- The books include An Imaginary Tale: The Story of i [the square root of minus one]; Chases and Escapes: The Mathematics of Pursuit and Evasion; Digital Dice: Computational Solutions to Practical Probability Problems; Dr. Euler's Fabulous Formula: Cures Many Mathematical Ills; Duelling Idiots and Other Probability Puzzlers; Mrs. Perkins's Electric Quilt: And Other Intriguing Stories of Mathematical Physics; When Least Is Best: How Mathematicians Discovered Many Clever Ways to Make Things as Small (or as Large) as Possible.
I love Nahin's books. They put all the mathematics I've learned in a new and interesting light. He must have been fun to have as a professor.
Thank you so much for writing good book prof.
I am LOVING the Logician and the Engineer! What a great writer! A treasure.
Thank you Prof. Nahin. I have all your books and they are absolutely fascinating. Particularly awesome are Dr. Euler's Formula and Inside Interesting Integrals.
Just picked up Dr. Euler's Fabulous Formula and I am loving it!
Wishing him good health !
Just finished your book "An Imaginary Tale : The Story of √(-1)" , a wonderful book and I have a very good read of it. It gives me a little more understanding of what is i, especially the boxed equation on page 53. Thank you professor.
They are all fantastic books that gave me the confidence to further study math, physics , and engineering. Thanks professor Nahin!
Thanks for writing these books professor. They are really interesting.
awesome video
Inspiring! Love your books sir.
I LOVE ALL YOUR BOOKS!! Fascinating, well-written, fun, great!!
Dear Professor, I love your books, i have almost all your books and just finished 'An Imaginary Tale', a really amazing book. Currently i am reading 'In Praise of Simple Physics', also an amazing book. The only point of criticism I have, is that in your books you use the English units like feet and pounds which makes it sometimes difficult for us European readers who are used to the metric units of the mks system. But other than this, they are all fantastic books.
I have his new book about Zeta-3. I want to share with him some things that I know about zeta-3 that no one has ever known. I've emailed Dr. Nahin, but no reply so far.
In the meantime, my quest to find a closed form for Zeta-3 continues!
this dude writes interesting books
Great video. Professor Nahin, I have "An Imaginary Tale", and "The Science of Radio". Both are marvelous. And both reward the work that one puts into them. (I am about halfway through the first, and 75% thru the second. :-)) I would like to get your book on Heaviside, next. Thanks for your genuinely informative writing style.
I love how he dedicated all of his books to his wife and his cats...
I am a big fan of the books Inside Interesting Integrals, Duelling Idiots, Mrs Perkins's Electric Quilt and In Praise of Simple Physics. It is like reading poetry.
enjoy your book 'the story of i'
Way late, but here goes. “The Final Theory: Rethinking Our Scientific Legacy “,Mark McCutcheon for physics and electricity. Having recently read “Hot Molecules......” seeing electricity is not yet understood. I see he doesn’t read comments. Will seek a more current content.
For demonstrate, that the formula worked,
Heron used a false value:
if c=15 with a=28 and b=4
The result is INCONGRUENT.
therefore, with that values There is not,
a truncated pyramid.
And therefore, it was NOT correct
to express it, much less, represent it,
that would be completely:
FALSE and INCONGRUENT.
The same consideration, for Diophantus.
They were Mathematicians, they did NOT
accept algebrics tricks.
Therefore, they didn't "overlooked" that tale.
And now, there are no more Mathematicians,
only "ixist" the mathemagicians.
