Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation - State Theatre upgrades

Works have officially kicked off on the most significant upgrade to the State Theatre since it opened in 1984.
We met with Senior Project Manager Anna, along with some of the team from Lendlease, NH Architecture and Arts Centre Melbourne to find out more about what’s happening behind the hoarding.
The refurbishment will improve comfort and accessibility, as well as upgrade technology in sound and lighting, bringing the cultural icon into the 21st century.
The Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation will also see the delivery of The Fox: NGV Contemporary - a new gallery dedicated to art and design, significant upgrades to Arts Centre Melbourne’s Theatres Building, and a new 18,000 square metre urban garden for people to enjoy.
