@shadowyeager For some reason 250 years into the game my 150K fleets WAS the strongest in the galaxy by a longshot (minus an Awakened Ascendancy and one other empire whom I equaled both, I don't know either) I know this because after my fleet was halved after about 10 victories against the Prethoryn (Do they ever fucking end?) Someone waged war on me and I had to wage war on someone else because they colonized a planet which cut off the hyperlane networks in my territory and each empire only had like 30K fleet power.
@shadowyeager Well I'm on a new empire now (same setup just new game) because the "WAS" in my previous comment was due to the Prethoryn showing up. I didn't know how to go about fighting them but after annihilating a bunch of their fleets (in a 3v1 no less with about a 90K fleet) I've discovered that lasers are a good way to go about fighting them. If I had just waged a quick war against the weak ass empire in between me and the Prethoryn spawn points (it was their allies I didn't want to trigger) then I think I could have beaten them. Suggestions for fighting the scourge: 1. Kinectic weapons are useless. Torpedoes are useful for their high damage, but concentrate on energy weapons that penetrate armor. 2. Create many corvettes and destroyers that have point defense systems, but do not forget to create almost the same with energy. 3. Put everything in a defensive computer. That way, your ships will create a blob/bubble of ships. That is good because your point defense will be together and defending the rest of your fleet against their missiles, their most dangerous weapon. 4. Your fleet must contain the greatest number of corvettes and destroyers. Battleships and cruisers are for support from the distance, not as important as the firsts. If you follow this, you might be able to take down a 30k fleet with a 11k fleet. That was the thing that happened to me.

Friendly Nail Kinetic artillery is not the same as "kinetic weaponry". Large kinart has the range of 120, in the line with torpedoes and lances, which makes them incredibly useful against most kinds of weaponry, but it loses to lances in both damage and armor penetration.
this is my first playthrough and this just happened. their overall fleet power is over 300k and they all stay in one system, more fleets spawn ( too quickly) and the AI won't help.
It happened for me after 250 years RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF MY SECTOR! Luckily I could contain their invasion early. The only fleet left is a rogue 50k Fleet that I could trick with a 2k fleet.
Hey here's something that happened in my game. I was able to distract the main fleet with my own and sent another fleet to bombard their home world while it was still colonizing. The fleet destroyed the home world and literally all of their fleets in my game despawned! I don't know if it's a bug but I'm glad it happened. :)
If another race captures the queen, do you get the chance to take her back, by say, blowing her up? They spawned hyper late game for me and on the other side of the galaxy with two large empires in the way. They took a modest number of systems and got no further.
Finally got these guys, it’s been an interesting game playing as a Driven Assimilator. Being the black sheep of the galaxy, we began preparing for the crisis and or war in the heavens about 150 years before it hit. The organic races once all so determined in their unity to reject the machines have all finally come to stand behind me. My fleets barely managed to contain the initial invasions, so I pulled my forces back to regroup and heal letting the allied fleets move in to cover. Worst mistake ever, now my fleets are forced to dig in their heels, we’re winning this battle but the cost is so high. On the plus side, my game finally started moving at a normal speed again with all these ships destroyed.
So i had the scourge appear in the edge of my empire, i had 3 vassals, one of whom had a 7k fleet. My 100k fleet was very far away and could not react in time. The AI vassal did the unthinkable and went strait for the scourge homeworld. As the scourge dedtroyed the nearby systems, my vassal passed through all of them and destroyed the home scourge planet, ending the scourge in less than a year with a 7k fleet
Lucky you i just had them spawn last night and it was right in my northern sectors which i no longer own, also had a fallen empire awaken only to get crushed by the 900k or so fleets that spawned in. This was just after a bad war with my neighbours and i had a 20k fleet not much tech no lances. (about 180 years in) My federation is useless they have 60k fleet with good ships sat as far from the scourge as they can get and aint helping at all they have been in the same system for 10 years now. luckily i have a couple of vassals at my borders that have been distracting the scourge but unless i get federation president soon im probably dead XD
Terrorforming those planets. The Vong were the strangest part of the Expanded Universe books. That and the Superweapon one ups that would occur (DarkSaber, Sun Crusher, ect.)
Do you know of any easy way to change the code to allow all crisis' to trigger in the game? And is its possible to make them trigger with simple "event X" commands?
In my most recent run, I had the Scourge invade. Due to dumb luck, my psionic empire had a the following at the end of it: a fleet over 40k strength aided by a Baby Ether Drake which itself added another 14k all by itself, a Shroud Avatar (rating: skull), the Dreadnought (rating: 8k or so) and the Queen with her own fleet. We made short work of our enemies, including the old empires, afterward.
I get really nostalgic watching this, this video was one of the main reasons I got Stellaris and one of the main reasons I now have more than a 1000 hours.
Tiny vanguard? Just one of their ships is more powerful than an entire fleet of my best battleships, which I only just barely managed to research. Rocks Fall, Everyone Dies.
Be me: -Get pretty far into a game and play for 5 days straight -year 2402 rolls around -Get the event of echoes being detected -Expect a small invasion force that can be slapped in the face no problem -Get the second wave notification -See 4 144K fleets appear on other side of galaxy -Crap yourself seeing that your own fleet is only 71K -Realize that your fine for probably a while -Go to send your fleet with your allies to try to stop the invasion while you still can -Have your strike fleet completely spanked and retreat with only 6 battleships left -Try to rebuild a fleet in time to try again -Notice that your ally and most powerful nation is already half way conquered and that the Scourge has 3 more fleets -Send your fleet to try to save them -Have your fleet ganged by 3 144K fleets -Your ally falls and everyone else is being overrun -Try again and again to save yourself -Fail again and again to find that your extinction is near -Be fully overrun and get defeated by the Scourge -Cry for a bit after losing a game after all this time and effort -Stop crying and shrug your shoulders and say "Guess I'll play a new game -Start a new game.
This was my first crisis and I felt the brunt of the scourge’s swarms. I was forced to relocate to the opposite side of the galaxy a few years after the first wave
I'm pretty sure the Scourge scales with either time or galactic tech. I had one that didn't trigger until around 300 years into the game and it spawned around 8-10 fleets of 80K power each.
The first time I encountered the crisis (contingency), I was in the middle of a galactic war, they spawned right next to my capital. I got absolutely destroyed. The second time, I played the whole game preparing for the crisis, taking the perks, uniting the galaxy, destroying the fallen empires. I built over 400 battleships and had over 2.5 million fleet power. So when the scourge eventually invaded, it was a bit anticlimactic (it was on normal difficulty I think, 1.5x).
For those who found this looking for Prethoryn info, be aware that it is now multiple patches later and the invasion fleets have gotten much, much larger...
I've had these guys pop up in the empire below my own (who i had just warred with a few years prior) and they took a large part of their territory. However, they stopped spreading after about 8 systems and now they're just... there, and have been for about 50 game years now.
Being the strongest Empire in the galaxy with 300k fleet in 2387, then the Prethory Scourge spawned in my face with almost 900k in total, there are no Aweaken Empires and other empires got only 10-30k, so I'm the only one that could stop them but I can't defeat them, this game is fking exiting.
@ASpec do you think you can do an updated version of each end game crisis? Since a year ago the game's changed so I was curious if they changed as well?
When they spawned for me the first time, it was right in the path of an awakened zenophobic empire. The empire was well into its war swing and had two 300k fleets. I barely needed to help (I also spawned across the galaxy). I couldn't believe my luck
hey Aspec i captured the queen but the admiral from that queen navy whas elected now i cant re asign it and cant re asign another admiral either, and how big can the queen navy grow ? my does not grow bigger then 6k
How to terraform berren worlds that have been infested and cleared, all of them have the modifier "Terraforming candidate", but they don`t have the button for teraforming, please help!
You know what stellaris needs in the next set of content? A empire like this with a hivemind. I know everyone has that flood empire fantasy once or twice. I know i do. Sure it'd probably be a little restricted but thats the fun of it. Otherwise you can make hiveminds more fleshed out. I get devouring swarm and all that but a civic that give me the ability to infect pops and turn worlds into hive worlds.
I've only encountered these guys in one play through, but I haven't had many advanced games to be fair. While at first alarming, these guys actually put on a "shamfur dispray" once I realized they relied almost exclusively on strike craft and missiles (which are great to research). I wiped out tens of thousands of them and it took about a century to contain and exterminate them, but really it wasn't very much of a big deal other than it caused the resurgent ascendancy empires to calm down for a bit. The end result was that I ended up with massive fleets that could stomp anyone, except Ascendancy Empires, outright. I developed a ship production methodology with my colonies and placement of star bases that allowed me to produce ships as fast or faster than they could be destroyed by the Scourge.
So the scourge invaded and with the help of my federation fleet I’ve been able to keep them contained in a small corner of the galaxy. I’ve burned every single scourge controlled planet and recaptured most of the territory held by them but for some reason they keep spawning massive fleets out of nowhere? How do I get rid of them permanently
I’m not sure if anyone got back to you anywhere and I know it’s an old comment. Glass the infested planets. Orbital bombardment is all that will cleanse them. If you’re a fanatic purifier or someone with Access to Armageddon bombardment, it shouldn’t take long at all. My fleet of pacifists ships can’t Armageddon, it took my fleets each ...I wanna say... 6 months to glass an infested world. Once those are done, you should just have mop up duty left. Hope you beat them!
This is a what if scenario... What if the Scourge event occurs during the AI revolt... Scourge meets AI and infest them and evolves into.... The Borg.... resistance is futile... >_
I hope you can help out. I fought scourge on iron man mode and wiped out the scourge territory thus prematurely ending the chain. Now I have the rare tech but when I try to research them, they say no progress and won’t change. What do I do?
Right? They just spawned in my game, and their advanced fleet was 2-4 60+k fleets. Their main fleets arrived and are moving through some poor Fanatical purifier AI systems (RIP) and I rough counted them to be some where around 500-700k fleet strength. And to top it all off, the galaxy is in the middle of the war in heaven. So pretty much RIP all of us :D.
In my game I was at constant war with 3 neighbouring empires, but had a fleet power of 120K to push them back. Just as the Feraxi Regime (My empire) looked like it was going to dominate my biggest rival (Saiban Sovereignty with fleet power of 89K) I got a scourge notification and that they were spawning between me and my vassel. I stayed to attack the Saiban as I thought I had about 3-10 years once they arrived, but they showed up the second I had defeated my adversary. My ships had high shield health and regeneration so I sent my fleet to attack a 50K scourge fleet...Only to be ambushed by four 98K fleets. The poor Void Shulkers were decimated in mere seconds. My vassel's husk squadrons tried to hold them off, but had failed in due time.
They popped up in an area where they literally had ten whole systems before they hit a choke point that led into my empire. It was the only way they could expand, and lucky for me they sent only a couple fleets at a time into the chokepoint instead of their full force. At the same time I could use a nearby gateway that the Prethoryn hadn’t taken to prod at them using my fleet of 120 or so corvettes. Eventually they exhausted most of their fleets trying to take that system, allowing me to stage an offensive using my 6 30-40k fleets that were specially designed to fight the swarm. Take that and add the reinforcements from a nearby fallen empire and lets just say that the Prethoryn didn’t last too long.
Well new galaxy and these guys spawn in a group of systems that has only one entry point into the galaxy. I have about 30 40k fleets with six of them with Titans. Each fleet with a titan has 20 battleships and the others have 22. Scourge, meet kill fleet (Edit) also, does the second wave spawn in the same locations as the vanguard?
On my last run through the vanguard fleets were around 120k a piece, and the main fleets where around 360k I believe. They landed just a couple systems north of my border. I also had "The Contigency" active at this time, with similarly scaled fleet power, and a machine world north of me, and one south. That was a fucking ride.
The way I captured the queen was it spawned in the Praethoryn Scourge territory, and so I just had my Science ship tp over there through experimental subspace navigation and then just having the defense system there ignoring me, researched and got the queen... I tried my best bringing it back from the middle of their territory. But since the queen seems like an immortal they made it back.
While playing I got an "event" window where it told me unknown vessels has been spotted in a system but cannot establish communication or something like that and that "only time will tell". Situation log not updated either. Its been 30 years since already since I got this message and nothing more. The said system it was spotted was in a another empire's territory.
I fought these guys in my very first game. My Defense Flotilla was able to handle the vanguard, but suffered heavy losses to the second wave. I was so worried about them I colonized some crappy systems on the other side of the Galaxy just in case. A third of the Nakan Union was lost but my people survived and I did get a Queen out of it.
I think I'm boned cuz their fleets are spawning with about 120-160k fleet strength and max I have with a fleet of 2 titans battleships and some corvettes only reaches about 70k
To me didnt come in small numbers, they come with four fleets each one with 17k ships, more another 4k ships and 8k ships, before I realise I was totally overwhelmed by them.
"After some time", been sitting at "coming storm" in a game for almost 50 years since the 1st trigger. Anyone know the time for when they come after the 1st trigger event?
Sooooooo, i dint know help would come if you just waited a little, so i went balls to the wall and now i have killed every single system they owned, but they just keep comeing. Is there a way to get rid of them without letting them take 20% of the galaxy?
Was playing a multiplayer game with my friend last night when the scourge arrived. They arrived far from us, and since I was running a tall pacifist spirit empire, he decided not to engage yet. I built my defenses while he built his fleets. The scourge grew, and every fleet he sent was squashed by the overwhelming might of the scourge. But my defenses held. He decided since it was late and the scourge covered a quarter of the galaxy and kept growing that the game was lost. I decided otherwise. My defenses still hold strong protecting me an one other empire who is behind me with no other hyperlanes to the rest of the galaxy. We have begun our counter push and will do so slowly so that we may build defenses behind us as we grow. I hope that we may survive.
I tonight just got this crisis. They spawned in 2411 and sent a few scouts in. However.. I rushed tech and dominated a majority of the galaxy through either vassalisation or integrations, or just straight domination. I had a massive armada of 20+ fleets all well over 150k and some in the 200k area. Some of my vassals had a quarter of that, but that still meant they had 300k + fleet power. Those bugs spawned and 50 fleets moved in on them, took their 'home system' and after a couple years, they tried again. They didn't last long, and a year or two after all the ships were dead I got a pop-up that said all pockets of the scourge were gone. I barely did anything because I was fighting a fallen empire at the time who started invading my areas.
Had these guys in my multiplayer game with two of my friends, 152 years in they spawned in inside my AI neighbor, me and my fanatic materialist collectivist friend took them down while combating their irritating constructor ships (my nation had only just rebuilt after a huge attempt to get four of my core planets back from the imperialistic Meshben Hegemony)
At this point now i am a protectorate of the Trebid Homolog and I have just lost Karka. I am retreating to my homeland of the Citadel and will rebuild there.
They came right after my federation got done fighting a huge war that spanned across my entire galaxy now no one has the power to stand against them. Plus they all spawned in my territory. R.I.P Galaxy
well the wounded queen literally spawned in the capital system of the prethoryn scourge and im fleet was destroyed by them so no chance getting the queen now :/

It happened for me after 250 years RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF MY SECTOR! Luckily I could contain their invasion early. The only fleet left is a rogue 50k Fleet that I could trick with a 2k fleet.
They could only take 2 planets.
300k fleet power, i dream of 300k fleet power. In my game they have combined fleet power of 2.4 million+about 40 5k stations.
Dear god what have I done wrong . . the vanguard is here. . one fleet is like 100k strong already . . rest in pepperoni my lovley galexy. . .
GamingV0LTAGE they are nuts in 2.01 update. I cant beat them
I had 3 at 100k rest at 60k
I had 3 at 250k and 3 at 59k and managed to kill them in 1 battle with my fleet of 130k,90k,75k and 60k
Which they comed in my game with 5fleet of 200k.
PURGE THE ALIEN.
WALK SOFTLEH AND CARRY A BIG GUN
+Justiciar For the Imperium of Man, AND FOR THE BATTLEFLEET GOTHIC!!!!!
Elijah Kelley FOR THE GLORY OF THE IMPERIUM , FOR THE EMPEROR OF MANKIND
these things are landing at my homeworld with 203k fleet power.... so all my Fleet are busy at frontline damn sick
It's pretty exciting isn't it.
agree but this so much surprise me at first i have to made peace with other empire emmidiatly for put all my fleet back home haha
Now I want to start a devouring swarm playthrough, call myself The Flood, and capture the Swarm Queen...
You better donate a shitton of minerals and planets to that vassal.
That intro music and then BAM ASpec. Brilliant editing :-)
So basically, the Vong. I'm so going to get revenge on these bastards!
Falling skies for the win!
+paul josephs I was referencing Star Wars.
You can mess around with the script files, though you need to be careful to make sure that you're not overwriting more than one event.
MUGANI? HAK HAK HAK!
I get really nostalgic watching this, this video was one of the main reasons I got Stellaris and one of the main reasons I now have more than a 1000 hours.
i wish the vid was longer. the sense of epicness and grandeur is giving me goose bumps
Thanks for the Mechanics video.
Tiny vanguard? Just one of their ships is more powerful than an entire fleet of my best battleships, which I only just barely managed to research.
Rocks Fall, Everyone Dies.
Be me:
-Get pretty far into a game and play for 5 days straight
-year 2402 rolls around
-Get the event of echoes being detected
-Expect a small invasion force that can be slapped in the face no problem
-Get the second wave notification
-See 4 144K fleets appear on other side of galaxy
-Crap yourself seeing that your own fleet is only 71K
-Realize that your fine for probably a while
-Go to send your fleet with your allies to try to stop the invasion while you still can
-Have your strike fleet completely spanked and retreat with only 6 battleships left
-Try to rebuild a fleet in time to try again
-Notice that your ally and most powerful nation is already half way conquered and that the Scourge has 3 more fleets
-Send your fleet to try to save them
-Have your fleet ganged by 3 144K fleets
-Your ally falls and everyone else is being overrun
-Try again and again to save yourself
-Fail again and again to find that your extinction is near
-Be fully overrun and get defeated by the Scourge
-Cry for a bit after losing a game after all this time and effort
-Stop crying and shrug your shoulders and say "Guess I'll play a new game
-Start a new game.
This is exactly what happened to me..
@Christopher Corriveau Cool story haha
'Spawning with several 20k fleets...'
looking at my own 150k-ish feet: 'Oh, that's cute.'
Not any more buddy it could easily reach 350-400k in 2x crisis difficulty
150k feet??
Awesome vids man
Very well made and quick, excellent work sir! Can you do one on Sectors?
Sweet work, keep it up.
This was my first crisis and I felt the brunt of the scourge’s swarms. I was forced to relocate to the opposite side of the galaxy a few years after the first wave
by the way a video about titans in stellaris would go great with your style, also thanks for videos.
I'm pretty sure the Scourge scales with either time or galactic tech.
I had one that didn't trigger until around 300 years into the game and it spawned around 8-10 fleets of 80K power each.
i think its time to revisit these crisis
your vids are so good
The first time I encountered the crisis (contingency), I was in the middle of a galactic war, they spawned right next to my capital.
With 3.0 patch notes, the Scourge have an equal chance to spawn now, in theory. Though it seems it is still slightly weighted towards the Unbidden.
Can we have a video about the Worm-in-Waiting event chain?
Good old 2016... Sometimes I wonder what the YT algorithm is doing, but then I get hit by nostalgia...
The Scourge is some fusion of the Tyranids and the Flood
Could you show us a timelapse of the scourge in action?
So the scourge invaded and with the help of my federation fleet I’ve been able to keep them contained in a small corner of the galaxy. I’ve burned every single scourge controlled planet and recaptured most of the territory held by them but for some reason they keep spawning massive fleets out of nowhere? How do I get rid of them permanently
I’m not sure if anyone got back to you anywhere and I know it’s an old comment. Glass the infested planets. Orbital bombardment is all that will cleanse them. If you’re a fanatic purifier or someone with
Access to Armageddon bombardment, it shouldn’t take long at all. My fleet of pacifists ships can’t Armageddon, it took my fleets each ...I wanna say... 6 months to glass an infested world. Once those are done, you should just have mop up duty left. Hope you beat them!
Does anyone know if like the fallen empires they can’t rebuild there fleets after there destroyed?
now you can talk to Scourge when having unlocked the shroud
This is a what if scenario...
What if the Scourge event occurs during the AI revolt...
Scourge meets AI and infest them and evolves into....
The Borg.... resistance is futile... >_
only 1 crisis can occur per game :|
@@bodedfreder1440 I think they're thinking about the A.I Revolt as in Rebellion rather then the contingency.
They exterminat them.
*_Do not be afraid! I am peace! I am salvation_*
Ah yes, Prethoryn Scourge. We have dismissed that claim.
I hope you can help out. I fought scourge on iron man mode and wiped out the scourge territory thus prematurely ending the chain. Now I have the rare tech but when I try to research them, they say no progress and won’t change. What do I do?
Does the injured queen thing only happen once because I click it but I couldn’t find it
Those things are basically the Yuuzhan Vong!
*Breathes in* FOR THE EMPEROR!!!!!
Thule
Holy fuck that brings back memories
Mine spawned with 200k fleets... Should I just uninstall at this point or
Individual or is that the total of all fleets
*MODS.*
You can now undrstand them in 1.5 if you have breached the shroud as Psionics.
So I have the queen but she only produced one ship and hasn’t produced any ships for a long time now don’t know what to do.
Hungry, hungry still hungry
i need help i triggered this event in the console commands one time and now every crisis the Prethoryn Scourge is the only one to spawn.
For me the fucking main body arrives so soon after the vanguard that I can't even get my ships to engage the van.
Just got them , they spawned on the opposite side of a large galaxy to me thank god
The Prethoryn vs the Flood
Well new galaxy and these guys spawn in a group of systems that has only one entry point into the galaxy. I have about 30 40k fleets with six of them with Titans. Each fleet with a titan has 20 battleships and the others have 22. Scourge, meet kill fleet
(Edit) also, does the second wave spawn in the same locations as the vanguard?
love the tyranids reference
On my last run through the vanguard fleets were around 120k a piece, and the main fleets where around 360k I believe. They landed just a couple systems north of my border. I also had "The Contigency" active at this time, with similarly scaled fleet power, and a machine world north of me, and one south. That was a fucking ride.
Hawkons I had 0.25 crisis strength.😁
Sunset invasion, space edition
Ok I have a question, if you integrate the empire that has the injured queen will it give it to you?
Can they re-create their queens?
Seth117 so did I. 150 years later and nothing.
They took my home world but one day.. just one day.. my people shall return to take back what was ours
how does it appear any triggers?
I'm facing the Scourge in my current game. Their ships are not effected by snare, therefore I could not trap/intercept them. Is this a bug?
how can i defeat them?
with a friend we have destroid almost 20 fleets but they always get more..
You know.....if I knew we could benefit from the scourge....I would have spared them....
Every sci fi has space bugs...
I'm assuming you met them by now but it's a glitch use the time to build up your Fleet
Sooooooo, i dint know help would come if you just waited a little, so i went balls to the wall and now i have killed every single system they owned, but they just keep comeing.
Is there a way to get rid of them without letting them take 20% of the galaxy?
smells like Reapers to me, sitting in dark space, suddenly jumping into your galaxy to destroy all life, where is Commander Shepard when you need him?
Please revisit this ASpec :D. Because they just showed up with like.... 600-800k in fleet strength. And I don't have enough Astartes for this.
