I consider Central Pattaya as the "short-term" vacation place to stay that never sleeps. Jomtien or "The Dark Side" is the "long-term" places to live. Cheaper, quieter, and definitely more laid back.
The Sarita is where I stayed at my 2nd trip to Thailand back in 2007. We would grab a baht bus and head to Pattaya each time, but knowing nothing, we'd ask the baht bus driver how much was it to get to Pattaya..."200 baht" or "300baht" they'd tell us. We'd negotiate down to 100baht and thought we were such amazing travelers. Then one random time, a French guy saw us do the negotiation and told us its 10baht. We still laugh about that one. Nothing like being a total noob and getting taken for a ride. Sometimes ya gotta learn things the hard way 555
Wow that apartment is crazy cheap but of course there is no kitchen. That was one hell of a burrito you had there!!! Thanks again. Stay safe. From the US
i Order from 3B's too on Grab, the first time I ordered from them they gave me a second quesedilla for free, and since I've been a returning customer. Their chicken nachos are terrific too.

Another great report. I have not stayed in Jomtien however will give it a good look when I can get their. The price is low compared to condos in central Patts. Good for a stay of 3 months.
Your channel is quickly becoming my favorite. I was highly recommended the Jomtien area. That Mexican restaurant had a Danish flag in front. 'Like' all your videos and already a subscriber.

Bit too quiet for me JomTien but it's a nice area remember renting a big villa there once for a few days big place great party there and had its own private beach pretty much wasn't expensive at all. Hey your friends place looked very good value what's that £120 a month maybe £150 with utilities that's very inexpensive for a location so close to the beach if your looking for a place to use as a base then do a few nights away too. Might work. Good info as always R4K thumbs up from UK 🇬🇧👍🏻
great to see very basic accommodation that a lot of people can afford and add their on personal touches. you can use this accom as a base if you want to find other accom and not break the bank. thanks more of this type of accommodation please, thanks
This was kinda on the same level of what I kinda had. Except, my place was close to the train station. I had a large studio size apartment with 3 other rooms. My rent was $165.00 and one room was for my washing machine and refrigerator and then a other room for storage.
5,000 is good for that room. I often think about renting one like that out for a year and make it my holiday "home". But, 4th floor, no lift and can't roll my motorcycle inside when I'm away is a non starter for me. Those PCX and Forza's are beautiful but just too big to be riding around town IMO. If you have to cruise some distance daily...good choices. I'll Take one of those used Honda MSX in the background and put a 57mm (simple) to 62mm (more complex) bore kit on it and make it a hot little number to buzz around town with. Thanks again for an entertaining and informative Vid R4K.
I find Jomtien quite relaxed and a good long-term vibe. If going to Central by baht bus say five times a week at 20b, that'll add up. Furniture is uninspiring and needs a wardrobe. Big size though. Landlady seems very decent and no gouging utilities.
Thanks for your good job. It would be appreciate if u could show some small family house a little bit outside city. Even if already here is "better"than Pattaya. Hey Loucous, just came across this. I remember when you stopped in, but completely forgot about it until someone just sent me the link. That already seems like a million years ago lol
I thought everything was CHEAPER in THAILAND, I can get cheaper MEXICAN food just about anywhere here in SOUTHERN CAL😕 $10 for Mexican fries???😲 Also the SALSA and sour cream usually goes inside the BURRITO🤭 I'm surprised U didn't mention those HIGH prices, or maybe those prices are common there when it comes to NON-THAI food🤔
When travel will be possible again, I plan on taking a long trip. With all the unused vacation days and overtime... I'm thinking about 1 month in Thailand. What would you recommend? Staying in a Hotel or renting a condo for a month (Airbnb?!?)
I would definitely go for hotel. I think you'll find the daily maid service with clean towels etc., a great benefit. They also will have nice amenities like pools, sauna etc. After all, you are on vacation, you shouldn't have to worry about details. Also more flexibility if you want to move to a different place, you will most definitely see some place that looks interesting that you may want to try out.
Hey Lucas, prices are great now and I could easily afford the rent, but what were the rents pre-covid? No point moving to Pattaya if i cannot afford to live there in normal times...
You could almost confuse the two, he and jc retirecheap asia, they kind of look the same, speak passable thai, and went looking for a rental in jomtiem except 9 years ago for jc. Trying to retrace my steps looking for jc is how I found Lucas.
The last time I stayed in Jomtien I was walking up and down the promenade for exercise and stepped over a dog which was in my way and it bit me on the backside luckily it didn't break the skin as I was wearing a thick pair of shorts they were the days I hope they come back soon.
jotiem definitely seems better for quiter stay ... barrito looks better than the one from chipotle! is tipping expected in "normal" restaurants ? If so, what % should it be ? how about he " fancier" restaurants?
Yeah, tipping is probably expected at western restaurants which foreigners frequent. But it is usually just the coins left in the change, maybe about 20 baht. Not really a percentage like in other places.
Even when the prices creep back upwards for the condos/apartments, I'd rather pay a little extra for the creature comforts. It looks good for a short term stay I guess, since you'll either be "sleeping" or out for your whole trip. But then again, I guess you would want to be closer to the action for that trip. No way that I would stay there for a few months. And judging by the look on Lucas' face while looking for the positives, I doubt he would ever consider such a room also lol
It would be good for you to do a show on Internet. I work online and need high speed quality internet. would be good if you did a review of the different internet offered for condos or apartments. I'm thinking about moving to thailand and I'm curious to the quality and the cost of internet services.
Yes but it depends, not all the services are available everywhere. Most condo buildings only allow one service provider for the building so you often don't have a real choice.
Great vlog, R4K, you seem to never run out of interesting topics. Jomtien is defo an option for me when I retire in 10-12 years. If the world stays the same as pre covid that is of course.
So Lucas, 5,000 for the room, what does the 5 baht per unit for electric equate to per month? The food at the 3 Bzzz looks delicious. Do you know if the Blue Parrot bar on Pattayaland soi 2 is still there? They do good Mexican food too.
So with a 5 baht per month electric, you are probably looking at maybe 120 units per month so 600ish baht maybe, about 20-25 bucks but that will depend greatly on your AC usage, it could be far more.
That's the ideal price range for me if I was visiting Thailand for a 3-month stay. That way, I can use the location as home base while I move around the region to determine if and where I wanna permanently relocate. Agreed. Living in that place would be worse than being homeless on the beach!
love the property vlogs
It would be good for you to do a show on Internet. I work online and need high speed quality internet. would be good if you did a review of the different internet offered for condos or apartments.
I'm thinking about moving to thailand and I'm curious to the quality and the cost of internet services.
Yes but it depends, not all the services are available everywhere. Most condo buildings only allow one service provider for the building so you often don't have a real choice.
Do you think that apartment would be specially hot being on the fourth floor
5000bht per month is cool price for that much room. 👍
Yes for sure
Lou did I miss something on the Condo section? What is the Bathroom situation?
It's basic....at 4.47...
@@billybob7522 Thanks.... LMAO it was so basic I missed it ...
Great vlog, R4K, you seem to never run out of interesting topics. Jomtien is defo an option for me when I retire in 10-12 years. If the world stays the same as pre covid that is of course.
Lets hope it's all back to normal by then, There will probably be many more options even by that time 👍
@@Rides4Kickz i really hope so, Jomtien looks like a retirement paradise to me.
@@Rides4Kickz Thanks for doing the math for me Lucas.🙏
