Thank you for being unpretentious about your home and that, even in lack and in construction, you show us how you work to be faithful with what God has given you. Very inspiring!
My favorite keeping things tidy rule was shared by my very busy sister, she said "If it can be done is less than two minutes, do it now" and it has saved me hours of cleaning up and hours bugging my children to clean. Recently I stumbled onto making tasks simpler for my littles, instead of "Clean your room" I give two tasks I want completed that day, or ask them which two they intend to complete that day. It'tsmotivated my preteen boy to start cleaning and organizing his things daily without reminding him and its amazing to see!
Oh sister, I love you so much! I wish we were neighbors! I’m so encouraged by you. I’m still in the throes I have adult children. My oldest is now 20 and my youngest is 2 so it’s encouraging to see you do some of these things & also to remind us moms that still have a little, little ones that it took a while to get there. My older children all had handmade things from me that I sewed with my sewing machine. I was busy sewing until I had my fifth sixth baby and now my little ones are asking me all the time if I could just sew them some cool stuff like their big siblings!! So my prayer lately has been that God will make away for me to get my sewing stuff out and get my inspiration out! I have two boys who are busy, busy busy& I don’t have the space I used to have for the art studio. I am an artist.. God is faithful 🥰
I normally don't like videos of this length, but I appreciate the realism in your videos. I have been playing this in the background as I do other things and have been enjoying it. Thank you for this channel. Signed, a former homeschooling mom (they're in their late 20s).
You are such a blessing! Seriously the text on the thumbnail of this video was enough to preach. It gave me so much pause and brought tears to my eyes. Frankly it may have changed my attitude toward housekeeping permanently. Thank you for what you do.
Love all the tips! I am a Norwex consultant, and I love it because it IS cheaper in the long run and the kids can use it as (roughly) as they want lol. I'm looking to have a small homestead in the future, so you got a new subscriber! Thank you for sharing all your wisdom and things you've learned along your journey. I'm definitely here for it all!
LOVE this video. As a homeschooling mom to 3 kids, I’m always amazed at how quickly a clean home can be turned upside down. It helps to see this reality and feel the motivation to keep at the cleaning day to day. I truly appreciate that you keep it real with your content and show your messes along with tips for tidying. Thank you for another great video!
I love how your home looks. You're one of my inspirations for homesteading & homeschooling. Thank you for sharing ideas that have worked for you ❤❤❤ I'm exhausted but EXCITED so I want to share everywhere lol We're pregnant 5wks with baby #4. Hello Elena! Thank you so much too! I see you are a member here, thank you so much for this! Did you see this morning's members post? I'm moving memberships to Patreon! I'll keep videos in memberships here, but I'll be adding new ones over there.
another lovely video! I love the home ones. great tip about rewarding the children - I forget that yes I feel rewarded when the house is in order but for them that is not a big reward lol. :) keep on with your channel mama! I appreciate that you talk about anxiety its so helpful I've been struggling lately. nice to hear about other moms learning how to overcome
I hear ya about the ADHD, decluttering, and having a clear space to be able to think. I LOVE my planner because it does help me prioritize and be able to see what needs to be done for today. I get overwhelmed with all the to dos, and I do often forget if tasks are not put in the planner. :) I have to have visual prompts to keep myself on track.
I loved this Shayla. It did bless me. I try to tackle a small section at a time. I dread certain ones but I've found that if I just get up and do it that it doesn't take long at all. I feel so good when my house is clean and tidy. Ty for sharing this video. Be blessed.
Thank you for making this video. It was extremely helpful. I homeschool too. I have one 9 year old. We also have unfinished floors (ours are unsealed concrete) and unfinished doors and windows. Our place is 600 square feet and is open concept, 1 level. I loved learning about your cleaning tips, recipes, and those of other youtubers you've mentioned. The most difficult thing for me is trying to not get the raw wood in the kitchen wet; We have no backsplash and our countertops are just pieced together granite that we got for free, but not glued or cemented down. These things get me down sometimes; I can see light through the seams of the doors (because clear calking was used to seal them) and pink insulation where the windows are not sealed. You gave me inspiration and reminded about what God's word says about a clean home. Just over the weekend my 9 year old and I cleaned the "bedroom" that we share. I swept and she picked up all of the toys, recycle, trash, clothes, and whatnot. She asked why she couldn't sweep. I told her that it was because I was not the one who made this mess. Her answer was "oooohkaaaaay". We got it done fairly quickly. It's like you said. The messes never end. Right now, she's on slime probation for getting slime fixings all over the floor and the bathroom sink (her hands were blueish-green for a week). The bathroom, looked like a slime bomb exploded right in front of the sink. And when I asked her to clean it up, she couldn't get the slime ingredients to come off. So I had to show her how to do that. There was corn starch, glue, food coloring, activator, and other add ins. We used dish soap, baking soda, and a scraper.
Don't get down about the 'state of your house' ....I too have lived in an unfinished home all my life! (the same home. I grew up in it & now my husband & our family lives there). We had rooms that were only sheet rocked & we didn't even use them - using a quilt hanging in a door way to block off the unused, unheated portion of the house. I had no window trim (seeing daylight thru the side of the casings) , door casings, or moulding for years ( I still don't in some rooms). We have lived here almost 20 years & it has been in renovation the entire time, still not finished. We had tar paper as siding on one side of the house, because it was an addition & we could not afford new siding. We had leaky roofs & water damaged ceilings. I have used cabinets that look ok, but don't quiiiiiittttte fit the kitchen right. They were supposed to be temporary - we can't afford new ones with the way prices skyrocketed. but I DO have a fairly clean house & we all have the things that are our 'comforts'; cozy blankets, quilts, books, pretty dishes. But more than that we have a dry, warm, safe home with all the ones we love in it. Our house is the house everyone wants to be at - it is like grand central station. No one leaves just because I have dated cabinets that are kind of cobbled together. The food is good, the conversation & laughs are better. It is the home that my childhood memories were made in, my grand father was born in, I brought one of my daughters home after birth to, my husband & dad built a loving relationship working together renovating, and all the relatives want to be part of all the cool stuff we do here on our farm. My husband would get really down, but I would remind him that we had the most important things; each other! just look upon your home with love, gratitude, & forgiveness
We are also in the middle of kitchen renovation "at the speed of cash", so I have raw wood and plain sheetrock in my kitchen. I got 2 spare floor tiles from the bathroom to put behind my sink as a "backsplash" and it's made a big difference, I don't have to worry about splashing the sheetrock or getting food on it. Just thought that might help - just setting something waterproof (a tile, a cutting board, etc.) has helped a lot!
Great timing! It is chore day today! So many helpful tips! One of our cleaning "secrets" - we do a quick sweep every night of the main living spaces (living room, kitchen, kids bathroom, main hallway). We have 2 dogs and 3 kids, so dirt and doghair abound! Doing a quick sweep each night will keep it from being overwhelming!
Love me some Scandish Home and Noemi. If she ever decides to do a cookbook, I'm gonna get it. 😉 Congratulations on the makeup vanity. That's a gorgeous piece of furniture and the price was phenomenal. 👍
I don’t want this comment to be too long, but this video was honestly so encouraging to me. I am a mom of one, but I want to have a large family one day. I have ADHD and we live in a very small, odd, unfinished home. My husband works very long hours and I get easily overwhelmed by our home. Your advice and wisdom was so helpful and appreciated. I will also say, I think the whole “if it’s not in the planner, it’s not gonna happen” thing is just ADHD, not your age. 😂 I have a whiteboard on my fridge, and it may not be the cutest, but it’s one of THE BEST things I ever bought. I write everything on there and I don’t lose it! I even write down when the baby’s last dirty diaper was. 😂
Hello Caroline, thank you for commenting! I enjoyed reading it! That is rough when the hubby works long hours. For 3/4 of the year for the first 12 years or so of my marriage my husband was planting or harvesting soy & corn as a farm hand, so we didn't see him for 3/4 of the year it seemed. Those years were so hard so I understand what you mean! So glad to have you here!
Love this content! I started with a basic Norwex cloth set, then went to E-cloths because of cost- you’re right, you get what you pay for and I hate the feel of the E-cloths! Norwex is the ONLY brand I buy now and my first set of Norwex cloths are still going strong 8 years on and I just keep adding to my supply every time Norwex cloths go on sale! (I have an envelope just for Norwex cleaning cloths and mops/replacemnt cloths). I bought an air purifier about 6 months ago and the amount of dust has almost disappeared and we are not all stuffy and sneezing all the time! We taught our kids to do their own laundry at 10 years old and had their scheduled days to do it, 30 years on, I went with our granddaughter and daughter to her orientation at LSU Baton Rouge, and the Dean of Students asked parents to raise their hand if they: still woke their “child” up to go to school or work, if they gave them $ for no reason and bailed them out of overdraft fees if they had bank accounts, did their laundry and a few more things. She then stated “just stop” after about 3/4 of parents raised their hands, she explained how students will be late for classes because they don’t know how to wake up on their own early enough to get ready and get across campus and that leads to failing grades (many professors will lock the doors or not allow students in the classroom if they are repeatedly late or more than 10 minutes late), they get phone calls from businesses about bad checks or not paying bills and she gets calls regarding laundry and if there is someone to do it for them if they schedule it or they have no clue how to do laundry because they were never taught or had to do it themselves; she said they are now adults and it’s their responsibility to do every day, common life activities, not the staff. Our kids had household responsibilities as well as us, and a lot of times, I would do their “chores” so they could just be kids, but they left our home knowing how to cook, bake, clean, meal plan, budget, save and tithe, auto maintenance, house and yard/garden maintenance, etc and they all bounced back once after they moved out on their own (this does not include college or trade school time). “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 ESV- is not just about God and faith, but to train them how to take care of themselves when they leave your home and that includes both males and females because these are the time we are in right now.
you are so, so right! I have 2 girls, 20 & 17 yo. They get up for their part time jobs on time, drive themselves with cars THEY purchased & pay for (gas, insurance, repairs, etc), get ready for home school on their own or got to trade school on their own. They have been doing laundry since they were 9-ish. They have done their own banking since they were 15 or 16. I never interfere in their part time jobs. And I have been a sahm since they can remember. I am amazed & disheartened by the # of their friends that can't function. Their moms kind of rip on me for making them pay their own way or do things for themselves, like somehow I am a bad mom, because I don't act like their personal assistant. It gets tiresome. But the proof is in the pudding LOL. My older daughter marveled at how many of the ADULT girls in her cosmetology class could not drive still. These were girls 25+ yo!!!! Their parents were still driving them to work & school....& school let out at 9:30pm! Absolutely NOT! I was one of those type of kids because i had a control freak mother who insisted on doing everything for us (martyr syndrome) and I did not know how to do a load of wash when I got to college. I also did not know how to use an atm card or do any banking/balancing a check book. I was clueless, helpless & knew it. It really killed my confidence and induced a lot of unnecessary anxiety. I still struggle with many things that other adults don't. Which is why I trained my girls to be 'different'.
I love this ,you are so real!! I watch so video's where they have six or more children and their houses do not looked lived in. Thank you for all the tips and recipes for homemade cleaners. God bless!
Thank you from the depths of my heart!❤ You gave me an "AH HA" moment. I hate wearing my rubber gloves. I have an internal battle every time I look at them, and now I know why. They are hot pink, and I am not a hot pink girl! You have given me permission to spend a little extra the next time on a more subdued, calming color:)
Thank you so much for this video! It's such an informative video and i love the fact that you keep up with the messes but your home still looks lived in. Thank you for the homemade cleaning products too I'm definitely going to be trying them.
With your ruggables not laying flat - I often put ice cubes on the corners of new rugs that want to curl. I haven’t tried it with ruggables, but might be worth a shot.
I would love to purchase the DIY cleaning recipes in a printable format. I still love my paper 😂 and I can’t remember a thing since hitting 45. Maybe a cute one pager I can laminate and hang in the kitchen or laundry space?
I have four that are all four and a half years and under. My house is so messy but it gives me anxiety. I also have adhd and anxiety. My husband doesn’t believe adhd is a thing. I need to try the laundry day! My three year old pees her pants a lot and my two year old wants to potty like a big kid so I have smelly clothes all the time. I probably have to wash at least one babies sheets at least two times a week but often times even more.
That is hard! I know this doesn't sound like it will help, but try to sit among it all and slowly and gently learn to have that cup of tea in the mess anyway. The work will never be done, but if you can gently ease in to giving yourself regular breaks you'll be more productive yet rested too! It's hard to learn this but it really does work!
Hi! Just wanted to say that we recently discovered neurodivergence in our family, which will take a while for official diagnosis. My eldest, at the age of 20, and after major burnout got diagnosed with Autism and we are certain, after discovering the signs we missed that we have more children on the spectrum. Neurodivergence is familial, so it definitely is likely to have multiple children or one or both parents affected, too. My husband and second eldest daughter believe they have ADHD. It's very hard to be invalidated and forced to perform/function as allistics do. Big hugs! I hope your husband comes around and realizes it's a legitimate struggle. I *think* feeling supported and understood can help with anxiety. Not remove it, but help. Neurodivergents are more prone to anxiety, depression, and trauma. Just know that although I don't know you, I see you, I know your struggle, and I send you thoughts and prayers on your journey. We've come to knowledge of all this through a difficult, rude awakening as my eldest developed a seizure disorder related to FND. We are committed to doing what we can to help her and our other children know we love and give them the time and space they need when they are struggling. We have 13 children, by the way, our eldest diagnosed during my 13th pregnancy. I hope to have encouraged you in some way. God bless!
Oh, also, I never have done it, but I saw a hack for sheets getting soiled for kids. Maybe it'll help you? If you already have a matress protector, then add the sheet on top of that, add another mattress protector and sheet. That way, you aren't in a rush to launder the sheets. Maybe that's not helpful in your situation? I saw this hack for a stomach bug since vomiting happens overnight, and they need a clean bed ASAP.
Christopher's Originals has a line by Wholistic botanicals that I know is good. I do not recommend Plant Therapy or DoTerra as I've had bad experiences with both. Personally I've used and love Young Living since the 90's. If you would like, you are welcome to look at joining me. My share link is www.youngliving.com/us/en/referral/910713 Young Living just opened up and made more ways to purchase, just FYI.
So I’m watching this video and trying to straighten up my kitchen. I went to put a box of foil back in the cabinet where I store bags, foil, etc. And I found a bag of a half eaten danish I apparently just put in there while cleaning. I’m thinking I may have some ADHD as well.
Hello, I want to say thank you for how you like went over what you think you need in your doorway entryway and what not long story short I don’t have a mother to show me how to set up my Home so I’m lost as to what to have in my home I am 38 years old. I do have three children, and I am currently, chronically chronically ill and let’s just say not having a mom to show me or person to show me how to and what a mom needs and her home. What a person in general needs or how many of each item a person should have of a certain thing or things in their home isawesome and the homemade cleaners like I’m striving to be that homemaker mother, even though I’m chronically ill, even though I am single, even though you know, it’s not the same as yours I’m very thankful for people like you
@@mountainmamashome thank you so very much I am hoping to start vlogging my journey to show what it is to come from being healthy single mom to an chronically ill single mother you know that is a a child of Gen X. I believe they are because I work called millennials on 38 so I’m trying to heal myself and also parent children while being chronically ill and all those types of things and you know one thing that I found out was, a lot of people don’t know what a Hickman line is and which should say essentially an IV implant in the muscle in your heart in the vein in your heart. I’m sorry and connect every day to TPN to get nutrients anyways so yeah I wanted to bring awareness and insight to the world basically because you know the government doesn’t even have anything in place to help a single mother that is chronically ill not in my state that I know at least, you step-by-step you do you do you? Do you do all those like those videos are awesome thank you. Keep them coming.
Yes! I discovered how to get rid of the norwex build up, which is what makes the smell. I put them in the Instant pot with some washing soda for about 5 minutes. Then, using gloves I ring them out while hot. I repeat the process a few times and they are like new!
First of all - I’m loving the yellow apron! It made me happy seeing you didn’t get rid of it and you are definitely rockin it my friend! My favorite things to clean my counters with are the travel norwex cloths or a simple rag and thieves solution from Young Living. I had no idea it smelled so much like fall! I’m a clean-as-you-go kind of chick so it does erk me when my oldest leaves a trail of things…my toddlers…they’re another story lol. I just have to accept more of their messes and I honestly clean up after them all The time. A clean(ish) space helps me relax and think. I live in an unfinished home also and I find myself constantly putting Things back where they belong. I love that you spoke about contentment because that’s something I’ve struggled with since moving to this home. Not the most unfinished place but the biggest unfinished place. I’m grateful my husband is a handyman at least. Speaking of my husband he asked me where y’all lived and I couldn’t remember exactly 🤔 anyways, thank you for wearing your super cheery apron! I’m going to paint my door a soft cheery yellow in honor of you! ❤️ you are such an encouragement to me and have been since I was first introduced to your Channel! So it would be a sweet reminder ❤️ thank you sweet momma! You’re doing good things and I am so encouraged! I even told my husband you help me with my wardrobe 🥰
The scene of you discussing with the boys ghe state of their room is my life too 😂😅I have 3 in one room and it is disaster and smells weird!! Why does their room stink?
Hehe! Thank you for telling me it's not just me, lol! Boys rooms do get stinky, kids rooms can in general. Dirty socks, not changing sheets when asked to, dirty laundry not done on time, but rugs especially are a source of dirtiness because they don't know many cleanliness practices yet and are still learning. Sometimes my kids will spill things and not think it's a big deal until it goes to smelling, lol! So many reasons.
A friendly note that I recently discovered that a lot of essential oils are toxic to pets, particularly cats. So I can no longer use the typical cleaning scents like lemon or eucalytpus. I wish I had found out sooner so I'm leaving this comment here to help anyone who is ignorant of this, like I was. ✌
Womans work never done.....i remember first time i realized it. I said " honey ,your home, wont you tell me the house looks great? He said, " why? Thats the way it should look every day...lol if only he knew how todlers can destroy order in minutes.
It's true, a woman's work is never done. Men don't walk in our shoes, so they don't often understand. It helps to give the husband a good amount day Fathering days where you go take a break and go thrifting or out, leaving him with the kids. It helps them to bond and helps him understand. When I started doing that my husband was appalled at all that goes on and more appreciative, lol!

Hello Katie! I just filmed a video on this! It will be publishing soon, in October!
I love her longer videos
me too....they are MY reward for doing my house work LOL
The video length is definitely worth the time. I'm actually watching it a second time. Lots of good tips in here.
Awesome, thank you!

Great tip, thank you for sharing this!
Love me some Scandish Home and Noemi. If she ever decides to do a cookbook, I'm gonna get it. 😉 Congratulations on the makeup vanity. That's a gorgeous piece of furniture and the price was phenomenal. 👍
Yes! Thank you!
These are my favorite type of videos! Real, practical and motivating ❤
I enjoy your vids! Your home is so cozy and cared for. I feel inspired to clean now!
Thank you so much, Jamie!
Great video ❤
Love this one! There is so much useful information. I’ve saved it in 3 places so it doesn’t get lost. Thank you!
Oh my goodness, 3 places, that is awesome! I'm so glad you found it THAT helpful, that's a big deal, yay! And thank you!
@@mountainmamashome of course, this was a good one! Thanks again for being here 🫶🏻
I don’t want this comment to be too long, but this video was honestly so encouraging to me.
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Proverbs 22:6 ESV- is not just about God and faith, but to train them how to take care of themselves when they leave your home and that includes both males and females because these are the time we are in right now.
you are so, so right!
Literally as your kids were banging on the drums in the video my kids started banging on the piano in the other room. 😆 So relatable.
When that scene was going down I knew it would be so relatable, lol!
Thank you for the great tips! I love your editing style. 🙏🏻🫶🏼
Thanks so much! 😊
I love this ,you are so real!! I watch so video's where they have six or more children and their houses do not looked lived in. Thank you for all the tips and recipes for homemade cleaners. God bless!
Thank you so much!!
You’re an amazing momma!
Thank you so much!! I love my kids!
I love watching your videos every morning as I get ready for the day. Thank you for being such an inspiration ❤
Thank you for watching!
I just love your videos❤
🙌🏼
Thank you from the depths of my heart!❤ You gave me an "AH HA" moment. I hate wearing my rubber gloves. I have an internal battle every time I look at them, and now I know why. They are hot pink, and I am not a hot pink girl! You have given me permission to spend a little extra the next time on a more subdued, calming color:)
Awe, thank you for sharing this!
Thank you so much for this video! It's such an informative video and i love the fact that you keep up with the messes but your home still looks lived in. Thank you for the homemade cleaning products too I'm definitely going to be trying them.
You're so welcome, thank you for sharing and for the sweet words!
❤️thank you for inspiring me. I too am a homeschooling adhd mama🙏
You are welcome, I'm so glad you feel inspired here!
Great Monday motivation!
Thank you
Really looking forward to watching this.
❤ xo
You are welcome, thank you for being here, Jackie!
With your ruggables not laying flat - I often put ice cubes on the corners of new rugs that want to curl. I haven’t tried it with ruggables, but might be worth a shot.
Unfortunately, with this it isn't just the corners, it's the entire sides and ends. They're awful!😫
And Happy Autumn🍁🍂🍃
Love, Light, and Blessings
Thank you!
I would love to purchase the DIY cleaning recipes in a printable format. I still love my paper 😂 and I can’t remember a thing since hitting 45. Maybe a cute one pager I can laminate and hang in the kitchen or laundry space?
You are so funny! I totally have done that too with the sheets! 😂
😂
I love everything in this video! ❤
Thank you so much!
❤❤❤
Where do you recommend getting essential oils from, for cleaning as well as for topical use and diffusing?
Christopher's Originals has a line by Wholistic botanicals that I know is good. I do not recommend Plant Therapy or DoTerra as I've had bad experiences with both. Personally I've used and love Young Living since the 90's. If you would like, you are welcome to look at joining me. My share link is www.youngliving.com/us/en/referral/910713
Young Living just opened up and made more ways to purchase, just FYI.
So I’m watching this video and trying to straighten up my kitchen. I went to put a box of foil back in the cabinet where I store bags, foil, etc. And I found a bag of a half eaten danish I apparently just put in there while cleaning. I’m thinking I may have some ADHD as well.
😂
Hello, I want to say thank you for how you like went over what you think you need in your doorway entryway and what not long story short I don’t have a mother to show me how to set up my Home so I’m lost as to what to have in my home I am 38 years old. I do have three children, and I am currently, chronically chronically ill and let’s just say not having a mom to show me or person to show me how to and what a mom needs and her home. What a person in general needs or how many of each item a person should have of a certain thing or things in their home isawesome and the homemade cleaners like I’m striving to be that homemaker mother, even though I’m chronically ill, even though I am single, even though you know, it’s not the same as yours I’m very thankful for people like you
You are welcome! I'm sorry to hear about your illness. I pray the Lord heals and carries you through!
Is the planner on the website printable or hard copy?
Printable ☺
Oh, I am right with you on lost norwex cloths. 😡 I've had mine for a long time too. Tips on how to refresh them, sometimes they smell strange?
Yes! I discovered how to get rid of the norwex build up, which is what makes the smell. I put them in the Instant pot with some washing soda for about 5 minutes. Then, using gloves I ring them out while hot. I repeat the process a few times and they are like new!
Deuteronomy 23:14 helps me
Thank you for sharing! That is a good one!
I just have to accept more of their messes and I honestly clean up after them all
The time. A clean(ish) space helps me relax and think. I live in an unfinished home also and I find myself constantly putting
Things back where they belong.
The piece of trash in the room felt too real and relatable 😂❤️
Hehe, I figured it would! Kids be kids!
The link to the planner isn't working 😢 it says the site isn't secure?
It will say that if you need a browser update.
We aren't the only ones 😅
A friendly note that I recently discovered that a lot of essential oils are toxic to pets, particularly cats. So I can no longer use the typical cleaning scents like lemon or eucalytpus. I wish I had found out sooner so I'm leaving this comment here to help anyone who is ignorant of this, like I was. ✌
I don't know how chemical safe this is but rubbing alcohol will remove paint from walls sink etc very little required to remove
You need to do grocial hauls
Womans work never done.....i remember first time i realized it. I said " honey ,your home, wont you tell me the house looks great? He said, " why? Thats the way it should look every day...lol if only he knew how todlers can destroy order in minutes.
It's true, a woman's work is never done. Men don't walk in our shoes, so they don't often understand. It helps to give the husband a good amount day Fathering days where you go take a break and go thrifting or out, leaving him with the kids. It helps them to bond and helps him understand. When I started doing that my husband was appalled at all that goes on and more appreciative, lol!
Yikes. That thumbnail gutted me 😬😬
I'm getting better with them. Thumbnails are sooooo hard for me, lol!
