this video really shows how Csaba is very knowledgeful of cars from basically every era. My favourite guy when it comes to car tests/shows, keep up the great job !
Yeah but benz was never invented first car , they simply use 'automobile' dictionary to made ppl being convinced with their lies. Btw thomas alpha edison innovated old frame camera after american invent train with coal power plant . Pls be honest to ur self 》 How the heck benz's video was announced with old frame blackwhite ?? 😅 😅 😅 😅 😅 😅 😅 its all setup and being pushed since p0litical character such as g.bush and 06ama crafted by dems/rino , it means this german story = fraud rewriten history.
Dear Car and Driver, Thank you--again--for a most fascinating video of absolutely lovely, vinatge automobiles as part of the Pertersen Automotive collection. A number of these wonderful cars had names quite unfamiliar to me. Which made the tour--as so ably conducted by Mr. Csere--all the more meaningful. I truly enjoy the 30 min. evaluations by Mr. Csere: informative, trustworthy, and compelling. My,'first', car was a 1952 Chrysler Saratoga; I would love to see Mr Csere take one to the road!
No need to pray, you can visit these cars in person any time. We keep them very well cared for, so they can be enjoyed and appreciated for their cultural significance years down the line.
That's actually the exact same Bugatti underneath! It's a Type 57C that was re-bodied by the French government and given to the Shah of Iran as a wedding gift. Gorgeous to see in person.
Went with my dad on Father's day when we took a trip out to California, and I must say the vault tour was awesome! Only downside is you can't take pictures of the car due to security reasons, but highly recommend paying the extra money to do the vault tour.
Just a correction, they say that the Sniper was designed and built by Chip Foose, this is inaccurate, It was designed by Foose, but the construction was handled by Troy Trepanier, owner of Rad Rides by Troy.
No mention of Richard Trevithick here or Cugnot. From 1769. In 1801, after James Watt's earlier patent on "a carriage propelled by a steam engine" had expired, Trevithick constructed an experimental steam-driven vehicle (Puffing Devil) at Camborne, Cornwall. It was equipped with a firebox enclosed within the boiler, with one vertical cylinder, the motion of the single piston being transmitted directly to the driving wheels by means of connecting rods. It was reported as weighing 1,520 kg (3,350 lb) fully loaded, with a speed of 14.5 km/h (9 mph) on the flat. Trevithick ran this for several hundred yards up a hill with several people hanging on to it. Unfortunately, while the driver and passengers were in a pub celebrating the event, it set fire to a shed in which it had been left unattended, and was destroyed. The following year, Trevithick and his partner, his cousin Andrew Vivian, patented a steam coach, the patent also describing other uses for Trevithick's new high-pressure engines. The vehicle was assembled at Felton's carriage works at Leather Lane, London, the engine components having been brought from Falmouth where they were made. You have to look up this bizarre early attempts, there are working replicas still out there puffing around, the Steam Carriage is something one would not really want to risk riding in, it looks terrifying.
Who built the Engine for the 1925 Ford Golden Star? Swapping the heads around so the exhaust exits the side had to be a complicated project. Was it just for looks or did it ever run?
Scootfd3s, I too believe the orange car was an RX-7, in it's last iteration one of the most beautiful cars of the modern era. Grab one if you can, I know I will one day.
2005 I was somewhat disappointed. These were the cars I wanted to see. They had most of Steve McQueen's race cars on display and I didn't care to see them. It was nice seeing Horace Dodge Jr's motorboat on display, had hidden compartments for his prohibition liquor. These are the cars we want to see.
the first car built was in 1867 in canada.. it went 26mph..ford was producing cars in 1908...my grandfather was assembling them at my great grandfathers dealership..they came in on the train in crates the exact size to use as floor boards..the dealership was in northern canada.. by 1912 lots of cars were produced..by 1966 ford and chevy agreed to not compete in drag racing with factory built drag cars.. dodge still did. the bumpers were stamped sheet metal and would shake when the car was running..
The 1929 DuPont cost over $5,000.oo new, if you adjust that for inflation it comes out to $75,472.22. No wonder it didn’t sell well. It still looks great though.
Where do they exercise the cars? Do they literally just drive them out in public, circle the parking lot, or do they have a track? Is the only exercise they get is when they are moved around in the garage and on and off the showroom?
When asked about parking validation, they said, Yes... that'll be $10. I said, That's not validation, that's a fee. The fat, crew cut female behind the desk replied, That's what we call validation. I handed her a twenty and received no change. I said, I gave you a twenty. She replied, No, you gave me a ten. I contended as she reluctantly opened the register, revealing a twenty in the ten tray. I'll never go back.
I trade you any Car for my Chevy Chevette Diesel strait across ! My Chevette will go from 0 to 60 mph in just one afternoon .........and its a real head turner.
Wow, Csaba usually bores me to near death, but here he is incredibly insightful and entertaining. Looking forward to part two!

What a wealth of information this guy has. Great video and presentation.

No need to pray, you can visit these cars in person any time. We keep them very well cared for, so they can be enjoyed and appreciated for their cultural significance years down the line.
Awesome video. Now i really want to go to that museum!
Beautiful Ford GT40!
That's actually the exact same Bugatti underneath! It's a Type 57C that was re-bodied by the French government and given to the Shah of Iran as a wedding gift. Gorgeous to see in person.
Loved it. Great segment!

Austin Spykstra how much was it? Sounds great
Great catch; that's funny. I think that interview banter and posture might not be Csaba Csere's strong suits.
On the contrary... among the Jaguars in our collection, we have Steve McQueen's Jaguar XKSS. It's in the vault, too :)
One word:
Excellent!
Every car guy and girl needs to tour the Peterson Museum. Good video..!!!

Car and Driver should lock the museum director in his office with enough food of course. Do a complete raid of the Vault and show us all the cars.
great vid
Excellent show!
Much better than...I won't say.
Should have shown the engines and started them up.
"It has all the viper underpinnings making it a very reliable car to drive."
Yeah...
god, give us these cars back, and we'll give u the prius
amen
I wish you covered the 1934 LaSalle next to the Bugatti or the Delahaye on the other side. The Rolls was amazing.
so nice
Csaba is the best
I'm not from Cali. I've never been there, would love to visit!

Suggestion for the Petersen Museum: Divide the vault in to one section tourists can take photos and one section they can't.
@7:09, What color is that Ford GT MK III?
Cool . i cant Wait !
This is a Excellent car.
amazing
That Toyota 2000GT.. WOW!!
Very interesting

Love that 2000gt
Mr Burnes, WONDERED WHERE YOU WENT
But that AAR Celica lurking in the background.....
Porsche made a color terra-cotta, gold interior. Soooo sick.

Lots of cars these days cost just as much.
Why would anyone dislike this video?
wait for part two
Is this the same location of the current one? The old facade was so much nicer
Can someone please tell me the name of the car at 7:46.
Max Pratt it's a 1967 ford gt40 mk iv
Thank you Angel Duran for the help.
Where do they exercise the cars? Do they literally just drive them out in public, circle the parking lot, or do they have a track? Is the only exercise they get is when they are moved around in the garage and on and off the showroom?
what's with the blue tennis ball inside the carburetor intake in the 1925 Ford Golden Star??
That is just to keep dust, misc. debris and insects out of the carburetors during storage or transport.
Went to the Petersen Museum... was a big disappointment. Thirty dollars for two people, ten mor for parking.
When asked about parking validation, they said, Yes... that'll be $10. I said, That's not validation, that's a fee. The fat, crew cut female behind the desk replied, That's what we call validation. Panerai Ferrari
...says the idiot who's mother does the same thing to customers.
0:36 what's that orange car? I think it's a RX-7 (FD3s)? maybe i'm wrong, the wheels don't match... hmmmm, can anyone help?
We're at
Ford GT (red one), Toyota 2000 & Rolls Royce phantom.... mmmm got me all aroused hahahahah. All beautiful machines though.
we want to see Packards and more!
37:05 look at how that guy is standing.
my last name is Petersen and I don't even own one car, I guess I should activate some family connections!
Much better than fifth gear :P
out now :o)
I trade you any Car for my Chevy Chevette Diesel strait across !
My Chevette will go from 0 to 60 mph in just one afternoon .........and its a real head turner.
What about earthquakes? Is the museum and vault immune to earthquakes?
Car and Driver owes me a new pair of shorts...
Check out Blade Runner vehicles at the Petersen Auto Museum's Holly Dream Machines exhibit!! ua-cam.com/video/Fq-R5PkNgFQ/v-deo.html
I just got home from the museum
is there a 1969 mustang on display there?
I’ve seen the real only first Benz it was secretly in Greenwich, ct where I live for while
The tennis balls stop debris entering the inlets while parked for long periods. Old hotrodder trick.
I feel dumbed down. By the way, the questions were fed to the curator. Was this intended for much younger audience?
Класс!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wheres Part 2 ?
I'm thinking there had to be some steam powered cars around before the Benz
Max Hoffmann inducted the Porsche 356 Speedster. Porsche brought it by his advice.
Foose car porsche car and the napalm makers car forget his name beautiful love to visit someday
The only place on earth with a more extensive collection than jay leno.
I'd rather loot that vault than any bank's any day of the week, and twice on Sundays. Especially if Eleanor is in there.
Nothing beats the beauty of Ferrari ... but Bugatti is very close :)
+Panerai Ferrari ha...your opinion
Except for when it catches on fire, lol
fugazi, is nowhere close.
WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
The spark plug and explosion in a cylinder was invented by an Italian.
that toyota is so beatyfull
Too bad the camera spends so much time focused on two men talking as opposed to showing more of the vehicles
Why were there tennis balls in the Ford Roadster's Engine?
TheMikeyV fairly obvious, its to stop debris falling in there when the motor is not running. They are removed when running.
Probably to keep dust and other stuff out of them.
all those cars deserve to be driven regularly, fuck preservation, take a fucking picture.
Umair Sheikh eventually an earthquake will level the vault and everything will be lost.
