No problem, I was going to make the spindle liner out of 6061 at first but this cost me under $20 for 8 feet of 2" UHMW and I wanted to try Machining the stuff as I heard it sucks
Gonna have to to give that a try. You would be surprised how much a 1 1/4 inch stainless bar can flop around. Did you weld chips to that carbide drill? Lye and some water will eat that off without hurting the carbide.
Yeah, I am still learning the limits of carbide drills. I just saw your video on doing the Lye thing yesterday but I had already left the chip welded drill in sulfuric acid for a day and it did the trick too. I did leave an interesting blueish oxide on the drill... it locked pretty cool
I used to run an SL-20. I used alu tube and put rings around to OD to make it match the spindle bore
@@paulnorman6061 cheaper and probably better than the overpriced ones Haas sells, nice
Cool video. Are these liners to stop the stock whipping in the spndle?
yeah... I was turning some 12mm Rod and was getting chatter as the bar flexed in the spindle tube and this quick plastic liner solve that problem
Oh man I'm definitely going to do this whenever I need a new spindle liner! Thanks for sharing!

I love that intro haha. I 3d printed spindel linerz
did you really? lol, cool. I really do need to try to use my 3d printer more
I 3D print mine as well. PETG with 25% infill. set the 5+ up and let it run a full set all at once. LOVED your video. cheers
