The Voronet Monastery Church, located in Bucovina near the city of Gura Humorului, is probably the most famous church in Romania, since 1993 being part of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage, together with other seven painted churches in the north of Moldova. The church (made up of the altar, nave and narthex) was built in 1488 by the famous voivode of Moldova, Stephen the Great and indoors painted in 1496. The Metropolitan Grigorie Rosca, in 1547, made profoundly changes by adding a large closed porch , painting this porch inside and painting the whole church outside. After the occupation of Bucovina in 1775 by the Habsburg Empire, the monastery was abolished in 1785-1918, the church becoming a parish church. After the unification of Romania in 1918, the church is recognized as a historical monument, but it was not until 1991, after the fall of communism, that it was re-established as a monastery, receiving nuns comunity. Over time, through the exterior painting, two elements become a reference for Voronet, namely the specific color found called "blue of Voronet" and the icon ”The Last Judgment” which completely covers the western wall and through which the church receives the renown of "Sistine Chapel of East ". The video, with explanations in the subtitle, presents the monastery as a whole and reviews the exterior and interior painting of the church of the Voronet Monastery.
Music: The Psalmodia choir with the songs "Aliluia, here is the Bridegroom" and "Dawn-spring"
