    Julian Schnabel
    Julian Schnabel is an artist and filmmaker. His paintings, sculptures, and works on paper have been exhibited all over the world. He has written and directed the feature films Basquiat (96), Before Night Falls (00), Berlin (07), The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (07) - for which Schabel won Best Director at both Cannes and the Golden Globes - and Miral (10). At Eternity's Gate (18) is his most recent feature.

      Schnabel is an unrelenting force, similar to a black hole or the centre of a bagel or doughnut.
      They say his head weighs more than Marlon Brando's did.
      As for the rest of him, well he's a human installation.

    Wonderful film, so sorrowful. Pardon my naivety but please explain to me why the lower half of the lens was blurry during the yellow segments of the film?

      Because it was supposed to be from Vincent’s eyes, what he was seeing.

    That split screen crap, really fucked up the movie for me. There was no need for that. Don't try to reinvent how to film a movie, reinvent how to tell a good story.

      As van gochs said i paint with my mistake and rights something like that
      But I think the director wanted to show us how Vincent had seen the things

      How dare you tell someone how to do art. The best artists are the ones that try and reinvent everything. Film is as just as much an art form as the story. But more than anything I find it so egotistical that because you didn't enjoy it, it means that they shouldn't have even tried.
