    I have a haar strat which I ordered from Erik. Took him 4 months to build. I've played guitars ranging from 100 euros to 4000 euros. I am afraid I haven't gone more than that. Haven't played any vintage instruments either. But from all the guitars I've played the haar is the best one for me.

    Best review ever! The unplugged comparison was really cool. It was clear the Haar had more resonance and "harmonic" vibrations.
    I am looking for a strat, and i was comparing Haar and Maybach. Maybachs have an awesome reputation for les paul type guitars, but their strats look a bit dull to me. Too basic. They sound awesome to my ears but the Haars have that something special, that puts them to a closer level to custom shop fenders IMO.

    Your guitar playing is superb and all three sounded great in your hands. The final piece with the Haar was outstanding and I respect your choice. However, for me, the Fender was the one for me. Neither of us is is wrong, but diversity is a great thing, and long may we continue to like different tones, whilst enjoying the same music. All in all a great video, on many levels, and thank you for that.

    I didn’t expect this but the Maybach tone has more body than the fender. This is obvious in the lead tone.

      Yes, both the Maybach and the Haar have more body. You can hear that even in the dry comparison.

    • @topografer
      @topografer 3 роки тому +1

      @@jomitie Actually the dry comparison reaveals A LOT and kudos for doing it. Most people won't, and I always like a guitar that sings unplugged. Unplugged sound between fender and maybach were worlds apart. The haar always sounded awesome more present that's due to the tonewoods I guess, you would expect a maple board guitar to sound more present than a rw one.

    All 3 guitars sound great to me, because of your excellent and emotional playing, Sir. But only the Haar created goose bumps on my arms. Incredible sound with quite some character. The Maybach sounds very nice too and the Fender spoke least to me. Is the Haar equipped with Amber or Kloppmann pickups?

  • @tituschalk
    @tituschalk 5 років тому

    Hey, very nice video! Would you mind saying something about what the decisive factors for you were? Tried a Haar and a Maybach the other day and liked them both... but I think the Haar I tried had a very flat radius which felt unfamiliar to me. Maybach maybe a little more traditional?

    • @jomitie
      @jomitie  5 років тому +1

      1. The neck really feels great
      2. The weight is around 3 kg, i guess (Edit: 2,97 kg!!!)
      3. The body (one piece swamp ash) is resonating very rich an warm. It sounds really awesome
      4. The frets are perfect (Jescar 55090)
      5. The Bareknuckle PUs are fantastic.

    • @jomitie
      @jomitie  5 років тому +1

      Maybach is indeed a bit more traditional, i guess. A normal Tele is 7,25 i think. My Haar has a compund radius from 8,5 to 10,5.

  • @topografer

    I cannot compare haar with the other two, but regarding the RW guitars I'm amazed how better the maybach sounds. On the other hand you cannot compare a production guitar with a handmade guitar
    About haar it's an awesome manufacturer, but they make their guitars a bit too relic for me. I wish they did some light relicing or no relicing at all

      @tobiasharloff9807 4 роки тому +2

      @@everic Mal wieder was grundlegendes nicht kapiert, die alte Leier: bei akustischen Gitarren überträgt die Holzdecke die Saitenschwingung, bei elektrischen Gitarren die Tonabnehmer. Aus diesem Grund hat das Korpusholz und dessen Lackierung bei mit Tonabnehmern bestückten Brettgitarren auch praktisch keinen Einfluss auf den Klang. Das ist mittlerweile seit einigen Jahren von Prof. Zollener wissenschaftlich untersucht und dokumentiert, wird aber von Nitrojüngern, Flacherdlern und sonstigen Gitarre spielenden Postfaktikern geflissentlich ignoriert und geleugnet.

    • @tobiasharloff9807
      @tobiasharloff9807 4 роки тому +1

      Nein! Sie klingen objektiv betrachtet nicht anders. Sie klingen nur dann anders, wenn man Unterschiede hören WILL!
      Prof. Zollner hat in einem Hörversuch 26 Gitarristen Sondfiles von 4 unterschiedlichen Holzkombinationen vorgespielt. Die meisten Probanden hörten keine bis geringe Unterschiede. Einige hörten große Unterschiede. Die letzteren hörten aber auch dann große Unterschiede, wenn man ihnen die selben Soundfiles nacheinander vorspielte, und sie nur meinten, es handele sich um unterschiedliche Holzkombinationen.
      Zum Versuch:
      gitec-forum.de/wp/gitec-community/hoerversuche/
      Bei einer akustischen Gitarre wird die Saitenschwingung und damit der Ton über den Holzkorpus zum Luftschall, den wir hören.
      Bei einer Elektrischen Gitarre wird die Saitenschwingung via Tonabnehmer und Verstärker letztendlich durch die Speakermembran zum Luftschall. Was also bei der Akustiggitarre der Holzkorpus ist, sind bei der E-Gitarre Tonabnehmer, Verstärker und Lautsprecher und eben NICHT das Holz.
      Im Übrigen können Boxenbespannstoffe die Höhen um bis zu 2dB bedämpfen. 3dB bedeuten eine Verdoppelung der wahrgenommenen Lautstärke. Warum wird nur so viel über Hölzer und Lacke diskutiert und hanebüchener Unsinn verzapft? Warum redet niemand über Gitarren Setup, LS Membranen und Bezugsstoffe? Die haben im Gegensatz zu Holz und Lack tatsächlich Einfluss auf den E-Gitarrensound.
