About 10 years ago I was a Chicago tour guide and I had a guy from Toronto on my bus, and he was lamenting how bad the Leafs had been for about 15 years or so, and I said, "You know it'll turn around some day" and he was all "easy for you to say, the Hawks are great," and now, well, the gulf in talent on these two teams is astonishing.
Truth is the Leafs have 4 superstars, the rest of the team is pretty average.
@@mckessa17 Leafs are where veteran superstars go right before they retire. They have been since the Sundin trade (before then, actually, but they hung on to a few that mattered). Since the Ballard era, management and ownership's goal has been to maximize profit at the lowest possible cost. Superstars draw crowds, which is all management and ownership are interested in.
@@szahmad2416 Don't forget offensive oriented players, like Nylander and Marner. They get a ton of goals to excite the fans during the regular season and, with one exception, they are neutralized during the playoffs.

That offside took away a potential 3-1 goal after an incredible play by Marner to set up Kerfoot. Nonetheless, it was the right call by the officials.

I'm really confused on this one. He's on Nylander following him across the top of the zone. And then Kane just.....stops. That allows Nylander to curl in towards the net, uncontested, and slide an easy pass over to Matthews for a goal. I have no idea why Kane wouldn't continue to pressure Nylander there.
And also once again, invisible all night offensively.
People keep hyping him up as some sort of 'main event' status for the deadline, but he's going to be a bust for whoever gets him.
Looks like his thought was that the LW would take over the pressure on Nylander and that he stayed back to take away the passing lane to the player on the blue line.

If I remember, I think that was Domi who just stood there and also did nothing.
A nice team effort between the two of them in accomplishing negative results.

Good win for the Leafs after they lost to the Blue Jackets last Saturday. Nylander's goal was so quick. Leafs played better than the last game. Good game Blackhawk fans!!!!
well, .880 save percentage isn't great for mrazek, but his team wasn't exactly doing him any favors getting out shot 42-29. if your team is letting 40% more shots on net they your opponents, blame kinda shifts from goaltender letting goals in to the team giving those chances. if it was like a 5-6 difference, that's acceptable, but 13 is a pretty big gap

Mrazek doesn't seem to be doing any better in a Chicago jersey.
I agree. As a Detroiter, I saw him with the Wings and he had stretches of playing shut down hockey. But he has faded since then. His problem all along has been his lateral movement/crease management. When he controls that, he is a beast. But when he doesn't, he's Swiss cheese. But he just can't stay between the posts, especially after the first save. I'm a former goalie and I see his issues clear as day, and he has controlled it before so I don't know why he's lost that.
The give aways by Jarkrok in the 1st and Bunting in the 2nd that allowed the Hawks to score are the kind of mistakes that will cost them 1st round. Got to cleanup these errors.

If you want to know why the Leafs never got past the first round in the playoffs, when games are tighter, you just pointed out two glaring examples.

This game proves that Toronto isn't a cup contender after only scoring 5 goals against a horrific defensive team that turned the Puck over dozens of times , the leafs also gave up 2 goals to an anemic offense. The Blackhawks organization should be embarrassed putting this terrible team out there for everyone to witness flounder every game. As any Chicago fan will tell you we're fed up with the decade long rebuild, how about flushing all the incompetent management especially the horrific general manager.
