I love that idea!!! I also believe that she has the possibility of making each song sound appropriate for each personality of the film that the song comes from. She is indeed an actress who can take on various voices. An amazing director working with her would make that album a smash hit. “Halle Sings the Songs of Disney” or “Halle Sings Disney”.

I loved that she backed of the belt on the "they are" and flipped the note and ran off it because, for me , it was giving us everything without giving us what we expected. She was so angelic in this performance and I genuinely loved her version of this song , particularly as a solo number as opposed to a duet. Her talent knows no bounds ❤
I think what she was saying was that “the yard” was not even belted it was actually more of a softly, mixed voice note. And she wanted her to continue belting it out the way that she did on the “Can you feel the love tonight!” Climax.
@@Rosannasfriend oh yeah I get that, but I think it plays to soften the ending to give the last higher notes the angelic feel , I think if she did a big heavy belt , the transition to the ending would've been a little jarring. Just my thoughts , I love Audrey's videos she's a great coach 😍

Another great vid. I think she didn't go for a bigger belt because this performance was her first performance after the Little Mermaid cast announcement and it was for a Disney tv special, and also I think her first televised solo performance - I think they wanted audiences to ease into her and feel she could be 'Disney' , even though she had some fun with some riffs, they wanted to save it for the "part of your world" debut. IF she would've been giving these belts she probably would've got more backlash and deemed to be sounding too r&B for Disney (and that would be the nicest way they would say it. )
Even for her r&B audience, stylistically we're used to her giving a great falsetto anyway and her sister Chloe going for the heavier notes and belts. This performance was to give Disney and Chloe x Halle fans enough of what they expect.

Halle is a chameleon. I can’t remember if it was Ella Fitzgerald or not. But she sung one of those jazzy songs and floated. I can’t wait for her to release music. I have no clue what it’s gonna sound like.
Agreed. With Chloe it was easy to think her songs would be sultry because that’s kinda how it was when she was doing covers on social media. But Halle does some of everything including Amy Winehouse so I’m stumped on her sound but think maybe jazzy? 🤔 I have no clue and I love that!

I’m also curious if she will let Chloe produce anything so Chloe can actually be eligible for award nominations. It’s awful to me that they can get awards if the produce their own album

Nah i completely disagree. I think it was a much better idea to do that softer belt at the end. Because if she gave her all for a more heavy belt, it would've been much harder for her to modulate into that beautifullll higher run at the very end. Also that softer belt was so pretty in and of itself, very princess-like.

There was a time when Disney released pop and classic versions of there songs. I think oddly she captures both simultaneously. I also think that she stays in mix voice mostly, almost never full
They still do--at least, they did with Moana--but they don't even touch the incredible pop versions of the 90s that regularly topped the Billboard charts, so I understand why they've gone away from it. But I honestly think Halle can singe-handedly reintroduce that era with a throwback to when jazz vocalists did albums of musical classics ("Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Gershwin Songbook" for example)

I loved this reaction!! And i knew exactly what you meant on that “they are”…my old choir teacher was on us about that and keep open vowels bc you can be borderline flat if you aren’t careful! (Not that she was!!!) and she did explain how it changes what the word/words are trying to deliver! And you did just say about her closing in more so on her consonants, and in the way she chose to sing the “are” …personally i believe that’s why it had to come out that way and why ofc her mouth was positioned that way. I, TOO, was waiting for the powerhouse & fullness of the belt…but her version was most definitely sweet & surprising but i absolutely understood and noticed what you were saying‼️ and you said theatre background? Yeah that’s all about projecting and getting the back of the building to hear you still WITHOUT a mic right on your mouth(in some or most cases) so it’s surely understandable for your ears to prepare for that belt🙌🏽🙌🏽 bc that delivery is for sure strong and controlled, but not as FULL as a broadway/theatre type belt
I loved her dynamics and vocal strength shown in this song, she has so much control over her own voice while making it all look so effortless. It’s AMAZING. So dreamy. She really is a princess (or SIREN) to me whenever she sings✨🙌🏽

Have you tried to watch Cloe × Halle Where Is the Love performance at the Grammys in 2019? If not, you should watch it. That's the performance the director and producer of Little Mermaid watched that made them want Halle to audition for Ariel. She was the first to audition and she made them whole room cry. I can't wait for her original song she wrote and her starring in the Color Purple musical which comes out later this year.

Please stop comparing Halle's singing to Pop Music. Halle is an R&B Artist! Her style of singing isn't all unique. What's different is that Halle is AMAZING doing it & has a ETHEREAL voice.
On another note...The style of singing in a lot of old musicals bore us to tears. Not all of them but definitely those bland ones that are performed without giving you the emotion of what's happening. Example: The not bland song 'I Will Always Love You' was written & performed by Dolly Parton (love) for a musical, but when Whitney Houston put her spin on it for ' The Bodyguard'....Her emotion & style put it on another level. Hope I'm describing it right. For me, I've always liked 'Part of Your World' in the cartoon but Halle's style pulls so much more emotion from me. The best thing was Halle being able to put her own touches into the song.
