Definitely need to retry the Smithwick's again especially with the changing pallete. You should try a Smithwick's on draught as Culzy says in a bar where Smithwick's is flowing. Its a lovely pint.
4:45 nail on head. It’s an easy drinking red ale. Perfect for sessioning all night long or at a wedding or work event or something. Could drink a dozen pints of smithwicks and be fine but a dozen pints of Guinness I’d be fairly fucked.
Lads some points to note: The pint bottle is miles better than the can When drinking at home u need to poor into a glass than has a vitaliser on the bottom i.e a smithwicks glass lol! The glass is important with smithwicks also it should be served very cold at home. Like the way yous are trying it there is doing it no favours. You wouldn't poir a Guinness into a heiniken glass would ye.
I had a pint of smithwicks from an Irish bar in San Fransico, and to be honest it was incredible. Bartender recommended it and I had never heard of it. Its something i'd get a pint of if im at a bar but honestly a solid pull of Guinness is much more of a treat for me.
Just my 2 cents - 3 smithwicks in 3 different Dublin bars were all vile. I'm from Belfast and drink smithwicks like fuck and a lot of us would ask for a smithwicks with a guiness head just to add the creaminess and kept a head throughout. I'm the same in that I'd have 2-3 guinness as a loosener then slam on the smithwicks. Ice cold cans are stunnin' and I'll tell you what a smithwicks shandy with brown lemonade on a summers day is life saving! Love the content squad keep it lit.
They're more consistent in the large bottles, but the pints do vary a lot from one pub to another. I loved the Kilkenny beer, but can only get it in offlicences in cans now...
I drink Guinness during the Winter for the cold nights in the pub with the fire going, and Smithwicks during the summer when I'm out in the beer garden and sun shining
I used to get back to Cork City about 5 or 6 times a year & always drank the Smithwicks, only because if I drank any of the stouts back over, I then wouldn't be able to drink them back here in London.
I couldn’t help but notice you are trying to compare Smithwick’s & Sons Ireland with other beers. I don’t think that is fair. It’s incomparable to any beer I’ve ever had. A few years ago I picked up Smithwick’s and it was love at first taste. It’s incomparable, blokes. Cheers from the states.
The Guinness Guru Honestly incredible, just topped with a nice creamy head. Most barmen might not appreciate it if they’re flat out but definitely give her a try on a quiet night or if you know your barman well
If you want to know about smithwicks and how it actually should look in a pint glass then check out this video ua-cam.com/video/r_NGoBwGXxI/v-deo.html It's a carbonated red ale. Why the hell would you be comparing it to stout 😹
He has tried some crafts and hates them, he's a young lad that hasn't acquired an appreciation for flavoursome beers yet just creamy plain beer like Guinness Kilkenny Murphy's etc
Rebel Red red ale from Cork and Kilkenny from Guinness are way nicer they're not as carbonated. Smithwicks is way too fizzy which spoils the taste and experience. Much nicer and less carbonated on draught though. But It's super overrated as a red ale and definitely not the best one out there.
Was a fan of smithwicks until I discovered Guinness. Guinness is better. Stout is the best. If I could drink Beamish in the States it would be the only thing I'd drink.
The word Dirty knacker it just sums up all I need to know about Ireland do you know how insulting the word knacker is to travelling people everywhere I will be reporting you to UA-cam
It’s a carbonated ale, it’s older than Guinness from Kilkenny and it’s a great drink and national treasure
Was from Kilkenny
@@oscarosullivan4513 Visited the Smithwicks factory. Very disappointed that it wasn't manufactured there anymore hahahah
@@RobertBobNolan How do you expect they would fit a museum in

Smithwicks on tap is just heaven

Had my first pint of this stuff a few months ago and loved it!
You can’t really compare an Ale to a Stout as they are very different styles of beer.
Still part of the same family
No other beer is so different between draw/bottle. There is one pub in my town that has Smithwicks on tap and its really great.
@Fionn MacCuill all over donegal too
Kilkenny Irish Ale is miles better! White Gypsy Ruby Red Ale is also my personal favourite (they’re both very creamy!)

I'm a huge fan of Smithwick's on tap. I agree that out of the bottle is fairly disappointing.
I used to get back to Cork City about 5 or 6 times a year & always drank the Smithwicks, only because if I drank any of the stouts back over, I then wouldn't be able to drink them back here in London.
I've drank Smithwicks for years but ales are varied, a bit like craft beers
He’s right smithwicks in my local it’s unbelievable. I could go down the road and it’s muck. Find the right pub and you would get hooked.
Smithwicks or Mcardles lad's??
The pale ale is lovely

Smithwicks with a Guinness head lads, unbelievable

Called a Derry in north Kilkenny
Have you tried it or what?
@@daraghcurran ya, called a pint of "special" in Mayo. Much more popular than regular pint of Smithwicks down here.

Smithwicks is 4.5% in the US
Smithwick’s & Sons Ireland is a ten out of ten. Somebody has to tell the truth.
Cans are dirt, pint bottles delish
Big Guinness drinker, never ever tasted Smithwicks, mite try a can tonight
A great beer.
ON TAP ONLY!
Pints of Derry lads
You need to start reviewing craft beer/ale instead of all this mass manufactured chemical beer

O’ Hara’s stout would still be a pint of plain

Sullivan’s is better as is O’ Hara’s red,Brehon brewhouse red.
Guinness overrated by Irish people Smithwicks much nicer
Large bottle the best cold not ice cold
I think Cadet are still going tbh lol
These actually no nothing about Guinness or drinking I'm general
I love smithwicks red ale and Guinness but smithwicks ale is lighter then Guinness. Guinness is very heavy while drinking and eating a meal.
