Its so fantastic how all of these different performers sing this song, but each take a different approach on how to perform it. I cannot decide which one is my favorite because they are so different dramatically. The song by itself is so beautifully written.

Usually I'm not a fan of a singer who takes SO many artistic liberties with their phrasing, changing of melodic lines, making some lines spoken that should be sung, etc -- but this performance is so heartfelt and well thought out that I couldn't help but love it. It's also a beautiful arrangement of the song. Bravo. Really beautiful. And Michael has a beautiful voice.

First saw Michael at Barbra Streisand's concerts in Europe, then THRILLED to have him literally 3 feet away from me singing during the LA production of "Pippin" at the Mark Taper Forum. AMAZING. What a beautiful voice and a beautiful performer!!

I watched this video for the first time a couple of years ago and I have yet to see a performance of this song that is as moving and so full of emotions as Michael's version. (Matt Doyle's and Aaron Tveit's are vocally strong but does not come close to touching this emotionally.) Not only Michael an amazing singer, he is a fine actor as well. When you watch this, you feel like he's singing just to you. And for four minutes, we are all Sams and we want to run away with him.
