  • Here we are going fairly in depth on the three aspects I tend to find are the most important for developing clean sweep picking technique. If you have any questions feel free to drop them in the comments and maybe I will make a future video on them! And I the meantime, please subscribe to my channel, and head over to my website if you're interested in lessons

    Thank you so FREAKING MUCH.... have never gotten sweep picking but only knew the palm muting method which caused problems when I would try speeding up to actual speed. Have never tried the thumb method as of yet but the concept is sound, can't for the results. Thanks again man you rock.🤘

    Liking your video! Muting the strings with the thumb seems like a useful technique.
    Stumbled on this because I'm battling against natural harmonics ringing when lifting my finger after playing a note no matter how slow I play it and couldn't figure out why.
    Turning the volume knob down to half kills the effect, but perhaps there's a better solution

    I like that you didn't start with smaller 3 string sweeps. I feel the muting and hand sync movement required to do 3 strings cleanly is far less then moving over 5 + strings . Diving into a full pattern is most beneficial for solid progression .. I guess I'm odd because I mute using the palm of my pick hand going down but my fret hand palm mutes going back up , I never finger muted LOL.. Great tutorial with clear descriptions and sound advice .

    • @JakeJensenGuitar
      @JakeJensenGuitar  2 роки тому +1

      I completely agree, and if nothing else you just have less of a chance to get comfortable with the motion in one direction with the 3 string sweeps, because you’re going to be changing direction so often. I’m glad you enjoyed the lesson!

    I don't quite understood how do you mute with the thumb and not making any scratch noises.
    Although, this is very helpful and detailed video that points to many important common issues and shows how to resolve them and develop the sweep technique.

      It is something that takes some getting used to, and isn’t the easiest in the beginning, but once you have it down it is a huge help in keeping things clean.
      But if you still find that you’re having trouble with it, I do offer private lessons, so feel free to check out my website for info on that if you’d like more help

    you had me at Altitudes....lol. So clean, nice playing! hearing it isolated like that has made me want to learn that bit, having previously thought it was way beyond my paying level. video perhaps? If you can get a lapel mic that would help as the vocal audio is quite low compared to the guitar/room mic. cheers!

    • @JakeJensenGuitar
      @JakeJensenGuitar  2 роки тому

      Thanks man! It can definitely be tricky, but I’d say it’s doable as a whole. And if nothing else, just trying to work your way through it could make you a better player, even if it’s not up to speed.
      And I was thinking the same thing about the mic actually, definitely going to look into one!

    Is that a minor, major arp? Wheres the root ? How to apply on a backin track? Etc

    • @JakeJensenGuitar
      @JakeJensenGuitar  3 місяці тому +1

      This wasn’t a music theory lesson, nor was it a lesson about how to use arpeggios over a backing track. As the title implies the purpose of the video was to clean up your sweep picking technique.
