psycho is defnitely one of those animes that ages like fine wine as you watch the episodes. Sure, its not the mainstream art style, a thing that I admit also had hard time adjusting at first, but its will grow on you and get to see it for the gem it actually is.
I had the same arc as this. Completely skipped it, didn't look like something I'd enjoy. But after finally binging the first two seasons and catching up to the third. I was blown away by the creativity on constant display. I *love* that the show isn't afraid of looking "ugly" and weird. And it completely embraces that weird with sincerity.
