He, I Believe
Live in Yokohama, January 8, 1990
Feels So Right Tour 1990
I’m crying 😭. I don’t think even Whitney understood the magnitude of her voice. She knew she had a gift but she wasn’t truly aware of how her voice made people feel. She is the only singer in this world that can make me cry. Hearing her sing this song made me feel like I was in heaven sitting at the feet of God. Her gift was inexplainable, unfathomable, inconceivable. God is real, it’s evident by the voice of Whitney Houston.
trust me she knew. she described opening her eyes one time in the church after her rendition of a gospel hymn and stunned to see people crying, others on their knees , others bursting out in tongues. that thing that hits the whole congregation and you realize whatever it is ,is way beyond you everyone has it and its supernatural. Robyn describes it in her book too.
Такие же чувства 😢 Она была Ангелом 🙏🏻 Бог ее забрал обратно…
Whitney’s curse was that her voice couldn’t bring her the joy it brought all of us
@@emiller1583 I believe that
3:20, “...and even thooouugghh it maaaakkkees Himmm sad...”. Do ya’ll hear the RESONANCE???? Her chest voice was absolutely breathtaking!!!
I wish Clive Davie would have let her record a gospel album around 1987-1989
I think that’s why she got with Cece and Bebe to record with them
Me too! If you have Spotify.. there is a new Gospel album released, a compilation of the Christian music that she sang.
@@I-AM-BELIEVER exactly, my thought as well ❤
For me, the most beautiful voice ever

That is why Whitney Houston is The Voice
WOW. Just discovering this performance now. Completely blew my mind. Those extremely high headnotes at the end around 6:20 ... I mean, I thought I'd heard every note she ever sang. And then here's this performance with this absolutely divine notes. She was literally reaching for the heavens and the heavens were kissing that throat. Just astonishing.
I agree.
Many of her performances aren't globally known yet to prove she's the GOAT singer.
2:21 & 6:12-6:40 Was PHENOMENAL!!! The Extent Of Her Gift Was Just Breathtaking!!!
#TheVoice
I can't stop listening to those high notes towards the end - that head voice had to be godsent!!!
She was channeling Cissy in this performance😭🙌
Always!
Sing Whitney!!! Those head notes at the end are out of this world!
This is the first time in the history of me listening to this woman’s voice that I’ve heard her hit notes that high. Like I’ve always said, just when you think you’ve heard all she could do, she does something else that just blows your mind all over again. She was just magnificent! #RIPQueen
The thing is has hit these notes before but it's HOW she hitting them on this song. She really could play with a note like no one else.
@@ogkush1916 Yup! And I've never heard her hit them this way until now
ogkush1916 when has she hit these before?
@@mariahwhitneycelinejanetmadona bb5? And C6? Many times. Literally many. Listen to her tours and performances you will hear them. Like I said it's just how she glided up and held the note.
@Isaiah King I think the other thing to be fair is that her voice was unlike others. In the sense she had a fully rounded voice n timber even as she ascended her timbre remained. When j first listened to her I sometimes would fail to know she had hit a high F etc because it sounded so much like her mid voice. Homogeneous is think is the correct terminology. PLUS unless in the mood she never sang high for the sake of it only for the music or her mood.
damn those unusually high notes she just put in there, had more floored. The flip from chest to head voice is just insane in this woman.
From 6:34 to 6:41, It's not just about she hit a C#6 or Eb6, it's the way she produced the notes. The combination of notes and her tone make it even more perfect
Other singers can hit A6 C7 E7, but they will not sound beautiful like Whitney
Nippy hit a E7 and F7 before effortless. I think she could go higher too.
@@klion3924 Can you provide either the link of those performances ? I’d love to hear her singing those notes.
@@jobuck879 please ignore kmaur, Whitney does not sing in collapsed registers
@@odumosuolusegun2781 Lol. Ok
@@jobuck879 Whitney has went higher than most think!
She sang this song in so many freaking ways in different concerts and every performance of it makes my jaws drop! She was really the best vocalist of her generation!
Those sopranos notes at the end 😍 I loved when she went up there.
6:17💪🏽💪🏽 & 5:15 for the belts. She has so much agility up there.
Growing up I experienced a really tough childhood. Whitney Houstons voice and her music has been my saving grace. The greatest can never be compared
6:39 Not once have I ever heard her do that.
she has done a lot of C#6s and even Eb6.
Then u havent watched 80s Whitney😭
Besides the head voice notes, let’s talk about 4:19 That run and tone 😍
And the ad lib at the final
Pe dro where is it?
7:10
Pe dro oh, it’s sounds similar to a run she did before in the love medley in 91
@@onedollarbleach6891 yes,the london one right? I saw that aproach in so much diferent ways she have imense creativity
God Almighty! She was on fire that night! I think that's the best she's ever sung. She used every weapon in her arsenal! It's criminal that Arista didn't do live recordings of her concerts like they did for Dionne.
Whitney was just rare. I love her then now and forever. My favorite singer ever.
Whitney Houston's voice takes me to places anew, some place I've never been before. That's why she's my favourite of all. I listen to Whitney on a daily basis. Love u Whitney always & forever 💃🎤🎷🥁🎸💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
When you go on a Whitney binge on youtube and come across all these amazing performances - there's no doubt in my mind I will never hear such an anointed voice in my life time and the tone she had will never be duplicated! She was a masterful performer!
I'm replaying those last parts over and over again. I had thought I have heard all of Whitney's high notes but she keeps on surprising me 🤯❤
No one can keep a cap on that woman....I found an Eb6 ion 1999...she is not supposed to sing that high in 1999 , yet she did.,..
@@odumosuolusegun2781 Her range is endless!
Amazing!! Those head notes at the end are phenomenal - only Whitney!
I didn’t know she sang this song even on the I’m your baby tonight tour🔥🔥. That’s why IYBT era is my fave. She had the dynamics of both debut, sophomore and bodyguard
Very true
this isnt the IYBT tour loll
@@ppgenterprise7950 Lol technically it wasn't but honestly this tour had like 11 dates and took place when she released IYBT. So I consider it that😂
@@malibongwexulu6409
True. Your right
It technically is that era being honest. Arista literally had her on tour after tour even in the midst of recording, to the point she even sang songs and said “this is from my upcoming album”.
@@malibongwexulu6409 Yeah and she sung some songs that later appeared on IYBT on this tour (mainly All the Man That I Need but also Higher Love, which Japanese fans got when they bought the album there).
I can't stop replaying that GODLY opening note
I like how we’re all trying to figure what notes she hits at the end. I was so surprised wen she went up there!
YES VERY SURPRISED,MAYBE B5? C6
Pe dro yeah, I think so too. I hope it’s in the sixth octave!
Looks very high
Its amazing that this is after that night that she was a little bit sick
Pe dro what show was she sick on?
Never knew she still sang this in 1990..one of my fave song from her..i love how she totally changed this version
Jesus!!! Praise God Whit.. Those Head notes at the end. Lord!!!!!.. Anytime she sings for the Lord that anointing will push through anything.
Omg! I’d imagine this is how angels sing. There aren’t any words to describe her voice;instead, it’s a feeling deep down. The Voice!!! Thanks so much for uploading this, and please never remove it. I want to listen to it over and over.
That high note is angelic
That range!!!!!
I always come back to this.. it’s been in my head for 2 days.. I gotta figure out that highest note when she hits it and does the descending run… this is a gem
c#6/db6 here
OUT OF THIS WORLD !
She sounds just like 1986 this is crazy
Yeah those high head notes were definitely taking it back to 1985-86!
lots of powerful high notes!
Imagine all these special treats of hers in hd sound - I'm not sure I would leave my home cinema :D
Whitney at it.
Such a treasure.
6:40!!! what was that?! My God...
Undeniably the best!
This is a treasure
THE HIGH HEAD NOTES! 😳👏
People in the comments shocked at those super high head notes at the end (me included lol), but let's all remember her mother (aka vocal coach) is the legendary Cissy Houston. How many times do you think Whitney heard those stratospheric high notes her mom famously sang on "Ain't No Way" while she was growing up and tried to emulate them perfectly. Whitney wanted her own sound a part from her mom but I'm certain that high head notes were comfortably in her arsenal of vocal tricks she could use if she chose to do so. She just rarely used them. Her mom recorded this song originally so those notes are literally a nod to momma Houston.
I would kill to see footage of this😭😭😭❤️
There is a footage of her singing this gospel song in '88.
Me too! I would love to know if this performance is available on video somewhere. If anybody knows, please let me know where to find it!
What just happened??? I'm kinda shook😳
I've never met her and listening to her music make you sad yet happy like you still can't believe she's gone can't even imagine how her mom must feel like
So very SOULFUL as only she could do. Love you Baby Girl and I Miss You So Very Much.
Wow!
WHAT A BEAST..... DAMN, MY QUEEN
👏🏾
semplicemente magnifica...unica whitney💕
Bringing me to tears.... !!! Powerful
Praise the Lord
WHY is there no video of her singing this version online ??!!! Does her estate have it? I’d give almost anything to see her singing this and hitting those notes. If anybody finds video of this version, please let me know!!
Who needs whistle register when you have a head voice that can do all that.
She has a whistle though
@@kmaur512 to quote whitney "show me the receipts". Whitney didn't need whistle register. Her head voice more than compensated. She had more color, resonance, and dynamic control in her head voice than any whistle user.
@@issakelly8071 I agree but she possessed every register and can do anything vocally
That head voice was so magical when she did it too. I rather hear that than a whistle any day of the week!
@@timmy841212 She certainly could do anything with it. I believe she never tapped in its full potential.
My god my god you fill it when Whitney 🎶

Those B5s and C#6s are crazy. PS yall whitney can’t go higher in C#6 with correct technique her highest notes after was the A6 in “my name is not susan” in California IYBT tour.
she has d6s and eb6 from heartbreak hotel 1999 London..check it out, also I want to dance with somebody 1988 London d6 and eb6 and f6 with Aretha on the song it inset it wasn't it is not aint gonna be

@@odumosuolusegun2781 🌝
She hit a very high head note when she sang I Look to You with Kim Burrell at the BET Gospel Celebration. It occurred just as they're about to go into the bridge. Whitney probably didn't intend to hit it but she did!
Wrong. Check her saving all my live for you 1991 concert. She hits a almost whistle note on her head voice
❤❤❤
6:34
Although this is absolutely stunningly gorgeous singing, I believe the recording has been sped up resulting in the notes sounding higher than they were originally sung in person. This key is a half step higher than she sang it in '88, and it doesn't make much sense that Whitney would be raising the keys on her songs as her voice began to settle ever so slightly lower during the IYBT era. Still the best singer of all time doing her GOOD singing tho 🤩
lol what☠️ her voice didnt lower till after the bodyguard era…
@@diorrboyyyy The top of her belting range occasionally became less predictable during this era (probably largely due to her grueling touring schedule) - I can pull examples if that would be helpful! Regardless, the key of the song is a half step higher than anywhere else she ever sang it. I can't think of any other songs where she *raise* the key to perform it live, but I could be wrong... This is my favorite singer of all time, so I'm not trying to be shady. She KILLED! Just noting the possible slight distortion issue of the recording.
@@inthelionsden03 She raised the key on hwik samfly and alot of other songs from her debut to bodyguard era
@@diorrboyyyy Can you share examples of where she raised the key of those songs higher than the record to sing them live? You could be right, I just can’t think of any time I heard her do so

Are you sure this is her concert in 1990? Her live footage of the same concert her voice is fluesy she had a cold
She also had concerts in Japan in 1991, where she had the yellow dress on and sang "in return" - there she had a cold. No way she had a cold here. This says the 2nd night though - don't know if she had a cold on the other nights in 1990.
@@kennethbrdk come on. If it was the next night, how could her pitch be so high from a rich tone the night before!
@@Ornacia29 do you have footage from the night before then it will pretty easy to determine otherwise I don't think she had a cold in 1990 but she did in 1991
yes it is the concert in 1990, I am not sure of the date though. You are right, she was congested on January 7. She had 5 sold out dates there in Yokohama. January 1, 2 ( this could be the second night of the first run)
she then went to Saporro for January 5 and returned for Yokohoma on January 7 for the one she was congested , then sang again on January 8 in Yokohama.. There are concerts from Sendai, Nagoya and Osaka on UA-cam from the followup nights...
Returned there to round off the 14 date tour in 9 cities! Only Whitney!
This was the second night. She had 14 shows. Didn't start getting congested until the 7th if I'm not mistaken.
C6 is the note by the end?
Andrés E that’s what I’m thinking. I don’t have a perfect ear, but it sounds like it’s at least in the 6th octave.
Pimp The Human wait are u saying the sustained one a was a C#6?
Pimp The Human ok. Yeah it could be pitched, I’m still listening to try to figure it out. It kinda sounds like it, but at the same time it kind of sounds like her Tokyo concert from the same year. Her voice kind of sounded higher than usually there
The quick one with a run? It was a C#6.
@@lordvoldemort5725 people say it's eb6 but my pitch monitor says it's a c#6. I dont know if it's wrong. It was perfect anyway
