And so am I. And I'm quite pleased by this take on it, which I find much more believable then anything I've seen before. Big kudos to the director here.
I want to see the next bit! He keeps going off at her for a few more minutes after this! This is such a powerful scene to watch Lord Capulet absolutely lose it. It’s always interesting watching the reactions of Lady Capulet and the Nurse because they give us a sense of whether it’s “normal” for him to go off like this.
That obnoxious and sudden “YOU!” Scared me! He went from a place of calm craziness to outright rage. Incredible. My view is that this adaptation shows the unstableness of the patriarchal society in the Victorian Era. Clearly the father is the representation and Juliet is the early feminist movement or the revolution against this movement. That is a very cool take on this timeless classic!
There is at least a 90% chance that you are here because of an English assignment, and you are not necessarily watching this for your own entertainment, but to juxtapose this performance to the writing in the play.
Not only am I here for english homework, but I have to play Lord Capulet in this scene for our upcoming schools production of Romeo and Juliet, so I gotta get some inspiration apparently
*Breaths* BOI the play is "a horror story for the parents of teenagers" and "all the characters act like idiots." The plot is "boring," "incredibly unrealistic," and "not a love story," Romeo is "a fickle crybaby" and Juliet is naive, too young, and "way too anxious to take her panties off." Modern readers are furious that these teenagers fall in love so quickly, furious that Romeo liked another girl before Juliet, and furious that the kids disobey their families in order to be together after meeting just once. The word "emo" is frequently employed. Samuel Pepys wrote that "it is a play of itself the worst that I ever heard in my life," way back in 1662. And yet, Romeo and Juliet remains one of the most popular plays of all time. It rivals Hamlet for Shakespeare's most performed piece of writing. It's frequently studied in schools, adapted into movies, musicals, and tweets, and read by teens and non-teens alike all over the world.
When the English teacher assigns this vid

Wow, this unique adaptation is amazingly done. I'm rewatching this for taking notes of composition for drama. Thanks!
