    Oof, that intro reminded me of my grandparents. My grandma especially dedicated herself to church service in a small river valley town. When she passed, she gave the home (two stories) to the church across the street... They bulldozed it for additional parking.

      That sucks but at the same time having more space for more church goers is more useful than a house with sentimental but not much inherent value.

      I have faith in them but there are also liberals and opportunists. I believe they might be on the same page for now but their contradictions and cracks are already showing with their interests coming into conflict with the interests of the people. People call them out for monopolizing the revolution. I hope more people see the light.

      I do like that the show is willing to talk to non-socialists but at the same time they need to have more actual socialists on. Someone like Rania from breakthrough news or Claudia de la Cruz from PSL. A theorist like Radhika Desai would be great. It’s ok to branch out but there are plenty of socialists on UA-cam they are missing out on.

      @@a.s.8104While our position on Liberalism is clear, I don't think that we have to make all of our interactions with them into an argument about the correct political path. There are other conversations that can be had that may still be fruitful, even if we have many disagreements. We may have to continue living with misguided liberals for many years to come, and while our stance on their ideology must be firm, I think we can still get along with individuals who are making an effort to be good people

    I'll admit that back my my lib days, I considered Afghanistan the "just" war and complained bitterly about Iraq. Now I regard them both not as "mistakes" but imperial wars that caused many of the problems (ISIS, the Taliban, etc) that the American war machine is dealing with today.
    Should also be noted that Genocide Joe is actively starving the Afghans as punishment for the empire having to retreat.

      The "Syrian Free Army" is also putting ex ISIL leaders in charge while under US supervision. Which isn't surprising to those paying attention but dismounts the whole narrative about being against ISIL.

    I don’t know how a student of guerrilla warfare can say “Hamas is not even a factor in Gaza.” Israel has lost more troops than in any other operation. They haven’t really been able to clear any areas. Obviously it’s an asymmetrical war but also Israel is notoriously casualty averse. I straight up hate when Westerners belittle and portray Palestinians as victims with no agency. That is not how they see themselves and not how they actually are. The ingenuity and perseverance of the resistance in Gaza will go down in history as one of the great resistance movements of the 21st century just as the Vietnamese resistance was in the 21st. That comment makes me think he must not be closely following things on the ground.

      By this metric, the Ukrainians are kicking ass🙄

    • @LuizAlexPhoenix
      @LuizAlexPhoenix 3 місяці тому +7

      @@marcsimard2723 I mean, the difference is that Ukraine has an army and genuinely had more soldiers than Russia in the conflict for the vast majority of the war, relying on NATO beyond itself. Hamas is a militia formed inside a ghetto, they are a resistance faction formed from Fatah (in great part by the zionists fracturing Fatah from the inside and supressing Fatah while supporting Hamas).
      It's less that Hamas is doing well, but that they and other resistance groups are dealing damage while facing an extermination campaign. This is a completely difference context.

    I take a lot of issues with the idea that collaborators are simply people who were oppressed by local powers and sought to ally with external ones. They are by all accounts simply opportunistic bastards who are willing to betray their own people and condemn many to inhumane conditions or death for personal gain. The conditions in Algeria during the French occupation were catastrophic, most Algerians were treated like animals, so when France abandoned them it was no surprise that Harkis got imprisoned or killed as they were actively assisting an occupation that killed millions and made the remaining people miserable to say the least.
    In the end collaborators are much closer to the occupiers than they are to their own people and they always end up learning the same lesson which is that the occupiers do not view them as anything other than useful idiots and will abandon them the second they become troublesome. I find it very hard to have any sympathy towards collaborators, it is actually easier to sympathize with occupiers than collaborators.
    Long story short don't be a collaborator, it never pans out and no one will save you when it falls apart nor feel sad for what happens to you.

    For someone who is a "war nerd", not understanding the strategic retreat of Russian army during SPO from Kiev to allow diplomatic channels to go through is a bit problematic. Worst, though, is not understanding why Iran is the enemy of izrael and daddy amurika, namely because it is the main supporter of the Axis of Resistance through weaponry, moral leadership and strategy.
