We just came back and stayed for 7 days at Iberostar Playa Pilar and we loved it so much especially the beach and the people. We’ll be back for sure. :)
You're welcome! We've travelled to many places all over the world and we always talk about Cuba having some of the most stunning beaches. Enjoy your holiday there!!
Excellent video. I went to this resort and thoroughly enjoyed it.The following year we went to the Iberostar Ensenachos in Cayo Santa Maria. Both resorts are good. One is new while the second resort is older.
Thanks Chris. We really enjoyed out time there as well. Almost time for another trip come this winter. Hard to believe it was 2.5 years ago! I am sure they have improved the grounds since we did this video.
We went to IPP Jan 2019. It was amazing. This video helped us decide on this resort and we are glad we did. You captured it well. Thank you! Plus 25 C and above all week in Cuba while it was -25 C and below back home!! Loved it
Hi Brian, we're so happy that we were able to help and that you also enjoyed your time! (I have to admit, we are just a little envious that you were able to escape the -25C!!)
@@JandCToronto There were 3 days while we were gone that were -35 to -40 C where we live in Northern Ontario. I love your travel channel and look forward to new content coming soon. It's beautiful up here too!
@@bakwalker40 We love hearing that people appreciate our content! Thank you so much. We will have new content soon. We have a couple of new vlogs to post, but are in the midst of re-doing our website and are waiting until it's done. We're also full time Realtors that we also produce content for (ua-cam.com/channels/bS9L4X2KFcXjJhx-bmNnMA.html), so that has definitely slowed these videos down. We're getting terrible mixed snow/ice weather in Toronto right now, hopefully it's not as bad in Northern Ontario. Stay warm!
@@bakwalker40 Hi! We're going to Iberostar Playa Pilar in 3 months and was wondering if you have any excursions to recommend? Would love to hear them! Thanks in advance!
Hi Scott, We also have a written review on TripAdvisor, if you're interested: www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowUserReviews-g666625-d9703487-r456366066-Iberostar_Playa_Pilar-Cayo_Guillermo_Jardines_del_Rey_Archipelago_Ciego_de_Avila.html Safe travels and have fun!
Thanks mser! Your first trip out of Canada, ever? You are going to love the beaches in Cuba!! Have fun when you go... let us know how you liked it! And don't forget to go to Playa Pilar (the close by beach.)
Many thanks guys. Really useful to get an idea of the layout and some advice ahead of time. We're heading there as a party of 13 (3 families) in just under 2 weeks.
We just got back from the same resort and though it is in need of some repairs, they are working on it and I agree with what you said and would recommend it. We were in room 228 and it was great to have an ocean view. A screen door would have been nice so we could leave it open to hear the ocean but oh well. Thanks for posting.
Hey Jess! The larger beach was a distance from the hotel. It was about a 20 minute walk on the road but they also had a shuttle that went there. Or you could walk through the water most days because it is really beautiful sandy bottom. The spa access was free but you pay for the services. If you go, have fun!!
Hey there buddy! Looks fantastic, We're off in July and staying here also. Was just wondering if the hotel or even some of the locals offer some sort of diving activities? Such as snorkeling, or anything that's shark related? Random i know but i want to make the most of Cuba. Thank you buddy!
Hey there! There is a place called Coco Diving Centre close by to the hotel that offers diving. I don't think it's with sharks though. It's at the Melia hotel so it's a short cab ride from the Iberostar. www.cayocococuba.net/scubadiving.html The prices are in CUC (Cuban Convertible Peso) which was on par with the US dollar when we were there. At Playa Pilar (close by the Iberostar Playa Pilar), they offered snorkelling excursions, so they may also have connections for scuba. Worth checking out. Have fun! - Cheryl
We're happy to help, Steve. Enjoy your time there! We also did a (too thorough?) review on Trip Advisor if you would like to read it: www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowUserReviews-g666625-d9703487-r456366066-Iberostar_Playa_Pilar-Cayo_Guillermo_Jardines_del_Rey_Archipelago_Ciego_de_Avila.html
Hey Giovanna! We hope you have as good a time as we did when we visited. It's hard to believe it has been over 2 years! It would be interesting to see what has changed since then. I think they were still working on a few areas so hopefully will be even better. Let us know how it went when you return!
Hi guys, awesome video! Thank you! Me and my fiancée have just booked this resort for our honeymoon in October, really looking forward to it! Seems random but do you guys remember what type of power socket they use here? We're coming from the UK so ours definitely won't work and people have said they use the thin 2 blade sockets and the 2 rounded pin sockets
Hi Ryan, It's 220V but we were able to plug our N.A. 110V plugs in. The outlets were clever in that they fit different pins. Our GoPro battery charger overheated (obviously wrong voltage), but everything else was okay and our hairdryer was dual voltage. I'm trying to attach a photo here, but apparently I cannot! I found an article on TripAdvisor that seems to be from the UK as well: www.tripadvisor.ca/Travel-g147270-c104286/Cuba:Caribbean:Electricity.html I hope this helps. Have fun in October! (And congratulations too!)

Thanks! Unfortunately we only have experience with Playa Pilar. I think MGM has a larger swath of beach. MGM, because it's so new, is probably working out the kinks as well. This could be something to consider. Good luck and which ever you choose... have fun!
Hi Guys,We’ve Just booked up today for our Honeymoon in October, question is their certain dress codes for the restaurants? Can you exchange Pound Sterling into local currency?Thank you
Hi Ryan! There is dress code for the a-la-carte restaurants. The usuals - no shorts and a golf shirt or dress shirt. And they absolutely do have a currency exchange desk. We were able to change our Canadian dollars easily. I am fairly certain Pound Sterling will be okay. I also have this website, which should be helpful: www.tripadvisor.ca/Travel-g147270-c69372/Cuba:Caribbean:Currency.And.Credit.Cards.html
This one looks really nice, but I do think that the beach at Playa Paraiso is nicer and calmer. Thanks alot.
