Can you explain why/when you would use this sprawl an spin technique vs the more standard hips down, laces flat to the mat technique? My boys summer coach taught him to sprawl how you demonstrated in the video but his hometown coaches have never seen it done that way before. I obviously can't speak to the advantages or disadvantages, so I was hoping you could. Thanks
If your opponent already has a hold of your legs, you need to go hips down hard, chest up, shoe laces down, square up and free your legs before you can do any go behind. Legs have to be free before you attempt your go behind or the offensive guy will just cut the corner. His opponent in the video never got a hold of his legs so he stays in more of this downblock athletic position where he can still move left/right and go behind or get a reshot.
