I am a Trini in LA. We or should I say me, need people like Marla to come make roti. Roti wraps will give the Mexican burrito a run for their money. It was enjoyable looking at you ladies make my favorite roti.
Ha! Never seen my father make any.. My mother cant either.. I badly need a tawa to practice them as someone asked me to make some dhal puris for him and his family one day.. non stick pot will have to do for now!
In MRU we boil d dhal n add cumin wen do at home, well dats ol I kno abt it cz I never made it just eat wen mum it bt made it,it also goes well wiv kheer it's a sweet dish, wen we buy it's a bit like Marla recipe,gr8 job both of u :)
Yes, but what is the point of doing that? (Besides what is now a tradition.) You spend all the effort to make paraatha... which not just let people rip it as they eat?
It pains me to see ah trini not cooking roti properly. If a roti does not swell or rise when cooking, it's not a roti, it won't be soft as it should have been. Muy triste.
This has alot of errors do not follow these methods either try Taste of trini or Caribbean pot. Not this. My great uncle made and sold Roti so i know wht the techniques are but this what they did is a mess.

Thanks for sharing. Where to buy that flat pan? What is it called?
tawa or platin. If you can't find one at a west indian store, you can try using a crepe maker or a round smooth cast iron griddle.
please sent me recipe please. gonna try it for the first time. Chez.
