I am from Papua New Guinea. Just few days ago Blinken signed the a defence agreement act ith the PNG government. The PNG parliament and the people knew nothing about the details of the pact. It smelled like a fishy deal. If the US respects Pacific island nations as he has mentioned during question time, then they should have been transparent about the deal. A leaked document containing some of the points of that agreement went viral as well. If the contents of the leaked document are true, then the US does not care about the sovereignty of the island nations. They don't care about their laws, customs and traditions. No other country can go into the US and do what they will be allowed to do in PNG. It was indeed a shameful and disgraceful agreement rushed in the wake of Chinese dominance and influence in the Pacific. I hope our government will review and revoke it.
