Lovely video Dan and the only reason you missed that last shot was that it had fallen over and was presenting the edge rather than the full tin! Cometa is going to be my next springer as soon as enough pennies have been squirreled away.
Hey Ralph! I did think that but I was freezing cold (lost the feeling in my chin in the end I was talking like Jonathan Ross!) but I shan't make excuses.. well not many anyways. 😅 It would've been a cracking shot if I caught that one though eh?
Great video keeping it real bro 👍, I do all my shooting kneeling or free standing, no rest or bipod, makes me concentrate a lot more. Helps to have the zoom set high so I can see how much I am wobbling about 😂
Luckiest more like!! I just wish we never had those flyers! To be fair the Fusion is pretty much idiot proof as shown on the video. Give me a BSA Meteor and I bet 10 year old Airgunner SC would school me. 😂
And at the price too! They're a lovely made rifle and just as accurate if not moreso dare I say it than the "premier" rifles. I'm happy to put a lifetime warranty on mine as they're a fantastic bit of kit.
Fantastic shooting and great video you get more confident and articulate every time I watch. The little adjustment on the trigger nicely executed. Well done on the shots.
EXCELLENT VID CHAP GOOD USE OF THE WOOD PILE CAM WAS AWFULLY CLOSE TO TARGET @ 25yrds!! ANYHOO GREAT VID. BRILLIANT SHOOTING FROM THE SHOULDER....HES A NATURAL. I HAVE A HW 98 AND I MUST ADMIT...THAT GUN LOOKS BETTER THAN THE 98, LOVELY STOCK AND SWEET LINES TO IT.. ADJUSTABLE STOCK FOR 330 NOTES!! I WEEP.... KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK DAN
Hahaha a natural idiot more like! Just a lucky one sometimes! 😂 It's a fantastic rifle Gary and that was with zero tuning as well just a spring guide that'll be factory standard with the next batch of rifles. Even the trigger can be tweaked to be a beautiful bit of kit. If you're in my area Gary contact me on the website and you can have a go at this one or an out of the box rifle. You definitely won't be disappointed. Thanks Gary!
After the first test i went and bought one a great rifle and great video so big silver screw that takes up slack in the first stage and the little black screw is to take up on the trigger final stage i will do that tomorrow take care Dan and you can shoot to 100yards great shooting
Hi Stephen! That's the one, the large silver screw is first stage and the small dark screw is second. Give the small screw 3/4 of a turn out and you'll notice a difference immediately.
@@bigdansairguns83 yes. The Quattro trigger. When I first got it I adjusted trigger a little too much and I could pull the trigger and 3 seconds later it would fire. So yes it is a tricky system but once I finally got it fine tuned it turned out really good.
Love springers always have you just can't beat em.... shoot a hw97kt and hw99 great guns as I prefer Weihrauch. but had others over the years... cracking shooting by the way... 👍👍
Thanks Bryan! Weihrauch makes excellent rifles they always have. I have a 97KT too and it's a lovely rifle. For me I can't choose between the 97, Fusion, Eclipse or possibly my Exocet. I think the only PCP I personally have is a Kuzey K600 because it's too pretty to sell. 😅
Many years ago I had a HW 77. Got a shock first time I chronod it. In those days chronos were very expensive and not many people had them. Anyway 14 ft/lb with Bisley magnums. Had to calm it down.
Hey Johnny! Yep I've had a few like that in the past and it's definitely an eyebrow raising experience. This is why I chrono test every rifle that comes in either new or used as you never know when a weak or hot rifle might creep in.
Very nice shooting mate. I only happened on this video because of your review on the Remington Sabre, but I'm definitely subbed after this fine display of marksmanship 👍🏻
Fantastic video Dan well impressed and yes you are bang on Spring is king. For the price of that gun it's amazing how accurate it is (as we no it can't be you) I shoot both and got to be honest pcp are a bit boring so went back to springer so glad I did if anyone out there won'ts to inprove there shooting then get a springer (we'll impressed Dan) 👍
Cracking shooting Dan, love my cometa compact star, had to use that warranty the spring broke. Sent back fully repaired, no charge. ASI seem to be spot on. These are a much under appreciated gun. Thanks to your reviews I bought the Zbroia Kozak & the Cometa compact star & my Reximex Mito. Love shooting them all, but if I could only keep one, it would be the Cometa. Just wish I could shoot like you. Can you please stop doing you're reviews, as they are costing me a fortune 😂. Thanks again for reviewing affordable equipment for normal people to enjoy.
Hey Brandon! That's one of the reasons why I love A-S-I, it's the backup. Things can happen to any rifle and knowing you have support when it does is wonderful. You've got some great guns there Brandon matey and I agree.. I think the Cometa would be my choice too. Is it a Fenix Compact Carbine or an Ultra Short Carbine?
@@bigdansairguns83 it's the fenix 400 compact star in. 177. With a proper springer shooter in control like you, it as good as a pcp. Just got the Zbroia Sapsan in. 177 set up properly, bought it second hand. If you can get hold of one of them, I love to here your opinion on them. This gun could really upset the big names. Stunning to use and shoots spitfires spot on up to 40 yards. Like you I don't like following the crowd, Fx & Air Arms etc. I like to try something different & affordable. Looking forward to your next review. All the best Dan
I jus knew there was more potential for accuracy in my rifle, which is the Cometa Fusion Premier Star, and in .177 cal. same as the one shown here. Thanks for this Dan. Now, I think I may just be able to adjust this one's trigger too.
Definitely! Have a play with the trigger (focus on the small screw first) and simply unscrew is 3/4 a turn. Even just that makes the second stage much sweeter.
Don’t think springers will die out Dan , I meet some die hard springer people , and some are young , 20 to 40 , that don’t own and never shoot pcp, guns , they don’t run out of air , and with abit of hard work input can be stupid accurate, as you and many others no ,cheers shaneweightman
Great video Dan. One day the planets aligned, the gods smiled upon me and I managed to hit a tin can with a .22 HW45 at 40 yards 8 out of 10 times 😅 Great things are possible with spring guns!
Now THAT's impressive!! I have been well and truly one upped with that one Ed fantastic shooting. Great little gun the HW45 too. I need to get you on here to shoot my springers for me. 😄
Got rid of my Webley and HW35 springers and replaced them with 2 new tuned .177 and .22 BSA R10's but every time I go in my local shop I am itching to purchase another springer in ,177 so maybe I will have a look at these Cometa springers. Tried the BSA springer range but hell they were rough, cocking them all you hear is the spring grating inside the spring hosing, quickly handed them back my local gunshop assistant even he agreed I had made the right choice to dismiss BSA Springers.
I'd like to try BSA's new Meteor. I've heard mixed about the Lightning which is a shame as it's a seriously pretty little rifle. Frankly PapaTube you owe it to yourself to get yourself a proper springer my man. Take a look at either a Fusion or any of the Fenix series of rifles you won't be disappointed. Which Webley did you have?
And you say you can't shoot Ha ha ha Well done Dan great video and I like the way you showed yourself shooting by filming from behind the target. Not many do that so you can't tell if they are cheating or not. Great video really enjoyed it keep them coming and thanks again
Hey Roland! Hahaha I'll need a mortar stand for that I think if you mean sub 12. Still though it'd be a fun video and I can use the excuse of "I didn't miss... it just didn't reach".
It's all a matter of finding the best suited grouping pellets for the particular rifle and a decent scope. A harmonic barrel tuner can also help tighten groups.
100%, I'd also add that you need a rifle that will fit you comfortably which is something that is overlooked at times with rifle designs (especially PCP's).
@@bigdansairguns83 Yeah that's a good point as I have found some rifles have a stock that is too long for my linking, so I have shortened and customised the stock on some rifles.
I have pcp's but my springers make me smile. Any lack of accuracy with either is my fault. Spiringers are more of a challenge but are just as accurate as a pcp. By the way, awsome shooting.
Hey Justin! They're a cracking rifle aren't they? People are finally starting to give Cometa a look which is fantastic. I'd go as far as to say it outshoots my HW97. Thanks Justin and keep up the videos matey!
Good man! It's the best way to shoot in my opinion. That said 100 yards with open sights or shooting with opens in general is very impressive, you're a far better shot than me.
@@bigdansairguns83 well I must confess that these days I sit to shoot due to disability but I doubt despite my previous training that I would be better.
Quality Springer shooting, best I can do with my hw98 is hit paintballs or 1p pieces at 25yds, after that things get a bit untidy, I know it's my age- but some days I wobble like a party jelly.( Only bought the 98 ' cos I was getting bored with the PCP
Wow i got to take me hat off to you mate, thats some cracking shooting, i dont mean any disrespect to any one, but there are some i no that would really struggle to shoot that distance with a Pcp, accurately, well done mate Cheers 👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍👍👍
Haha thanks Casper! The third shot I think missed just low you can hear the "thud" as it hits the metal frame just underneath the table. I don't mind as at the end of the day 2/3 is more than enough for me!!
Hi Ray! It was a tricky one but it's my own fault I should've stood it up more. If you listen to the final shot you can hear it went just a bit low it sounds like it hit the metal frame on the table. Thanks Ray!
I'm starting to get sick of needing to fill my pcps with air and starting to enjoy my springer rifles more. If they made and accurate lightweight bullpup spring rifle possibly with a folding or detachable stock, then that would suit me.
Frankly I will not allow such a slanderous comment to remain on my video page, there were no two guys on a Knoll as can be seen on the video. It was one person, my brother with a catapult.
Great video ...sadly if they include air rifle pellets in the lead ammunition ban ....we're buggered, I use my HW95K .177 ( RWS Superdome ) for pest control Out to 45 yards and target shooting out to 75+ yards .... and there's currently no lead free option that's acceptable for either pest conttol or target work
No way could I hit the broad side of a barn door off hand especially with a sub-12 springer😂 It would be a waste of good pellets. FAC in .22 or .25 from a bench yeah but not off hand. Even in FAC I wouldn’t try it in .177 unless it were heavier slugs. The weight of that .177 pellet gets pushed so easily by the wind I would think it is more luck and guess work for me. 🤦 Glad to see you have a pair and gave it a go.👍 Thanks for the video get away. Stay blessed. Happy Easter from SW Pennsylvania USA. BTW really nice shooting bud.💯
Hey Heath! Thanks for the kind comments mate but don't worry yourself too much.. you haven't seen me try to group freestanding yet haha it's depressing! Sitting down I'm okay.. standing not so much. I've got an FAC springer on my next review coming up which is an absolute beast. It's taking some adapting to I'll put it that way. Can't wait to upload that one! We need to import you over here Heath so you can play with some sub 12 rifles... I'm sure you'll find it most depressing haha. Thanks Heath!
Oh Dan oh Dan, some of the things you say in this could be turned in to something else 😂 but as always great video bud, need a meet up soon been a wile
Blasphemy!! To be fair there's a ton of great budget PCP's on the market you don't need to spend a fortune to get a good one. The humble Kral NP02 is a great place to start.
I don't think they will go any where , a pcp is nice and easy , but they are a pain if you want hourse of fun with out a pesky pump or dive bottle. I uave both pcp and spring and I enjoy both each have good n bad
Well said! Both have their pro's and cons. But from what I've seen those with springers and PCP's usually spend more time shooting their springers. I still believe that if BSA could resurrect the Goldstar it'd be a fantastic rifle.
@@bigdansairguns83 Hi Dan, funny you should mention that. When I was a spotty faced youth I lusted after a Goldstar. Later, when I became officially an old fart the step kids bought me a mint, boxed Superstar (same gun just single shot). It is a beut! First thing I did of course was take it to bits and make it as I thought it should be. At the time I worked in a realy large open factory, 50yd plus clear, ideal indoor range. When a (younger 😊) workmate discovered my plans he proceeded to inform me how I was wasting my time and he would show me how a 'modern' gun would out shoot my antique! You can guess the outcome. Let us just say I have never been asked for a rematch! I still have my Superstar and still love it. I do have a pcp, a Rotax R8. Brilliant gun, use it for bunnies and tree rats, a job it is well suited for. While the SS is fitted with diy iron sights and used for 50yd plus target just for fun. Yes, I watched Quigley! Oh, btw, all 22. Fat fingers, can't use the kiddies sizes😅 Regards, Mark
Hey mate! Nah I just got lucky. The spring guide is an upgraded part from Cometa that replaces the standard plastic unit with a metal one. All new Cometa's should be coming with them.
They're just addictive aren't they Finley? You can't help but keep shooting them, I think it's the challenge and the way that each springer has a different character as cheesy as that sounds. Whereas most PCP's feel dull and muted in comparison.
Wow, makes my 53 yard shooting look pathetic with my HW97K .22 blue laminate. I'm using anything as a rest as I shake and quiver. Nice shooting! I'm not a good shooter at all, amazed at what a quality springer can accomplish with my bad technique.
You don't give yourself enough credit! The Fusion is just ridiculously easy to shoot, you can see now why I've been giving the Cometa's more of a push as they deserve way more recognition.
Hi Dan just a quick question for you buddy ....I'm just getting into the hobby and was going to go co2 but I've decided against it and to go get a remington sabre ...my question is what cal do I get lol ...I'm caught in the middle of the 177 vs 22 debate ideally I want the longer range capability and accuracy but also power if possible what's your take on this ? And can you help a brother out please ?
Hey Silverback! I'll help any way I can. For me (and if you're in the UK) .177 is the better calibre. It's faster so less drop at range and with tests done online it leaves a similar size wound channel to .22 due to the extra velocity causing the pellets to mushroom more. The .22 will shoot slightly smoother due to less stress on the spring and it won't be quite so negatively effected by the wind due to being twice as heavy on average but for longer ranged accuracy it's .177 no doubt. I hope this helps matey.
@bigdansairguns83 hi Dan Really appreciate the advice buddy really helped allot one other question I have is what's better in your opinion (I've watched your reviews on both but can't really decide lol) ? Milbro tracker hunter 177 Or Renington sabre 177
Hi again , I am impressed with your shooting abilities my friend! What really upsets me that the Canadian government will not allow ANY Air rifle that fires above 500 ft per sec , without a firearms certificate! !! What they are afraid of is beyond me , when England allows you to shoot faster air guns? Also , we are forbidden to use modifiers, WHY ? I suppose because the people in charge would prefer to hear the bullets when they come for them ! LOL Such a joke but I guess we can blame Al Capone movies for that, as the generation in charge would all have watched the movies I,m sure ! And considering all the wide open spaces we have it is beyond understanding ! Gun control has come beyond our wildest dreams ! Yet the killing keeps going in and near the larger cities as the criminals do not need to register their firearms ! If it wasn't so ludicrous a person could laugh BUT it isn't and with the government is power now , it has them all in a panic ! But enough of my rant and I say I enjoyed your site a whole bunch !
You do Stuart, frankly I've heard from the Mrs and the kids and they're beginning to get worried about you.. rumours are starting to spread. 😉 In the mean time send me down that Lancia so I can take it for a spin (literally probably... into a tree!). 😂

It would've been a cracking shot if I caught that one though eh?
Great video keeping it real bro 👍, I do all my shooting kneeling or free standing, no rest or bipod, makes me concentrate a lot more. Helps to have the zoom set high so I can see how much I am wobbling about 😂
As I've said before, you are the best I've ever seen with a springer. You should be shooting competitvely. Great video.
Luckiest more like!! I just wish we never had those flyers!
To be fair the Fusion is pretty much idiot proof as shown on the video. Give me a BSA Meteor and I bet 10 year old Airgunner SC would school me. 😂
Cometa need to be applauded for the quality of gun they have produced
And at the price too! They're a lovely made rifle and just as accurate if not moreso dare I say it than the "premier" rifles. I'm happy to put a lifetime warranty on mine as they're a fantastic bit of kit.
Fantastic shooting and great video you get more confident and articulate every time I watch. The little adjustment on the trigger nicely executed. Well done on the shots.
Thanks Kev!
EXCELLENT VID CHAP
GOOD USE OF THE WOOD PILE
CAM WAS AWFULLY CLOSE TO TARGET @ 25yrds!!
ANYHOO GREAT VID.
BRILLIANT SHOOTING FROM THE SHOULDER....HES A NATURAL.
I HAVE A HW 98 AND I MUST ADMIT...THAT GUN LOOKS BETTER THAN THE 98,
LOVELY STOCK AND SWEET LINES TO IT..
ADJUSTABLE STOCK FOR 330 NOTES!!
I WEEP....
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK DAN
Hahaha a natural idiot more like! Just a lucky one sometimes! 😂
It's a fantastic rifle Gary and that was with zero tuning as well just a spring guide that'll be factory standard with the next batch of rifles.
My .25 Hatsan has the trigger adjust. I have it set just short of hair trigger.
@@johnnobody3288 That'll be the Quattro trigger I reckon, they can be tricky sometimes to set up but they're brilliant triggers John.
😅
Great video and great shooting, just got my first springer a HW99s and love it.
Great rifle the 99s. Pretty little thing too.
Evening dan good to see you back.have a good weekend
Evening Winnie, had to get some help from the Spanish to take on the Germans my man but they're doing a cracking job at it.
That’s terrific shooting 👍 and an excellent video.
I may have a good PCP but I won’t be parting with my springer, I love it.
Thanks Nick!
Most people I speak to say the exact same thing, they have a PCP but they spend most of their time shooting the twanger.
Top video and top shooting Dan. I see you are still tempting me with these Cometa's.
Go on Anthony... you know you want to. Does the Mrs really need that holiday more than you need a new rifle?😉
@@bigdansairguns83 🤣
I love springers! Great shooting/video!
Good man thanks Michael!
Amazing shooting there Dan, you'd put many pcp owners to shame at those distances! And what a cracking looking rifle!! Beautiful
Thanks Paul! The Cometa's shoot brilliantly don't they? Who needs a PCP!
Damn good shooting my friend, damn good.
Thanks mate! Lucky as well, I think that one flyer was my normal shooting creeping back in haha.
Good shooting! I'd say that's a pretty accurate springer and thumb up from the U.S. 😊
Thanks Bruce that means a lot!
'Merica!
Very impressive shooting from a great gun
Wow! That was some fantastic shooting mate. Lovely gun as well. Impressed 🙂
Thanks Derek! You can see why I'm so impressed with the Cometa products now can't you? They can even make a mediocre shot like me look good!
Well done. Great shooting.
I still love my Weihrauch HW97
Pretty impressive Big Dan.
Cheers mate!
@@bigdansairguns83 I currently have a Webley Stingray Quantum OS .22. Scope & bipod. Very consistent power and now I have my own chrono
Mate that was bonkers, absolutely brilliant. Thanks
Hahaha that explains me perfectly Iwan! Although there's usually an expletive first. Thanks Iwan!
@@bigdansairguns83 🤣🤣🤣
Very nice shooting mate. I only happened on this video because of your review on the Remington Sabre, but I'm definitely subbed after this fine display of marksmanship 👍🏻
Fantastic video Dan well impressed and yes you are bang on Spring is king. For the price of that gun it's amazing how accurate it is (as we no it can't be you) I shoot both and got to be honest pcp are a bit boring so went back to springer so glad I did if anyone out there won'ts to inprove there shooting then get a springer (we'll impressed Dan) 👍
Great video as always baby! ❤
Thanks babe! xx
hello DAN how are you? another nice content from '' BIG DAN'S AIRGUNS'' . love you . may god bless you and your family .keep it up, bro.
Thanks Rehman!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video buddy that's all I ask. All the best to yourself and your family my friend.
Great review and excellent shooting Dan 👍🏻
Thanks Simon!
@@bigdansairguns83 I'll be precise, and Thanks again.
@@bigdansairguns83 I'd only embarrass myself! 🤣🤣 but seriously have a go with a pistol, you might surprise yourself!
@@VortymLichbane Sounds like a plan Ed I'd love to look at some pistols on here. Co2 gear too.
Nice one, I like springers too.
Good man Baron.
I've always preferred springers, you actually feel like you have fired a gun .Fantastic shooting by the way.
And you say you can't shoot Ha ha ha
Well done Dan great video and I like the way you showed yourself shooting by filming from behind the target. Not many do that so you can't tell if they are cheating or not. Great video really enjoyed it keep them coming and thanks again
Nice shooting Dan! You need to do a 100 yard challenge with the .25👍
Great shots dan👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Jason! I still had both eyes closed but this time I actually hit something!
Great bit of shooting there Dan👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎😎😎
Thanks Alan! Got lucky there I think haha.
I have pcp's but my springers make me smile. Any lack of accuracy with either is my fault. Spiringers are more of a challenge but are just as accurate as a pcp. By the way, awsome shooting.
Nice shooting big man con from Ireland 🇮🇪
I just got a hw97 and I love shooting that more then my bsa r12
Great review as always bud just as gud as my fusion star I bought off u pal, keep punching that paper my friend, Jus, TT-UK 👍

Thanks Justin and keep up the videos matey!
@@bigdansairguns83 and very reasonable priced Dan 👍
Nice video.great shooting 👍😉
Thanks bud!
I've only ever had springers so find all this quite normal but I only ever use iron sights so 100 yards is a bit tricky
Good man! It's the best way to shoot in my opinion. That said 100 yards with open sights or shooting with opens in general is very impressive, you're a far better shot than me.
@@bigdansairguns83 well I must confess that these days I sit to shoot due to disability but I doubt despite my previous training that I would be better.
Excellent shooting fella
@@bigdansairguns83 Yea i agree mate i would be more than pleased with them results, hell yea Cheers
2 out of 3 at just over 100 yards, damn good shooting. And to be fair that 3rd tin was basically a side shot.
I love springers as well I don’t own a pcp just an HW95 and a TX200
Good man and excellent choices too, accurate and very pretty rifles.
This is some impressive shooting and an impressive rifle but rumour has it there was 2 guys on a grassy knoll that actually took the 3 shots 😉
Frankly I will not allow such a slanderous comment to remain on my video page, there were no two guys on a Knoll as can be seen on the video.
It was one person, my brother with a catapult.
@@bigdansairguns83 your brothers a good shot 🤣

Great video dan....tell your brother...he's good with a catapult😅
Next to my hw99s love those cometa rifles triggers
Great video ...sadly if they include air rifle pellets in the lead ammunition ban ....we're buggered, I use my HW95K .177 ( RWS Superdome ) for pest control Out to 45 yards and target shooting out to 75+ yards .... and there's currently no lead free option that's acceptable for either pest conttol or target work
Nice shooting!!!
Thanks bud!

Nice bit of shooting Dan. That's better than my R10 pcp.😢
*Springer power!*
_Id like a pcp one day tho 😁_
Fat fingers, can't use the kiddies sizes😅

Hola Francisco! 4.5mm.
Do you know roughly when they started using the metal guides/top hats? I am looking at a Fusion LT but it might be older stock.
Hey Riyame. It should have the metal spring guide if the serial number ends with 23 and onwards.
@@bigdansairguns83 Awesome, thank you for the reply.
Great gun, great tune and trigger and an even greater shooter!
What's that spring guide your talking about?
Hey mate!
Nah I just got lucky. The spring guide is an upgraded part from Cometa that replaces the standard plastic unit with a metal one. All new Cometa's should be coming with them.
For me there's just something about single shot an I think it makes you focus a bit harder too.
Absolutely Chris. I find it's more fulfilling too.
Sorry for the Late one mate at work .. enjoyed the Video .Nothing on at 1am 👍🏻👍🏻Don't they Normally give a Gnome a fishing rod Not a .177 a Rifle 😂😂😂
Hahahaha that's the kindest thing I've been called all day! A big freaking gnome that's for sure. 😂😂
My Daystate, Air Arms, JTA, and Brocock PCPs don't get nearly as much use as my Weihrauch and Diana springers.
Oh my god @25 yds ,I couldn't do that even if I had the best gear in the world hahah well done fantastic
You don't give yourself enough credit! The Fusion is just ridiculously easy to shoot, you can see now why I've been giving the Cometa's more of a push as they deserve way more recognition.
Wow awesome shooting, any tips on having a stable hold on your gun when shooting?
@bigdansairguns83 hi Dan
Really appreciate the advice buddy really helped allot one other question I have is what's better in your opinion (I've watched your reviews on both but can't really decide lol) ?
Milbro tracker hunter 177
Or
Renington sabre 177
Good skills 👍
